"We look forward to unveiling Insomniac's next PS3 exclusive properties in the near future."

I read PROPERTIES, making me think, more then one game

*Gets all happy smiley :) =) ;)*

Pennywise5117d ago

IG won't stop making PS3 exclusives.

BeaArthur5117d ago

Pennywise...I think they will because EA doesn't do exclusives. Anything they are already working on will obviously be released but after that they are probably done doing PS3 exclusives.

Pennywise5117d ago

Bea, Its ONE game. The deal was for one game... IG will not stop making PS3 exclusives. You can mark my word on that one.

Chubear5117d ago

lol dude, you're making sound like EA bought them lol. EA didn't buy IG they're working on a new game together where IG makes the game and EA publishes it.

I think some people are looking to use this news to bite back but there's nothing to bite. IG, a 3rd party developer is making a new mulitplat game.

They weren't bought, and they havent' stopped making exclusives for the PS3 and their well known PS3 exclusive IPs are still exclusive.

BeaArthur5117d ago (Edited 5117d ago )

Chubear...technically they don't own either the Resistance IP or the Ratchet and Clank IP, Sony does.

Pennywise...the deal is for a new IP, they haven't said how many games.

So you are both saying this deal is somehow different from the Bungie deal? All we know right now is that EA has signed a deal with Insomniac and that EA doesn't do exclusives. Not to mention that Insomniac has made it clear that they want to broaden their reach. We don't know the length of the deal or any other details. I could be wrong but I don't know that we will be seeing any more Sony exclusives for awhile (after R3 and possibly another Ratchet and Clank).

eggbert5117d ago

that if this multiplatform games sells well, they are going to continue that franchise. If it doesn't, they probably won't continue the franchise. It's just business for god's sake.

Qui-Gon Jim5117d ago

I'm sure that if this relationship works well for both of them, Insomniac will probably move away from PS3 exclusives in favor of their new IP. That is, of course, if their contract with Sony allows it. They may very well have an obligation to make a certain number of exclusives. That would explain why Insomniac created a second studio. Like others have said, the old Insomniac continues on exclusives, the new one on multi-platform.

Trroy5116d ago (Edited 5116d ago )

Independant studios do business with multiple publishers. Since publishers don't like studios to internally shuffle teams, they tend to fund an entire physical location, of which IG has two.

I feel pretty confident that Sony will be publishing the 2 games made in IG California, and they'll be exclusives, and that EA will be publishing the one game made in NC, and it'll be a cross-plat.

This is different from Bungie's relationship with MS, because Bungie is no longer working with MS, after Halo: Reach is over and done with, while IG is still working with Sony, despite working on a project with EA. Bungie will have one publisher (Activision), and IG will have two (Sony and EA).

RedDevils5116d ago (Edited 5116d ago )

so you saying, Mass effect is not exclusive oh right mr smart guy

BISHOP-BRASIL5116d ago

Wasn't that thing running earlier today in my PC the same Mass Effect 2 i did watch my friend playing in his house 1 month ago? Man, that's one hell of a rip-off clone, it gone as far as to say Mass Effect 2 and have both EA and Bioware logos, EA should sue whovever did this! /s

rockleex5116d ago

While the old one will keep working on Ratchet and Resistance.

BeaArthur5117d ago

Sounds very similar to what has happened with Bungie. Their last exclusive will probably be R3 and it will most likely be unveiled at E3 and released in the fall.

Chubear5117d ago (Edited 5117d ago )

Bungie where THE main exclusive developers for the 360 and were not independent. IG games were not the main developers for the PS and have always been known to be 3rd party independent.

This isn't like Bioware either. EA acquired Bioware and Bioware is EA now. IG is not acquired by EA. They just have a partnership w/ multiplat games.

I know you guys know this well but are just looking for drama but the more you try to use this as a poking stick the more you're going to feel it from the other side when some major things are announced at E3.

Now a major story would have been if IG are now developing an exclusive 360 games but ofcourse rejoicing at multiplatform games instead of exclusives.

