God damn. I want to try that beta badly.

Treezy5045028d ago

I'm so jealous of that person right now... I would kill for that beta!

lociefer5028d ago

i would trade my 360 for teh beta !

Darkstorn5028d ago (Edited 5028d ago )

I want in! Although the beta is probably reserved for PS+ subscribers.

AmpedUP5028d ago

This game is going to take the word EPIC to a whole new level!

Digitaldude5028d ago

KillZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OONE THREEEEEEEEEEEE.

Awesome, just awesome.

Army_of_Darkness5028d ago

Is the Jungle level!! show me the green GG!! the green stuffs!

CrimsonFox135027d ago

I hope they have vehicles in multiplayer. They had them at first in Killzone 2, but they decided to take them out!

zeeshan5027d ago

Damn!! That's one lucky bastard!

Traveler5027d ago (Edited 5027d ago )

I hope they have an open beta in the coming months. Killzone 3 is going to be one epic, badass game.

@Army of Darkness

Me too, man, me too. I want to see the jungle level they have mentioned. Killzone 2 was already one of the best looking games ever, but there could have been a little more variety to the look of the levels. I am so excited for Killzone 3 because not only is it going to have the amazing graphics that Killzone 2 had (probably a little better), but it now seems like it is going to have a whole lot more diversity. From snow and ice to jungles to a nuclear wasteland and who knows what else. I can't wait.

sikbeta5027d ago

Epic Game, I can't Wait to play it...

KZ3D FTW!!!

Rumor5027d ago

call this confirmed, as it didnt ncome from GG's mouth, but i would call it a HUUUGE HINT! :) and it sdhould say killzone 3 closed beta to not confuse people

Gamerbee5027d ago

hopefully PSN+ sub makes me eligible. I
ll be taking it up with the VP of FPS's himself.

Dee_915027d ago

if ps+ dont get this ima be so pissed

ChineseDemocracy5027d ago (Edited 5027d ago )

I'd do filthy things to get into the beta.

Weaksauce11385028d ago

Killzone 2 could of benefited from a beta, i'm praying they nail the controls this time around.

blizzard_cool5028d ago

I never had any problem with the controls and I never understood why people didn't try to get used to them. Well it's they who are missing out on something then ;)

Soldierone5028d ago

Killzone 2 did have a beta and it was the hardest beta to get into for me. Unlike Resistance 2 though, they didnt fix most of the problems in the beta phrase and left the clunky controls to ruin the game.

Weaksauce11385028d ago

They patched the controls a few weeks after launch, there was quite an uproar. I shelved my copy till it went live, then it was better but they still didnt quite nail it. Even post patch it had almost a 1s latency issue. Heres hoping they got it down and they can have an excellent FPS on their hands.

table5027d ago

almost 1s latency? just shut up. The latency was around 100-150ms. Seriously, imagine what a 1s latency would look like.

DarkMantrid5027d ago (Edited 5027d ago )

I dont think you realize how long 1s is.

raztad5027d ago

LOL@1s latency

People really love making stuff up. Why is that? I played KZ2 multiplayer with all the controls in default sensibility and still had fun and my K/D ratio was decent.

With sensitivity set in full the game is a lot more responsive.

hennessey865027d ago

but i tried the patched version of the controls and they are perfect

Kleptic5027d ago

I never once had a problem with the controls...200 hours in the full game and over 40 in the beta...but I did see how bad it divided the community...

