Konami Corporation's first quarter financial results show increases in revenues and profits, largely thanks to the success of the Japanese firm's Digital Entertainment division.
For the three months ended June 30, 2007, net revenue was up 5.2 percent on the same period last year to total 60.7 billion yen ($509.4 million). Operating income stood at 7.01 billion yen ($58.9 million), having risen 16.8 percent, and net income shot up 82.2 percent to 3.86 billion yen ($32.5 million).
Konami's Digital Entertainment division witnessed year on year net revenue growth of 8.6 percent to 34.8 billion yen ($292 million). Its results were in part driven by the domestic success of baseball videogames and strong sales of Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer franchise and PSP title Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops in Europe.