Simon_Brezhnev5117d ago

i assume their North Carolina studio is doing multiplatform games

Arnon5117d ago

"Bungie where THE main exclusive developers for the 360 and were not independent. IG games were not the main developers for the PS and have always been known to be 3rd party independent."

Bungie has been independent since the launch of Halo 3. They separated from Microsoft to work on their own free time. However, they continued to make Halo games.

It's the exact same thing with Insomniac. Sony owns R&C and Resistance, but Insomniac is still independent.

Monk3y5116d ago

Insomniac Games's and EA Partnership contract covers _ONE_ new IP and ____ONE_____ game for now :) But Ratchet&Clank and Resistance series will always be on Sony platforms

booni35116d ago

your wrong. Insomniac owns all of there IPs. They could make an xbox rachet and clank if they so chose, but heres to hoping that they dont.

WOW...this just great for the 360 crowd...A developer of the caliber of insomiac bringing their great talents to everyone...This must be the beginning of the reveals...Sony VP said the other day that the exclusives were coming to and end...When are we gonna here that Gears is multi-platform??...Cliffy-B said there was only suppose to be 2 Gears...

EA is on mission lately...first IW...they said they want a deal with Bungie...now this...what about Activision...they have to reply...

Ju5117d ago (Edited 5117d ago )

It's more like GeOW3 -> 360, Bulletstorm -> Multi.

Same with R3 (?) -> PS3, <new IP> -> Multi.

edhe5117d ago

me ->360, dragon age -> multi..

mrv3215117d ago

Shortening words like Mass Effect is a bit pointless especially with so many other games that share ME.... Mirrors Edge, Windows ME, and probably a ton more.

Just call it Mass Effect.

Hopefully I will still see a Resistance 3, PS3 exclusive... mind you there's one thing I can say about EA.

DEDICATED SERVERS ON THE 360, thank all that is holy I'd hate for a game to co(d)mpermized would with P2P... I love me some 24+ player matches... I love me 0 player R2.

jerethdagryphon5117d ago

one game or 5 doesnt matter, sony own the important ips anything ig make will be theres

i dont think thell stay multi platform
i think thell find disk space limiting eventually

AAACE55117d ago

I'm confused! I thought I read somewhere on here yesterday that Insomniac was staying exclusive to Ps3! I swear, news in the videogaming industry changes quickly!

Next thing we will hear is Avtivision has run the CoD franchise into the ground so bad that they are trying to give it to respawn, but they don't want it either...lol!

Such a shame things worked out like they did. I really like the MW games and up until a year ago, thought that Activision was better than EA!

Bodyboarder_VGamer5117d ago

IG expanded their studio and now they have the man power to work on multiple tittles. So I still expect a PS3 exclusive game for E3 but too bad that it'll probaly be Resistance 3 instead of something new.

kevnb5117d ago

Id really like to see what they could do on pc!

nycredude5117d ago

Only in this day and age would this be called an Xbox move. It's a business move and they signed with EA, not Xbox. Seriously they can change N4g all they want but it's still the same cesspool it was.

k-Lan5117d ago

That's why you're still posting in here. Same old crap.

gtamike5117d ago (Edited 5117d ago )

gimped game coming soon? (cause of limits)

Socrates5117d ago

Both consoles have limits, just in different areas. The 360 excels at some things and the PS3 at others.

Christopher5117d ago

I'm confused as to how this is a huge blow to Sony? They will still develop exclusive titles for Sony and now they will develop additional games that will still be available to those who own a PS3.

DatNJDom815117d ago

So now the 360 fanboys are dickriding Insomniac now? After saying they were corny developers. Wow you guys are something else. I just LOL @ ya.

absolutecarnage5116d ago

Look in the mirror buddy you guys were bashing bungie and now your all excited for what they make for the ps3. This Fanboy crap goes both ways don't try to make it one sided. By the way I LOL only at you

cloud 2795117d ago

Isn't this for their studio in NC and not in CA?

