Final Fantasy XV Development Time 'Hopefully' Shorter

GamingUnion.net: "Final Fantasy XIII has been out for a few months now, and Final Fantasy XIV is out next month, so soon all attention will be turning towards the next iteration in the franchise, Final Fantasy XV.

We had a chance to speak to Yoshinori Kitase at GamesCom about how the development cycles are longer with Final Fantasy games than they used to be."

Hopefully. HA. More like better be.

-Ikon-5017d ago

Well they said reason why there was no towns and exploring in ff13 was because it takes to long to do.. Guess this confirms same for ff 15..

Square RIP haven't made a high caliber rpg since 10

badz1495017d ago

SE, this is a piece of advice for you guys. release FFvsXIII first before talking XV!

MisterNiwa5016d ago (Edited 5016d ago )

Well FFXVI is already in the works!

FACTUAL evidence5017d ago

Make the battle system like 9, and bring back LEVELS! I want to grind for a reason....Also bring back towns and mini games....Oh one more thing..can we get a good story line? Cya!

ShawnCollier5017d ago

Considering Crystal Tools is fully developed now, I'd expect a shorter development time.

Plus FFXV wouldn't be caught in a console transition like XIII was.

JDouglasGU5017d ago

agreed, but you never know these days.

mephman5017d ago

That's assuming they even use Crystal Tools.

Reibooi5017d ago

This is assuming they even do XV this gen. They said they wanted XIII to kinda of be a franchise and we are still waiting on Versus and Agito and there is nothing that says they won't make another XIII game this gen and just save XV until next gen.

Assuming that did happen Crystal Tools would probably not even be used unless they designed it to scale to the tech being used on the next gen consoles. Which is possible but I don't recall them saying it was made for that.

FFV13 2015
FF15 2020

Edit: Below, really? We'll bring this discussion up again in 2015.

2FootYard5017d ago

I betcha that 15 will be released before Versus.

versusALL5017d ago

Fuck at this rate, will be lucky if Versus XIII comes out at lanuch of PS4. God I've been waiting for that game forever.
2006-6th grade, 4 years later I'm a Junior in High School. Bet I'll be able to play around when I'm in college though. While the game looks badass everytime I see it, I'm starting not to care anymore

niceguywii605017d ago

" He went on to say "And Final Fantasy XIII, for example, was the first ever numbered Final Fantasy for Xbox 360 and PS3, so we really wanted to make it absolutely perfect and it took a long time to make it perfect. But maybe next time around we need a much shorter time."

Just make sure you take your time porting the 360 version of FFV13

Karooo5017d ago (Edited 5017d ago )

dreaming about exclusives going multiplatform. Hey we got mass effect 2 though you aint getting uncharted 2, GT5 or MGS4.

you cant even name 5 exclusives in 2011 and i bet most ps3 fans don't give a shit about squarenix any more.

SpoonyRedMage5017d ago

Probably not interested if it isn't directed by Ito...

That's all I've got to contribute.

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled34d ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog166d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake165d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

FinalFantasyFanatic164d ago

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

EternalTitan165d ago

Found the pathetic troll.
How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman166d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator165d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno165d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior166d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake165d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
