"We recently reported on an amazing fan-made video of Sonic & Knuckles, redone with current-gen graphics and, essentially, toting the exact look and feel that Sonic fans have be longing for for years. We managed to get in contact with video creator and 3D artist, Robert Medina to get the lowdown on exactly what it took to put this mini masterpiece together and whether or not we can expect future video remakes based on the Sonic franchise."
Sonic & Knuckles, released for the Sega Genesis, remains a classic that may require some assembly. Take a look back.
If you’re playing this without being locked in with Sonic 3 then you’re doing it wrong.
Video games are awesome. At their very best they can become modern marvels from an artistic standpoint, combining compelling visuals, evocative music and deep narratives into a cohesive package. They are also exceptional from a technical standpoint, being a culmination of thousands of man-hours, compiling abstract code into an cohesive experience that is designed purely to entertain you. Here at Power Up Gaming, we're passionate about our chosen hobby. That's why we felt it was about time to assemble a list of our 100 greatest games as a representation of our favourite experiences in the medium. To do this, we polled all of our staff members, collated the results into a list, and asked our writers to write up the games they were most passionate about. We'll be breaking our list down into four articles of 25 games, so check back every day this week as more of our list will be revealed. Without further ado, here's our picks for 100-75.
So many great games and memories! I've always loved getting to play as Knuckles in the Sonic games (except for the parts where instead of punching things you have to painstakingly hunt out hidden emeralds. Boo.)
Cinco De Mayo not only welcomes in a party holiday, but five new games coming to the Xbox One Backwards compatibility list.
Even if it has been a lot of XBLA titles, you have to give Microsoft credit for the BC efforts.
Didn't know Phantasy Star 2 was even on the XBox. I know there was an online version, but that was it.
Wasn't StarWars the Force Unleashed 1 and 2 release during the course of this week. These websites need to do a better job with gathering information. In all 7 titles Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, Dig Dug, Sonic & Knuckles, Phantasy Star 2, Samurai Shodown 2 and Runner2. MS is doing a great job. I may be off but I believe there are 176 titles in all.
I love that video, and wish that we could get something of quality like that for real!
Dude, that's like the Sonic we've been waiting for ever since they got done with the Sonic Adventure series. THIS should be Sonic 4. Not a remake, but the game should still be done in this style, I love it!
Hell, they posted about it on their blog. It made it here to N4G about how "yes, they've seen THAT Sonic video." Let's just hope they keep this in mind for Sonic 4, Ep 2. I bet Ep 1 is too far along to make any radical changes.
I doubt it will affect Sonic 4, at this point it is a done deal. But maybe we will get a decent Sonic some day...
Wow this looks better than the current gen sonic games that Sega have released so far