Imperator5117d ago

Insomniac was expanding for a reason. They'll still make Ps3 exclusives, but will also make multiplats. IMO, they deserve as much respect and success as they can get. Good luck to them.

zeeshan5116d ago (Edited 5116d ago )

EA is well on their way to reach the top once again. I mean just look at them! They are getting all the good stuff. Crysis 2, new insomniac IP, Dead Space 2, Bioware etc etc. I wouldn't mind to see EA back on the top. Just can't stand Activision anymore!

Kevin ButIer5116d ago

Are getting insane deals dont u think?

specialguest5116d ago

Insomniac goes multiplatform, and Bungie will most likely do the same under Activision's umbrella.

IdleLeeSiuLung5116d ago

They will probably release another Ratchet and Resistance 3. After that, I think everything will be multiplatform. It doesn't make sense financially otherwise unless you are owned by Sony.

With that said, this few months have been crazy. First Bungie forms partnership with Activision and goes multi-platform then Insomniac goes multi-platform with EA. Just recently Bulletstorm is multi-platform... how the industry changes so quickly!

why don't sony just buy these guys there like batty and bench for real

Forbidden_Darkness5117d ago

They didn't want to be bought up and Sony respected that.

Ghoul5117d ago

not every company acts like ms and makes aggressive takeovers.

sony respects theyre partnership and doesnt buy them.

who cares ffs if they go multiplat, seriously you guys need to get over it.
sonys ip`s stay exclusive microsoft hopefully gets its own exclusive ip from insomniac too.

you know who wins ???

WE GAMERS WIN - hands down.

sikbeta5117d ago (Edited 5117d ago )

This Deal With EA is for a Multiplat Game, so x360 will not have an Exclusive Game, but they'll Enjoy an Awesome Game Developed by Insomniac as PS3 Owners Always Do, good news for them...

@Ghoul

I know what are you saying, but this is EA we're talking about, if there is no "Deal" (you know) games go Multiplat...

dangert125117d ago (Edited 5117d ago )

i don't care i actually own a 360 right now. i just wonder why they were not brought .

what agressive tactics has ms used to buy studio's? :S

ill have both 2moro so wont really care which they dev games to

Ghoul5117d ago

jup thats why i said "microsoft hopefully gets its own exclusive ip from insomniac too. "

i meant in the future, i love exclusives on all consoles.

AAACE55117d ago (Edited 5117d ago )

Aggressive takeover...lol!

Is that why MS allowed Bungie and Bizarre Creations to go back to being independent? They didn't leave on bad terms, it was a mutual agreement. The studios wanted to do something different. MS kept the IP and would find different studios to make those games, while a good working relationship was set up and those developers would always want to put their games on a MS console. The developer is now free to create whatever they want.

Yeah man, that really was hostile...MS are savages...lol!

Insomniac are a talented studio! I tried to play R & C and Resistance but couldn't get into them, but because of their talent, i'm sure they will eventually make a game that I will like!

Darrius Cole5117d ago

You can't really do a hostile takeover of a software company anyway. You can do it on paper, but the all the programmers would just leave. In the end you would have nothing but whatever intellectual property they owned but none of the talent that made it.

jack_burt0n5117d ago

@AAACE5

Bizzare creations had nothing but bad things to say about MS, how the hell did you miss that!?

Ghoul5117d ago (Edited 5117d ago )

aehm AAACE5

you really only see the world through your gaming googles do you.

ms is way more for me then just a gaming publisher and console owner.

MS is the worst company i have ever seen in my 29 years, they have bought killed terminated and destroyed so many companys its not even funny.

anyways you guys totally misunderstood what i said, aggressive takeovers can also be made with insane amoutns of cash (50 mio for gta dlc) noone woul be that stupid not to take it.

What i said was that sony instead of ms gathers theyre developers through good deals and great colaborations in the first place.

Socrates5117d ago

Ghoul, frankly you are talking out your @ss.

Sony is the one that has bought up studios left and right. To the point that Microsoft has been criticized for not buying up ENOUGH STUDIOS.

"Hostile takeover"...lmao. You obviously don't have a clue about economics or business. If the owners of a company accept the offer made by the company making the offer then obviously BOTH companies see it as a mutually beneficial business arrangement.