I had plenty of friends migrating from cod 4 to killzone 2...and getting absolutely trashed...its very different compared to that...my guess is thats why so many disliked it...

the issues of '1s of lag' and stuff is simply made up...or your tv is set up wrong...I could get some noticeable lag if I played killzone 2 on TV settings without game mode on (or tv's that don't have that; turning off all post processing filters)...and it would be more noticeable in killzone 2 than some other games for some reason...but with the TV set up to play video games, there was zero noticeable 'lag'...but it still didn't feel like other shooters...that is most likely what annoyed so many...

it was simply that killzone 2 had some odd dead zones, and strange acceleration in the sticks compared to other titles...GG first tried to compensate that by adding some ADS locking like cod...but it was broken as it was easily exploitable...so it was then removed, and dead zones were narrowed, and to many...it became better...

more than anything I felt it was just killzone 2 had a relatively small amount of auto aim compared to other titles...that and weapons were extremely accurate compared to some other shooters when aiming from the hip (you didn't need to aim down the sights with assault rifles even at medium range)...couple that with it only taking about 5 bullets to be put down, and people got annoyed...you could easily see in any game who 'got it' and who didn't...

anyway...hopefully Guerilla gets it to something that most people accept...anything will be fine with me, just want the whining to stop...as I fully understand killzone is a different franchise than other shooters, and I am fine with it having its own feel...many are not though, as the uproar and lies about the controls illustrate that....

raztad5027d ago

@Kleptic

Nice post.

See KZ2 shooting mechanics is designed to be "from the hip", ie, little to none use of iron sights in short-medium range, only in long. The game is like that since the original KZ, and thankfully it stayed faithful in the transition to next gen.

If I understand correctly, KZ3 will be even more a "from the hip" shooter. Check the videos, players almost never use iron sights and the shots are very accurate with no so much recoil.

Other thing is it looks like controls are much tighter this time but still preserving the weighty feel. I guess that means preserving the weighty animations.

Kleptic5027d ago

thanks man...I didn't mean to come off as a dick, it just became very tiresome hearing everyone complain about it to a degree that it was 'broken'...it was fine, just took some getting used to...and if you were experiencing problems, it very likely wasn't the game itself...

for me it ended up that I want other shooters to feel more like killzone 2 than the other way around...I hope whatever is done to killzone 3 is very minimal, even though it probably won't be...whatever they do, i'll get used to it, and I can barely wait to play it...

Jazz41085027d ago

Also the write up in GI this month stated that Killzone 3's visuals are not going to be as good as killzoks 2 thanks to the addition of 3d. Remember I did not say it but GI this month did so read it if you don't believe me.

Bolts5028d ago

I don't. I would rather wait for the full game. Sometimes when I know the game will be good I would rather wait for the final product. Playing the beta at this point would just ruin the excitement and anticipation.

hakis865028d ago

I hopw the beta supports 3D (why shouldn't it?) as I'll have a 3DTV veryvery soon =D

DORMIN5027d ago

I never thought of KZ3D online MP until just now and I think my brain came in its pants.

lex-10205027d ago

Imagine using Move online.

EvilBlackCat5027d ago

Multiplayer the only one thing that can make me get this 3rd part of killzone.

If they come with a lame multiplayer design... ill just live like their is no KZ3 in existence.

otherZinc5027d ago

It is 2010, it should be in the game!

Ivan Drago IV5028d ago

that screenshot is jaw dropping! i dont care how many disagrees i get, this game kills Crysis 2 in the graphics department. Atleast on consoles, infact the KZ3 graphics own every game out now in the graphics department. Man just looks so good and polished

Kingdom Come5028d ago

But don't underestimate Crysis 2 PC. Killzone will be better graphically on consoles but the PC version of Crysis 2 will most likely be untouchable, the original still amazes me to this day, whilst Killzone may hold the FPS graphics thrown on consoles, Crysis is still untouchable. But both are great franchises...

commodore645027d ago (Edited 5027d ago )

Just don't understand how people can disagree with you, KC.

THe fanboys on here are drunk on the cool-aid.
Or on crack.
Or both?

Bolts5027d ago (Edited 5027d ago )

Here the truth of it all.

Crysis 2 on the PS3 looks like crap when compared with Killzone 3, and Killzone 3 on the PS3 looks like crap when compared with Crysis 2 on the PC.

PC graphics are on an entirely different level with thier high resolution textures. That's something that can't be matched until the PS4. It's like comparing a cell phone to a desktop.

nycredude5027d ago

I am sure there are plenty of people who would tell you that Killzone 3 kills the Crysis 1 or 2 on their PC cause their PC can't run the games on high. Get real here. Get a PC with the Ps3 specs or build one for 299.99 and run Crysis and tell me which looks better.

