"In terms of how Stranger will look in the new Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath updated version, check out these comparison shots of Old Stranger, initially decked out in his state-of-the-art (for the time) 3,000 polygons from his Xbox days, then the upcoming PS3 version (a dashing and crisp 20,000 polygons rendition), and, just for good measure, how the bounty hunter looks in the CGI portions of the game – coming home at a whopping 529,000 polygons.
This is a follow up from JAW's previous developer diary and not a duplicate story. This article reveals how the studio have decided to take Stranger over the 20,000 polygon count. Previous images show Stranger at less than half that amount"
17 years after its initial release, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath has returned -- and has never been better than this.
If you missed the news, Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is out now on the Switch via the Nintendo eShop. But there’s a physical edition that is now available for pre-order at Amazon.
As one of the last major releases for the original Xbox, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is also one of the most memorable games on the system, taking the series to new places with a cross between third-person platforming and first-person shooting. With its unique weapons system, open-ended mission design and fascinating story, it's a game that always felt special and still holds up today - and it's recently received an impressive Switch conversion.
Suddenly I'm very excited for this game. With all the HD "remakes" recently that are literally just the originals in HD, it's nice to see a real remake. And these new models look fantastic.
Although considering the huge difference in polygons, the difference between the in-game and CG models is very small.
It looks like JAWLTD are doing an enormous amount of work just to update an old game.
Good for them, and good for us.
only thing i fear is a game not holding up to it's predecessor.....i wish this luck
That's just freaking hilarious, hopefully we get jade empire too.
The polygon count defiantly shows between the PS3 and Xbox version but compared to the CGI the PS3 model looks almost identical, really looking forward to this
