I too would take fallout vegas over ff13 it would be a different story tho if they make another ff game like ff7,8,9,10 but 13 i disliked, i did beat it but i was unhappy with the story the linear maps and even the customisation of the weapons and characters

What would really matter is if JP devs got the clue and began utilizing Western story elements into their own games.

Though if you look at titles like Chrono Trigger, the better PC date sims, they've already been using those "Western" ideas for years. Just haven't been putting the creative energy into the general market.

Off topic a bit but... who's excited for this game?

I'm EXCITED, this game will most likely have a better story than Fallout '3', the graphics will look improved but still awful. My only hope is that after X level you don't become UNKILLABLE! In Fallout '3' after level 15 I think no one could even get me down to half health the final boss was weaker in comparison to the starting enemies, the map was lackluster brown and worst of all the character interaction was very bad.

My only complaint with this advert is that it doesn't tell you much about the game, in fact the only information that can be found is a vague promise that this game doesn't feature those issues. What about the gameplay? the story? Even the screenshots are tiny.

Strange that the Japanese have not embraced the concept of a thinking, dynamic RPG since it can be argued that Yu Suzuki was the first to experiment with the idea. Although linear in many ways, Shenmue is the first (FPRPG) that you could play over and over and discover new paths and encounters depending on your actions. Shenmue III FTW!

I myself also couldn't enjoy this game.
The game is not for Japanese.
bethesda should have considered it before showed us the stupid advertisement. They cannot run down other games.

go to the beth forums and protest the lack of move support for their upcoming games. could you imagine even playing fo3 with move support; would be fantastic.

Why would it be? The game's shooting mechanics aren't all based on precision shooting anyway, aiming at something with move and then going into vats wouldn't feel natural AT ALL so it's useless in that sense. It's harder to use it to navigate menus and chat options so you'll just use the d-pad anyway, so it's useless in that sense.

Tell me why it would in anyway be 'fantastic'. Move is good for some games but this isn't one of them.

I have zero interest in this. Fallout 3 was pretty good, but I went back and tried to play it earlier this year with the DLC and I found it already horribly outdated. I think Bethesda has some good game design ideas and they make a solid RPG, but the games have so many issues and their current engine is atrocious in so many ways, it's just offputting to see any more games from them (even though I realize Vegas isn't being developed by them but they are using the same engine and same style/design from Fallout 3). It honestly just looks more of the same depressing wasteland and I think I had enough with Fallout 3. I don't really have any interest in another game like this. I wish companies would make more new IPs instead of milking franchises as much as they do, just like I wish more directors would make new, original movies instead of remakes and crappy movies based on books. I don't think it'll ever happen though. The entertainment industry as a whole is getting very, very stale.

As for the whole Japan thing, I think it's just ignorant and maybe even a little racist to say that "it shouldn't be released in Japan" or something like that. There's always a market for any kind of game/movie/book/show/product anywhere in the world. There will always be people who want it. Sure, the sales might not be as good as in North America or Europe, but to say all Japanese people don't want it and therefore they have no reason to release it there is just a stupid generalization.

People aren't being racist, they're just exaggerating the fact that the profit margins in Japan will be very low due to the very few willing to accept western gaming that it's almost not even worth taking the game there, but this is just an exaggeration and not a way to say 'Japanese gamers shouldn't be allowed to play this'.