Kleptic5027d ago (Edited 5027d ago )

I agree with Ivan though...the PS3/360 versions of Crysis 2 simply won't touch killzone 3...probably won't even top killzone 2...as console wise, that engine is unmatched currently...If ND would ever make an fps with the uncharted engine, there would be some room for debate...but Crytek isn't spending the time or money to get CryEngine 3.0 to sing on consoles anywhere near killzone 3's engine...

We don't need to debate it all over again though...many say Crysis is overall the best looking game still...but I like some of the things in killzone 2 visually that Crysis does not...things with lighting and animation in killzone 2 are still untouched by any other titles...but it definitely doesn't have the resolution, destruction, or 'scope' of photo realism like crysis...so to each their own...one thing is cool though, killzone 2 is the only game even comparable to crysis visually...no other shooter, even PC based shooter, comes close...its impressive that killzone 2 does in the first place...

but no doubt the PC version of Crysis 2 is going to go way beyond anything available...I'm more interested to see what is done with the animation system, AI, and things like that...as screenshot wise, Crysis already has that licked...its the finer details when the game is in motion that Crysis shows its 3 years of age...

SullysCigar366d ago

Same. They nailed it with Horizon. The trouble is I also want a new Killzone! Can't I just have it all?!

jznrpg366d ago

I’m with you I want Horizon 3 , Killzone and new IPs

badz149365d ago

I have yet to play Burning Shores as I just started Forbidden West (bought at launch, just unwrapped last weekend LOL) and playing on PS5.

man...I still can't believe the graphics especially now I'm playing it on my LG OLED. that graphics and with stable performance backing it up, GG really is the master of their craft!

Vengeance1138366d ago

32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III

Shane Kim366d ago

That's kind of a huge drop though. It's only been two games.

VersusDMC366d ago

One year after realease HZD sold 7.6 million.

https://www.noobfeed.com/ne...

So not a drop off.

Unless you're saying a HFW should have sold as much now as HZD sold in 5 years?

Vengeance1138366d ago

It's been 3 games, this includes Call of the Mountain. Also no, its a great improvement over HZD.

solideagle366d ago

lol you are comparing:

HZD: 28 February 2017 - May 2023 (6 years+)

HFW: 18 February 2022 - May 2023 (1 year+)

We will see if it surpass original number.

Phoenix76366d ago

@shane, 2 full main games, 2 DLC add ons, 1 VR spin off game, oh and a an official LEGO set.
Not too bad for an ip that's only been on market for 6 years

Wow, very impressive. I didn't know the numbers were so high for Forbidden West. Still playing through it myself

thesoftware730366d ago (Edited 366d ago )

Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.

I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.

blacktiger366d ago

thank you fps lover, I'm with you

talocaca366d ago

Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.

The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.

OzzY-waZZy366d ago (Edited 366d ago )

Kinda wish they move on from Horizon tbh.

potatoseal366d ago

They are probably working on mutiple projects. One of them is Horizon 3, but another is a multiplaer game and probably somehting else.

Imalwaysright366d ago

There were rumours that they were working on a Socom reboot.

Killzone 3 is playable with mouse & keyboard on PC via RPCS3 & KAMI

Still looks secure 2 gens later... one of my favorite ps3 moments. With 3D and move the game is on another level

MadLad1117d ago

PC almost always ends up the best place to play games, even if it takes a while.

What would you rather play decades down the line? A game at a fixed resolution and frame, considering you have a working disc, and the hardware?
Or run it on an emulator that can update the experience all around, and let you use whatever control input you prefer?

If you insist on the former, it's really only for the sake of nostalgia.

Applejack1117d ago

I disagree. The main draw for consoles has always be the simplicity of just putting the disc in / downloading it and playing without worrying about anything else. The average person just wouldn’t want to deal with emulation even though it’s very important for preservation.

