Ex: We're quite surprised to report that Disney's movie adaptation of Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has become the highest grossing video game movie to date, according to Box Office Mojo.
Ubisoft says they are focusing on two "core verticals," and that's to return as a leader in the open world genre, and live service games.
Calling Ubisoft a leader in open world gaming at any point in time would be like calling Dollar General a leader in retail.
I don't think they were ever the leader tbh. I've never really cared for any of their open world games. I do wanna try watch dogs 2 because it looks like it's set in San Fran. Looked interesting
Hanzala from eXputer: "With Ubisoft's practices becoming increasingly anti-consumer lately, the destruction of The Sands of Time Remake looks almost inevitable."
Hey Ubi, here's a gun, don't shoot yourself in the foot.
*Ubi takes gun, aims at foot, empties clip*
Top executives including games boss Sean Shoptaw have also been promoted…
Would have thought ... Well hoped that Resident Evil would be higher on the list
I thought the movie was average but compared all the other video game based movies I've seen, it was easily the best and will most certainly get it on blu-ray once it comes down to a reasonable price.
I just hope this will help to improve future movies and they get bigger budgets, better directors and more respectable actors.
Now if someone can just 'accidently' drop a piano on Uwe Boll's head I would be very grateful.
someone finally got it right.
Well, it also had a decent sized budget that ensured that it would at least be competent. Most game-based movies have embarrassing budgets.
the movie was a big pile of "polished poop" , it had great production value but the story sucked big time( too generic, been done way too many time) especially that horrid ending! like an old saying goes " no matter how polshied and shiny your poop is, in the end its still s poop"
