Spanish PS3 users report sudden BR drive lockup

Some PS3 users reported sudden inability to use BR disc optical media, among recent rumors and Sony's non-manifest and open to speculation plans to fight back piracy, this small phenomena appears on one of the so called "most piracy-permissive countries in the world"

Might not be the case but have you guys been tinkering with CFW?! Just a thought... In Spain, modding a console is like going to the farmacy. Its a normal thing and something you do with no remorse.

In any case, just take your PS3 to the shop where you bought them and activate the warranty. If they were bought in December like the article stats, there´s no problem. The warranty will cover any defect. Still, its annoying not having the console for 2 weeks.

That error means their BRD lenses are messed up, seriously are these people stupid or what? have they been living under a rock for the past 3 years? Why was it reported as 'sudden'? don't think that's being a little over dramatic for a problem Sony fixed ages ago?

Unless they're using an original launch 60GB PS3 they should be having no problems with their BRD 'build quality'.

I'm thinking my friend has the same problem, but he never missed around with CFW or anything like that.

It wont read CDs, I even switch out the drive with one from a YLOD PS3 (same model) and still nothing.

I wonder if there is really targeting hacker, or if there is a bug in FW 3.55.

wow 250 out of 46.6million ps3s that's a very low fail rate nice try 360 fan's, but all your doing is making the 360 look worse when you consider kinect has probably bricked more old 360's than this blu-ray issue which will come under normal failure figures, no hardware device is perfect but ps3 and wii both have very low failure rates, whereas at one point all i heard is my friends complaining they have had at least 3 RROD's and still go back for more....

BS article but Sony have huge freaking problems with Bluray on the PS3. My original 60GB wouldnt read discs after a firmware update that updated the Bluray profile and I maintain to this day that it is Sony's fault.
