Shadow of The Damned: EA's Alan Wake: Story Details

EA takes a shot at making its own version of Alan Wake. A game featuring a guy alone equipped with noting more than a flash light, and what every he could pick up, didn't sound very interesting at first. But when the game played was gripping, and addictive. Alan Wake's success must have caught the eye of EA because their newest IP shares a lot of similarities.

From what I saw from the trailer, Shadow of the Damned and Alan Wake are two VERY different games.

DelbertGrady4989d ago

The gameplay looked much more reminiscent of Dead Rising or Resident Evil.

Chubear4989d ago

Thought at first it was something like current version of Eternal Darkness from Gamecube days but after the trailers it looks more like a The Darkness than anything else

Gago4989d ago

grasping for straws to bash a game it seems

BattleAxe4989d ago (Edited 4989d ago )

It looks like EA really is a "me too" company.

EA: Battlefield/ Medal of Honor

@BattleAxe

Somewhat, but not on everything.

NFS and GT are different types of racing games. Ones a racing simulator and the others an arcade racing game.
As for Medal of Honor, the original was out on the PS2 back in 2002, while the Call of Duty was originally out on the PC in 2003. So Activision is more of the "me too" company in that aspect seeing as the first call of duty for the ps2 made in 2004 was made by "a newly formed studio comprised of 27 of the individuals who developed titles in the "Medal of Honor" series" according to metacritic.

Dante, MMA, and Rock Band I agree on, though Rock Band took the formula and added more to it.

Jeff2574989d ago

Actually the original Medal of Honor was on the PS1. Frontline was the first one on the PS2 and is the one being included on the PS3 version of MOH in HD.

BattleAxe4989d ago

@rgdneoz3

Well if you look at the Medal of Honor Reboot, its trying to be MW2....aka: me too

jetlian4989d ago

battlefield,MOH and NFS are all older franchises to COD and GT. THQ isn't the first company to make a MMA game. And left everyone else tell it alan wake is luigis mansion

Yeah. No clue how you can relate this to Alan Wake. The graphics look a bit... clunky to me. Gameplay seems to have some nice options (looks like you create spirit guns from mystical items) involved in the game. Will definitely keep my eyes out, but hope it becomes a bit more coherent and less clunky over time.

Biggunz4989d ago

But the HEADLINE GETZ DA HITZ! and that is all that matters anymore.

Troll_Police4989d ago

So was Alan Wake and Heavy Rain but that didn't stop them from comparing the two.

Megaton4989d ago

Yeah, it doesn't look anything like Alan Wake. Pretty terrible comparison from a person who clearly has never touched Alan Wake.

Game-ur4989d ago

It’s an action horror game, nothing like Alan Wake, more like what RE5 wanted to be.

Anyway the trailer got me exited; it's nice to finally have some good news this day.

Agent-864989d ago

Seems like a good game for including Move support with using the Move as the flashlight and the Navigator Controller for movement.

jay24989d ago

Erm No, this isn't Alan Wake like.

disparage4989d ago

Alan Wake? Did they even watch the video? Lol

dgroundwater4989d ago

Talk about star power. I didn't know Silent Hill's sound director was onboard too!

The clip from 00:40 is looking like it's straight out of Dead Space. I'm sure it will have loads a nonsensical madness to set it apart though.

Aye just call Phil, i mean he somehow made Bobby Kotick's scandal disappear and gave him a few million dollar high five on the way out.

Cacabunga1d 18h ago

I wonder if it will be censored with some in game ads.

XiNatsuDragnel2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

EA about to go down like Activision and then Phil saves the day saying.this is good for the industry and consolidation will help create competition. /s.

ravens521d 22h ago

What's up with all these horny creeps. You gon be horny, fine. Just not at work take care of that shit before you go in. Rub one out if you have to. Don't be a creep at all. ESPECIALLY at work. But don't be one AT ALL.

Extermin8or3_1d 17h ago

I mean part of the issue is that things transpired outside of work....

KwietStorm_BLM1d 17h ago

You think deviants care where they are? Work sometimes makes it an even better situation for them because they can abuse their power.

mudakoshaka1d 1h ago

Nerds think they are Gods when they are making video games.

NotoriousWhiz1d 21h ago (Edited 1d 21h ago )

"it seems that according to EA, given the events transpired outside of work between two adults, and the fact that once investigation has started that the alleged perpetrators didn’t do it again, the investigation is considered closed. [...] The victim still has to work with the people that harassed her."

Yep, EA is disgusting.

Extermin8or3_1d 17h ago

I mean the fact stuff happened outside of work puts EA in quite a difficult position legally. These women don't seem to have reported the matter to the police which kinda ties EA's hands on what they can do. If they don't file reports of the crimes then yeah from EA's perspective it is stuff that happened outside of work. The only exception is the guy that apparently referenced things in the slack channel for work, spending on what he said proving it may be very hard and he may well be able to get away with plausible deniability. I don't like EA and I think these people need to be dismissed but without any legal action being taken, EA can't really do much without risk of being sued themselves for unfair dismissal etc.

Well, anything to make those shareholders happy, I guess. They're all that matters in this industry nowadays.

EA stocks haven't been profitable in over 5yrs. They better hope Take-two don't get the FIFA license lol.