ReBurn5116d ago

A hostile takeover is when a company's board of directors refuses an offer to sell the company so the buying company bypasses the board and goes straight to the shareholders. Paying a lot of money for a company is in no way aggressive. If the price is right a board typically sells.

I'd like to see a single example of a hostile takeover of a developer by Microsoft. They tried it with Yahoo! but ultimately dropped it. Hell, I know of companies whose main goal is to be purchased by Microsoft.

So Sony gets exclusives and multiplatform games, Microsoft gets multiplatform games. Gamers still win.

vhero5117d ago

Sony Gamers win.. Sony technically don't lose anything in this deal in fact they just get more games if anything... Sony gamers are still getting exclusives by Insomniac aswell as the multi-platforms.

IHateYouFanboys5116d ago

sony lost bragging rights, because now they cant claim insomniac as one of their exclusive developers.

and as such, sony fanboys will be crying themselves to sleep, while putting on a brave 'who cares' face on here.

madjedi5116d ago (Edited 5116d ago )

@3.1.1 Just like you and some of the 360 fanboys did when bungie went multiplatform both sides do it, if you weren't a fanboy and just a gamer why would you give 2 sh^ts if sony lost bragging rights or not.

The only reason you mention it is you feel the need to go after sony fanboys, but not 360 ones, funny your name is i hate you fanboys and yet you act just like one. A non fanboy wouldn't go out of his way to attack a specific group of fanboys, they would treat all fanboys the same, unlike you.

Your a delusional idiot if you think any sony fanboys are crying over this, that and any other dumbasses that tells any fanboys to cry more tears ect on articles, shut up, it's annoying, not funny, just childishly annoying.

jack_burt0n5117d ago

@bastard

I dont think so, if the new IP is the survival horror game ps3 gamers lose out bigtime because its not developed for the ps3 it wont be anywhere near the resistance ratchet quality level. Sequels are getting a bit meh to me at the moment.

BUNJIE AND INSOMNIAC has Gone Multiplatform.
We'll be seeing them in the next generation is all that that means.

yogaflame5117d ago

well they are in the down road alreayd since resistance 2 sucks and ratchet is the same

madjedi5116d ago (Edited 5116d ago )

In the down road already. wtf does that even mean? Resistance 2 didn't suck it lost, the creepy atmosphere of the first one which more people enjoyed. Just because i think halo or call of duty sucks doesn't make it a fact. And rachet is the same, just like gears2, halo 3, reach codmw2, or every other series out there basically -_- . I guess your one of the types that believe if a game doesn't sell 1 million copies in the first week it's a flop.

The newest rachet already sold better than insomniac expected it to, r2 was no fail in sales either, to any of the retards that think insomniac are going fully multiplatform and abandoning the rachet and clank series, try looking back to see how many r&c games they have done first.

I'm going to say 75%-85% of the 360 guys boasting/cheering insomniac going multiplatform, will never even buy the mp game insomniac makes, all it is to them is something to throw back at the sony boys.

Since neither bungie or insomniac are no longer entirely exclusive, i wonder if their reviews for their respective games will be the same a questionable all 10's across the board and more of the too much variety or not original enough/too similar bs.

...not yet but 100% within the next 10 years!

..Then Sony will use it like the drop of a hat. They're no different to the others.

isarai4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

They used to be 😞 sure it was always a business, and money's always the priority, but they used to have a very strong stance on supporting artists and creativity. "Dont f#@k with the artist" was a phrase they touted a few times back in the ps1-ps3 era, a philosophy carried over from their music branch PlayStation was created from. It's not COMPLETELY gone, but it's barely there compared to what it was back then, i just want them to return to that.

Eonjay4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

I am highly encouraged by their statement about human creativity. "Dont f#@k with the artist" is exactly what they are saying. But at the same time, I don't think people understand that Sony is a corporation. If they don't realize growth, they don't get to exist. When you say 'Sony', you are talking about a bunch of investors. To speak about them any other way is a illogical and incorrect. They haven't changed. They have been a group of investors since they became a public business.

isarai4d ago

Ugh, i really wish people would stop gambling people's livelihoods by turning a project/game into their political soapbox. Im all for statements and having your own opinion, but there's more people working on this than just druckman, ham fisting your political beliefs onto just seems inconsiderate for everyone elses job security when it can result in a failure due to people avoiding it for that reason.

