Disappointments of 2010

2010 was a good and bad year for sequels. Gamers had high hopes for Gran Turismo 5, Bioshock 2, Dead Rising 2, Fable III, Fallout New Vegas. Most of these games struggled to deliver the amazing experience that their predecessor set up. Whether it was from buggy game play, tacked on multiplayer or endless delays, these games lacked a wow factor

hmm, these games met my expectations (note: MY expectations, not the media's stupid hype)
I disagree w/ the follwing:
Crackdown 2: it was a fun game, it took it for what is was... mindless open world game

GoW3: while they ending did leave me wanting more, I think it was necessary to cont. on the story

AC:B: The gameplay is why I wasn't disappointed in this.
I absolutely loved AC:B SP, much better than AC2/AC1. MP sucked thou, and so did the story for the most part.

FF13: I'm not going to go into this, I've wrote paragraphs about it.. either way, I enjoyed the game

SC:C: Great game, imo. Fast paced action game.. game felt very rewarding for pulling off stealth kills. It was a much better sequel compared to double agent.

Metro 2033: I liked the game.. at this point.. not sure why ;)

Biggest disappointment... FF13... played for 3-4 hours and just left it. Some people said it gets better after 10 hours, but i wasn't willing to find out.

As for Fable 3... It wasn't a GOTY contender, but was quite good. I don't understand why people hate it so much. It was better then Fable 2.

I was disapointed in ff13 but overall it was still a great game. I was very disapointed in bioshock 2, it was totally average in every way. Pesonally i loved alan wake and fable 3, two of my favorite games ever. Fable 3 disapointed me in lack of expressions but the story, quests, and graphics made up for it. I didnt appreciate the graphic upgrade until i went back to fable 2 and realized how great 3 looks. One of my fav franchises.

It gets better after 10 hours, because the fight system opens up a bit more, but the game does not become good until 30-35 hours in.

For me it was FF13 I was so excited when it first came out, but I found it so boring I'am yet to finish it even though I hear the ending is awesome.

Oh and Black Ops, it was the game I was most looking foward to and... Well the rest is obvious.

Biggest surprise:Heavy Rain I had so little hope for that game that I rented it. I've rented it 4 times already and plan to do once more :]

Gotta agree about ff13. As a big final fantasy fan I Was so hyped for it... and while it looked good graphicaly it was just so limited in what it could have been. Definately my biggest disappointment on 2010... if not this console generation.

the first bioshock is my favorite game of this generation but the sequel wasnt really an improvement over the first one

final fantasy 13 well the game was too linear and didnt like the battle system

Bioshock Infinite should've been Bioshock 2.

Bioshock 2 was a big let down for me. It was a great game, but it just didn't measure up to the expectation I had come to expect because of Bioshock 1.

Bioshock 2 had better gameplay, but everything else was a step back from the first. Bioshock 1 will remain supreme until Bioshock:Infinite arrives. I think it will be a heavy cotender for GoTY whenever it releases.

Gran Turismo 5 is brilliant, the best driving game out there. I have NFS HP, and a bunch of other racers, GT5 is leaps and bounds above any of those games.

There's something desperate about your comment. As if you don't honestly believe what you just typed. Attacking NFS HP seems odd. It's a great game, and unlike GT5 it has awesome online modes.

I like NFS, it just got boring a lot faster than GT5. GT5 is in a different league, can't even compare these games.

GT5 is king of racers on PS3.

I'm the same. NFS:HP is a good game and it does get a little boring after a while, but GT5 hasn't got boring yet. I have probably played about 15 hours or so on each game.
I do like sim racing games more than arcade ones though.

Oh God Crackdown 2, I completely forgot about that game for good reason. I would also say Sonic 4 though I didn't have the highest hopes for it, it was still disappointing because of its length and price ($15 and I beat it in like 2-3 hours).

Really? Crackdown 2 as a game I thought wasn't that bad. The reason why I hated it was because that Crackdown 1 was better in every way (Including graphics, how do you even make a sequel with worse graphics?). If I saw both Crackdown and Crackdown 2 in the store for $20 Crackdown 1 would be the much better choice and that's why I found it disappointing. Point being, as a game its ok but as a sequel its an insult to the series (IMO). I just hope that C2 didn't kill the franchise and that someday we'll get a Crackdown 3.

I determine if a game sucks or not by one simple condition. Did I have fun while playing. Seeing as I did not finish FFXIII, the answer is obviously no, thus, it sucked.

I enjoyed Fable 3, I love how everyone is all in love with Fable 2 now, but back when it released people hated it.

I also enjoyed New Vegas, though I got it after a big title update to fix issues, I've never had problems with it.

For me I'd say I was disappointed in MAG, just not what I expected and Force Unleashed 2....again just not what I thought it'd be.

GT5 was awesome, Fable 3 was three times better then Fable 2.

Their was far worst games, but Fallout New Vegas was a very glitch up game that was almost unplayable.

GT5 was not failure.. in fact most biased and clearly fanboy "Journalists" are knocking off points for it taking so long to come out. Especially after so many "delays", when there really only was ONE real delay. Everything else was speculation by these same journalists.

GT5 delivered on what it promised, and was rated justly (hype). In fact the 6million plus sales prove that it is and should be a 90+ (A) game.

You make it seem like enjoying Fable 3 is a bad thing. I loved Fable 3. IMO, a great improvement over Fable 2. Better graphics, WAY less framerate drops and menu lag, a more visceral combat system, and a more involved and better told story (although the ending isn't that great). All of these things plus more made Fable 3 a worthy $60 purchase for me.

I really enjoyed fable 3, was an improvement over 2 imo. Bioshock 2 was probably the biggest dissapointment for me. The story sucked which really brought down the game.

My list of unexpected good games also numbing mentally.
For starters,GOW3 was a 6.5/10 and Castlevania LOS a 9/10.
Fallout NV a 4+-5/10 and WKC 8/10.

The 'playbook' didn't include an amazing atomsphere,gameplay,design decisions,inversions,a laughable second half,imo.GOW3 was a miserable boss 2 boss showcase with a strangely lacking in-between.
I would go 6/10 Gow3 if not for the um....grafiks.
LOS was art in playable form,Gow3 was GOw2 in HD...

I don't get why people say Bioshock 2 failed. It was similar and the overall story wasn't as good, but it retained that same sense of atmosphere. Sophia Lamb was awesome, I enjoyed her rantings.