Terry_B1117d ago

Even emulators are super simple to use.

jukins1117d ago

Youre getting flak because people on here thibk of themselves as pc wizards. But honestly most poeple try and go get emulators and romz they end up with malware.. yes theyre "easy" if you know the basics but alot of people dont. That said the fact that its taken nearly 20 years to get a sustantially better experience for ps3 games than on its native system shows the complexity of getting bc to work. Sony, if they have any intention, should just invest in a vastly better psnow experience.

1117d ago
Vegamyster1117d ago

jukins

Most people who emulate don't get malware, you'd have to be going to some weird sites for that to happen, heck years ago people were getting sketchier ad's resulting in malware warning on this site if you didn't have a ad-blocker lol.

SinkingSage1117d ago

Can't get malware if you legally dump your own games, which you should.

Rachel_Alucard1117d ago (Edited 1117d ago )

That's fine if that's the main draw, but it doesn't make it a better experience, just a preference. Having the freedom to do the things you can do on PC is what the appeal of PC is. Buying a game on PC means you never have to worry about the console makers just deciding the next hardware shouldn't support the generation anymore, which means everything you bought is stuck on that hardware instead of moving up with everything else. Nintendo uses this tactic to keep reselling the same games over and over at inflated prices. Sony cut all previous gens off the PS4 and sold it back to people in a poor attempt with PSnow. While the PS5 supports PS4 games, that may not be the case in the next gen after this. No to mention shutting off all the previous stores and updates completely. Even MS stopped making new BC titles at some point, so now there's a big list with 17 pages of titles that are not playable on Xbone and are just trapped on older gen. That's not a problem on PC, the reverse happens where you only have to worry if your hardware can play the newest releases at ultra with no issue.

Shhh don't say that aloud! You're going to trigger a lot of console infidels here.

Shane Kim1117d ago

I rather play it when it's available then wait 10 years.

MadLad1116d ago

Did you purposely miss the entire point of my post?

Inverno1117d ago

Well that's the beauty of still owning a retro console tho. Those who usually complain about emulation are just being blindly loyal to a company. Emulation is great for many reason, but if I still owned the console then I disagree nothing beats plugging it back in and going down a nostalgia trip

Top 10 PS3 Games We Hope Come Back On PS5

Resistance, Dead Space franchise, Splatterhouse, Lollipop Chainsaw, Brutal Legends, Alice Madness Returns, Enslaved Journey to the West, Mass Effect franchise. Also wouldn't mind seeing a new Wild Arms game remake or HD remaster, the Xenosaga trilogy, a new Parasite Eve, a new Dino Crisis just too many games to list that are forgotten and left in the dark now adays.

Sciurus_vulgaris1295d ago

The PS3 is difficult to emulate. PS3 backwards compatibility on PS5 would require translation from PowerPC to x86. Additionally the PS5 likely would have to mimic the PS3’s GPU and CPU.

This is what pops up on my web browser. So I can't even read the site. So, forget that. They don't need my data.

But let's get something straight. OG Xbox had around 1,001 games. How many are BC on Series X? **39** THIRTY NINE. Come on! That's wack BC. You can't tell me that's a complete list. Talking about commitment. Game preservation. Ridiculous. Covers nothing.

How many games released on Xbox 360? Around 2085. How many are BC?
568. That's it. Around 1,517 are **MISSING** Stop playing. Tired of that nonsense.

Anyway, the only games I really want from PS3 that would be awesome are Motorstorm and MGS4. I'll take BC. I'll take a remaster. I'll take a remake. If not those, then Killzone 2. And in VR, maybe Sports Champions, House of the Dead Overkill and the Time Crisis games.

That's all I need. But we've gone over BC again and again in every possible way. It wasn't that important because Sony sold 115 million consoles without it. That's proof enough with no outcry. And PS5 has damn near all 4,000+ PS4 games BC. It's not PS1,PS2 and PS3. But that's plenty. I'll take more but you get what you get.
