Isn't it a bit soon to be re-imagining a classic?

NYC_Gamer5018d ago

i guess he wants to distance his game from that awful bioshock 2

AngryFork5018d ago

Starting to annoy me how easily people throw around Bioshock 2 being "awful, horrible" etc. Yes it was unnecessary, but it was a great great game. In some ways (gameplay) it was better than the first.

The level design, story and characters weren't as interesting as the first, but the gameplay was way better and Bioshock 2 overall was a lot more fun to play than the first.

Basically whoever says Bioshock 2 was a bad game is plain nuts or had expectations soaring through the roof.

I guess you didn't play the same Biochock 2 that i have! Biochock 2 is avery good game, and gameplay was better than B 1 in every aspects!Do you know that the majority of the sequels never reach the same status has the first game,if people dont get theres expectations so high they will probably enjoy the majority of what Biochock 2 had to offer! For some reason all major review here above 8/10!

I thought Bioshock 2 was awesome. Infinite looks like $. Mine anyway. Need some gameplay vids though.

RedSky5018d ago

It reeked of me-too-ism but it had a couple of clever ideas and on the whole was still a step above the kind of dreary tosh that gets released nowadays.

i have to say, I thought B1 was far better than B2 as this lacked new ideas, setting, weapons, perspective ect.. But still I'm enjoying the game. Re-imagining will hopefully be good

BuIIetproofish_5018d ago

Have they been working on this since Bioshock's launch? I know Irrational had no part in #2 so they had to be doing something all this time.

DevilsJoker5018d ago

They said it might be in the same universe, and is set about 40-50 years previous? How much do you bet baby andrew ryan is in this game. I bet we'll witness his birth, or he liked to play with the big daddy dolls we saw in the trailer or something. I'm calling it.

BuIIetproofish_5018d ago

Maybe Columbia inspired him to build Rapture?

DevilsJoker5018d ago

We might even rescue him from the crashing columbia and at the end it's revealed it's andrew ryan from his leg tag or something and a creepy orchestra plays.

Cajun Chicken5018d ago (Edited 5018d ago )

Maybe Rapture is a wrecked Columbia. Remade by Andrew Ryan, the son of the woman in the trailer. Rapture IS Columbia. Cue the same curse to happen years later.

DevilsJoker5018d ago (Edited 5018d ago )

And they said 'Gameplay footage' might tip us off, if we see any familar places we know your theory is right. I'd love it if that's why andrew ryan refuses to abandon it in bioshock, because it's where we was born.

Can't wait for this game!

Judas First Details: How Ken Levine Is Building on BioShock With 'Narrative LEGOs'

IGN: "We spent six hours playing a recent build of Judas, the next game from BioShock creator Ken Levine, followed by a lengthy conversation with the renowned game designer to discuss the long wait since BioShock Infinite, bringing the "narrative LEGOs" concept to life in Judas, what the game is all about, and much more."

I’m tentatively hopeful for this. Love Bioshock. As far as the narrative Legos we shall have to wait and see. The early trailer for Infinite showed off a lot of stuff that didn’t make it into the finished product, and Levine is notoriously difficult to work for, so if this narrative stuff makes it into the came will be curious to see how impactful it is. I’d be fine with something more in the vein of the first Bioshock. Not much like that now, especially since Arkane’s fall from grace.

Psychonaut8543d ago

I didn’t realize Levine’s new studio was under 2K Games just like Irrational was. What was the point quitting Irrational and then 2K dissolving the studio only for him to open up a smaller studio still under 2K? Why not just downsize Irrational, keep operations going and have the brand recognition. Cuz it’s not like Judas is a departure from his normal style. Must be a story there

RaidenBlack43d ago

Cloud Chamber, under 2K, is the new studio developing the next Bioshock (4?) game.

toxic-inferno43d ago

I imagine he had a negative experience building Bioshock Infinite, due to the pressure on the team. As you pointed out in your other comment, lots from that game was cut out or changed before release. I suspect he wanted the opportunity to step back and create a game in a timescale that allowed him to deliver the product he wanted.

Irrational may have also been locked into certain contracts under 2K, and opening a new studio may have allowed him to negotiate new terms.

BH needs to do better - since Halloween Ends - Exorcist , Freddy is Shyte - STOP IT !!!!

Garethvk191d ago

Didn't the creator write it? It also made a fortune based on the budget so from a business standpoint it is a massive success.