I play games for escape, im so tired of nearly every AAA game blatantly dragging real world issues to shove in my face when I'm trying to take a break from it all. They don't even bother to be subtle about it, quite the opposite, it's blasted and force fed to you and it's just getting exhausting

Einhander19724d ago

People are taking a whole interview and cutting it down to clips that make him look bad and take what he actually was saying out of context. For example he also said things like this AI has "ethical issues we need to address"

-Foxtrot4d ago

@Einhander

Why defend him at this point?

It’s not taking things out of context, he said what he said.

Old ND would never talk about soulless AI taking over so many creative things they are well known for. The whole “ethical issues” is just a good PR spin people who push this crap fall back on to make their statements not seem as bad. So many AI lovers do this.

AI has no place is so many creative based things.

Einhander19724d ago

Well yeah, because everyone else is using it so they need to stay competitive. It's the same as paid online, they didn't want to go that route but their competition was making so much money they needed to add paid online just to keep up.

RaiderNation4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

AI will never replace humans in game development in terms of conceptualizing new games. Humans still need to come up with the ideas and what they want to implement. However much of the day to day menial coding could be AI driven to reduce production time and team size. I could also see AI being used for bug testing/optimization that could lead to better quality games at launch. I'm actually very optimistic about how AI can positively impact game development.

Good statement but hopefully this holds up

NotoriousWhiz4d ago

People that aren't software developers just don't understand the benefits of AI. People who's only exposure to A.I is the Terminator movie and other related sci fi films won't understand the benefits it provides.

It's not about replacing human labor. It's about making human labor easier.

Many years ago, I had laser eye surgery done. It was performed by a robot. The doctor took my measurements and calibrated the machine to make sure it would do what needed be done. And then the robot corrected my vision in 10 seconds.

15 years later and I still have 20/20 vision.

Eonjay4d ago

AI in and of itself is not a 'bad'. Money is bad. Money is evil, and corporations will do whatever they can to get more of it. They will find ways to implement AI to replace as may jobs as possible. This isn't even up for debate. It is the charge of the corporation to maximize returns for the investors. They have no choice. I'm a developer and I know that my job will absolutely be replaced. Therefore, I have decided to become an AI dev. AI has a lot of potential to help us solve problem on a scale most can't even imagine. The issue, as ever is that our monetary system only ever allows us to focus on greed and fiscal growth.

But I am a pragmatist. Perhaps an AI model can be built to help protect us from our most dangerous instincts and habits. And perhaps Congress can pass laws to protect us from people who would use AI to manipulate and control us (spoiler: they wont).

RaiderNation3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Progress is inevitable. Nobody driving cars today is complaining that the horse and buggy is no longer around. Yes, some jobs will be lost but guess what? With innovation comes new job opportunities. It's how the cycle of the job market works.

I hope this is one of those patents that never comes to fruition.

I already dislike the fact you can pay a significant amount for a online service buy associated games and content on said service and get banned from that service over potentially a misunderstanding the bans are already handed out for flimsy reasons

I'd rather see money invested in a ban that simply removes the offensive players ability to communicate with unknown players allow them to continue party chats with friends but not with Joe blow on cod.

exputers33d ago

Agreed. Blizzard recently banned a college Overwatch 2 player who's dependent for saying "shit." Pretty harsh.

How rediculas really. You can't say a word that's allowed in most PG films and prime time TV but the game is based around killing the enemy team using guns, explosives etc.

It's just backwards.

What your talking about is called block list

In 2006 a spaceship dropped of the playstation 3/xbox 360 i say that that generation was the last great gen with game functions/tech that has yet to comeback

Anyhow the playstation 3 if you block listed a id they could not talk to you in chatroom with either text or voice. But that was pre mind fucked 2018 when people were more human than sheep.

But hey gta 6 is coming out billion dollar budget without a single player custom character creator and without singeplayer coop off/online something saints row 1-3 had on the xbox 360.

I hope this never comes to fruition.
