EA shows respect to veterans by humoring them with name change in Medal of Honor.

Sarcastic Gamer's latest editorial is on the name change in Medal of Honor's multiplayer that sees one side being renamed from Taliban to "Opposing Force" as a way to placate political pressure.

The reason gamers are so upset with EA is...

1. Our gaming experience and fun is being dictated or changed by a bunch of people who obviously were never ever going to play the game anyway.

2. I was closely following the development of6 days in Fallujah and it was turning into one realistic hell of a game.

Then people who never ever buy or play video games started bitching and complaining so now the game may NEVER come out and if it does the realism and game play will be Kiddiefied.

Electronics Arts and Atomic Games are weak and lack the balls to make Art how they and Gamers see fit for the sake of GAMERZ everywhere.

If you don't like it then don't buy it but then don't go ruin it for everyone else like some spoiled brat.

So EA withdrew the name Taliban not to offend the families of solders fighting the current war.

But every other game released is war related with Americans killing Koreans, Germans, Russians, mutants, aliens, Combine, Covenant, and Helghast. I wonder what they think about this.

Do you know how many Helicopters that have crashed and killed American solders but every game has American solders in helicopters. they should ban those too.

maybe they should ban guns in video games and give the solders paint guns or Laser Tag.

This is the maximum what EA can do for the families of US Army soldiers who died serving their country. They can't shut down the whole game, they can't change the whole settings and story. Everybody knows who are fighting for a who they play. I don't care. I can play Hitler, Musoliny etc. and I will not even notice it. For me it's only about having fun regardless the name, colour of skin or believe.

Why you guys want to keep the Taliban name? Why is that for you so important? I can play as Mickey Mouse, I don't care. It's only a name, no other thing in this game changes.

This whole sensitivity thing is getting out of hand.

First this mosque debacle in New York and people saying that it's too close to ground zero, but the outcry was silent after the Oklahoma City bombing when the bomber was a white Christian male.

Now people are getting upset over this game? We are fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan, this is accurate to current events, get over it.

Instead of worrying about ish in a video game, parents and citizens alike should worry about more expedient things like the failing school system, loss of net neutrality and corporations being able to contribute exponentially to political races, essentially shutting down the voice of individual citizens and communities. And these are issues I came up with in less than a minute, all infinitely more important than if a video game calls something the "Taliban" or "Opposition Forces".

Sanity and logic need to replace FEAR....
