E3 2010 is almost here! In this episode of the Bonus Round, Gametrailers is back in the LA studio talking about the biggest convention in gaming and what to expect from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. Will Sony introduce a brand new PSP and attempt to enter 3-D gaming? What about Microsoft’s Project Natal – will it be a part of a new Xbox 360 slim redesign? Will Nintendo’s mysterious game-changing 3DS steal the show? All that, plus the experts weigh in on this year’s biggest upcoming games and rumors.

All they talked about was Natal the whole episode, I was hoping they would talk about some of the games they think were going to be revealed. I know Natal will be a big focus, but like 2 minutes of the thing was about games. I am excited about Natal though.

But they cant talk about something that doesnt have much to talk about. They mentioned the only 3 exclusive games that MS has to offer in the next 2 years and Natal has a big ? mark where it seems it will have a lot of software but how much of it will be shovelware? Really going to be interesting to see what MS shows at E3 this really is their last chance to sell me an Xbox.

I don't think MS could have a "bad" E3 showing because MS, more than any other company, knows how to put on a good show. Remember a few years back when FFXIII got annoucned as mult-plat? Remember how everyone went ape $h!t and declared MS the victor of E3? Go back and watch that press conference. Other than FFXIII they didn't show very much. It's the showmanship of the MS conferences that gets the press all in a tizzy. Whether it's Reggie Bush coming out on stage or the Beetles, MS gets how to put on a show. Hell, I loved when they opened up one year with a band playing the Halo music. I got goosebumps.

Can't wait for E3.

I remember that as well with the band playing Halo music. I agree they always have a good showing, last year was great as wll when they skipped all the sales and the boring stuff and went straight into games.

If you look at the actual games, they showed little to nothing outside of multiplat or timed exclusive content. No actual new IPs, actual exclusives for the coming year, nothing but the same staple of 1 or 2 true exclusives.

They always relied on multiplats to bolster their presentation pieces while Sony solely does exclusive content. Heck, the most they did with multiplat last year was to mention AC2 and throw in multiplats in a montage but presentation has always been all exclusives.

Sony has been the only one really showing games for gamers, not just for that year but up coming years. Nintendo mainly focuses on the games for their new base with the non-traditional gamer w/80% of their presentation catered towards that group and then the throw a bone of 20% to the traditional gamer base at the tail end.

This E3 will be no different:
Nintendo: 80% games for non-traditional gamer/20% for traditional gamers at the end of presentation

MS: Celebrities celebrities celebrities, one or two true high end exclusives and the rest multiplat games. Rely on media spin for viral marketing.

Sony: Exclusive content presentation for ALL gamer types using the PS2, PSP and PS3. No muliplat presentations on stage.

If I'm wrong this year then copy 'n paste this and laugh till your hearts content but if you go look back at past E3s, you'll see for your own self.

You are right, Sony tends to have more content where MS tends to have more showmanship. Sony has a chance if Keven B. is somehow part of it to get some good laughs and media coverage, but we all know MS is going to have some 'put famous person name here' at the stage playing Natal. 50$ says Opra gives it away on her show or something.

They talked alot about Natal. That should not surprise anyone. Natal IS what everyone is talking about. What is it? What can it do? How much is it gonna cost? What are they gonna call it? Many questions, not many answers for now. E3 is a mystery for every 360 gamer.

Now the games, they have been announced already. They might have a couple surprises but it won't be for this year. Halo Reach will be front and center. It should be. This is a big year for M$ and Halo is critical to that. Fable 3 is coming and is Natal compatible. It will also be available for PC. The whole Fable thing has been very quiet, to quiet if you ask me.

In terms of the entire 2010 line up, it is as strong as it gets. Mass effect 2, Metro 2033, Splinter Cell Conviction, Alan Wake, Crackdown 2, Halo Reach and Fable 3. Lets not forget an incredible third party line up that caters to the 360 demographic. Bioshock 2, RDR, Crysis, MoH, COD black ops, Brink and of course the whole Natal thing. If you game on 360, you should not have any complaints this year. M$ looks very strong indeed.

Sony has Move and 3D, Nintendo have their games and surprises and the whole E3 this year should be a blow out for everybody. There is ALWAYS a big surprise at E3. What will it be this year? Gears going Multi? Mass effect going Multi? Wait and see.

All they talked about was Natal which is going to be some eyetoy rip-off that will never quite get off the ground and 3 sequels to the same crap we've been getting for 3 years. it's like Microsoft alternates between Gears and Halo every year along with the annual Call of Duty game.

Their first party looks absolutely terrible. Rare is burnt out and Perfect Dark Zero and B&K Nuts and Bolts reflects this. Everyone knows Rare sucks now.

Seriously, Microsoft, lock down some EXCLUSIVE HARDCORE GAMES NOT MULTIPLAT DLC AND PC GAMES. GET OFF THE NUTS OF THE WII'S SUCCESS!

I swear, all they see in Natal is an attempt to foil some of Nintendo's market. Same goes for Sony. Motion control is probably mainstream gaming's biggest fail in history.

It seemed that everything seemed to focus on Natal, and not much about any potential games down the pipeline. And yes, even they seemed skeptical about Natal, at least in regards to gaming purposes. Hopefully, Microsoft has more to talk about than just Natal, otherwise I would be extremely dissappointed and concerned about the future of the XBox.

I think the main thing I'm looking for MS to do at E3 is to keep Sony out of it. As in, let's not get any shoulder taps followed by "look what isn't a Sony exclusive anymore" thing. I want to see what is coming out of the MS Game Studios and what makes the 360 its own. MS has the ability to get some major things going from people like Rare and Lionhead, so let's see something come out from them that we can be excited about.

Basically, I would rather see Rare be the shoulder tapper than a third party!

MS better announce some hardcore exclusives at their E3. Seems they are betting on Natal, but I for one am still a bit skeptical. MS needs to secure more first-party studios and pump out some exclusives. I will be tuning in on Microsoft's E3 day 1..... I hope I don't "facepalm" myself at the end of their presentation.

MS simple does not have the number of studios to pump out an array of exclusives every year. They have what 2 or 3 1st party studios? and a few 2nd party studios like Epic.

Also, don't expect MS to start buying studios either because they won't until they have achieved what they'll consider as an irreversible success with their console. Until then they'll hedge their bets by not buying studios but instead by securing half commitments through timed exclusives and DLCs.

I mean what did u guys expect from MS? To pump out games and original IPs when they don't have the necessary development teams? They have money but they need more than money to create games and original IPs. Go research what Devs MS has.

MS only has 9 in-house studios. But I don't even count BigPark and their Xbox Live Productions team. I think there are only 2 active studios that MS has. Which are Lionhead and Turn 10. The other studios have been really under the radar... MS has to step it up somehow. I am happy what MS have done for the gaming community such as Xbox Live, great line-up of games, etc.... But for some reason, MS has been slipping a bit in terms of catering to their Hardcore fans looking for hardcore games....

Come on MS!! Don't do this to yourselves..

Last E3, Microsoft was able to announed a couple a great console exclusives in L4D2 and Crackdown 2 and the unveiling of Natal.

I think there should be a couple of great games announcement this year as well. Here hoping Killer Instict3 and maybe a FF13 versus megaton.

But Microsoft is already looking strong with Reach, Fable 3. and Natal. Can't wait for E3.

That is something you're HOPING for? Dude, that's a type of announcement that has gotten Microsoft into the kind of first party, true exclusive rut that MS is in right now.

Do you seriously think that, after seeing how poorly the 360 version of FF13 did against the PS3 version and how so many other of these "pick-offs" by MS of that kind have failed to put the final nail in the PS3's coffin (and actually failed to make sure those other nails were secure so it couldn't get OUT of the coffin like it did in the latter part of 09), this type of thing will be what gets MS back their insurance policy on second place? Are you effin KIDDING me? That's what GOT them into this mess and what GOT them all these criticisms from the other side, and you just want them to do it MORE?

How about instead hoping that SE makes an exclusive 360 FF game that will use all of what the 360 can do (maybe using Natal) or something like that? How about hoping instead that Microsoft tries to get more first parties involved instead of becoming too dependent on the third parties (if they aren't already)?

Or are you just wanting them to score it only because you want them to "stick it to the Sony fanboys" as if this was some sort of war in which you cannot win without stealing all the weapons that you can get?

I mean, seriously, why do the 360 faithful (and I don't mean that as an insult) think that they are entitled to every single PS3 third-party exclusive out there.

And yes, I'm aware that Wada would slit his own mother's throat for a nickel without thinking twice or having any remorse for the murder, and Microsoft would probably ask him to do that to someone ELSE'S mother for a penny (which he would also do without thinking twice).
