(RUMOR) Rumblaxis coming in September -- Tokyo Game Show

A lot of people were disappointed that Sony's little conference at E3 didn't talk about the upcoming "Rumblaxis" controller but PS3 Fanboy was not surprised. They have been informed that Immersion has filed for some patents and with it, indirectly filed for the release dates of their new Sony peripheral device that "will now bear Immersion's Feel The Game® TouchSense® Technology logo." When are these peripherals to be released? September.

We had DUALSHOCK for PS, DUALSHOCK2 for PS2 so why not DUALSHOCK3 for PS3. Makes sense to me.

Sony had a patent problem with the dualshock force feedback feature making them lose the rumble, and sony didnt want just a controller with NO rumble and nothing else, it'd be boring, and they'd get alotta hell for that so they put the sixaxis in, now they're adding rumble because they fixed problems with patents, and also people are wanting it, so now they're adding rumble and sixaxis, i dont want rumble honestly, shorter battery life, hate the shaking when the controllers on my gut and im asleep :(

I read somewhere that they might change the anolog triggers a bit, although that could just have been a rumor.

I know a lot of people recon that they need to make the triggers a little concave or come out a little. But I recon they only need to make them rubberized like the anolog sticks.

Well that's nice. Rumble is nice but after playing games without it I don't feel that it's a make or break portion in gaming, but I won't deny that I do like it on the 360 and Wii so bring it on Sony

u fool they cant call it the dualshock 3 bcuz the dualshocks had 2 magnets spinning for the rumble, who knows, the touchsense may have 1 or even 4 or something, i prefer shockaxis

is that I have been calling it the "Rumble-axis" since late Dec. '06 when Hori was toying around with the idea or at least talking about rumble back then. I call bollocks and say that someone scoured the comments section and deceded to use the monicker used by yours truly. Does anyone know how long this has been a working name for the controller? Damn, TGS is so close now that E3 is in the middle summer. I think Sony is going to Win TGS. Nintendo has there own event before TGS and then yo u have Sony and MS going at it. I bet Sony is going to bring the Team ICO's game, Final Fantasy XIII/vs, Kingdom Hearts, White Knight Story, and of course MGS4 will be further along.

OFCS, use your brains. It's not officially called the "Rumbleaxis". That's been put in quotes because it's only what the article's author was calling it.

It'll probably be either ShockAxis or SixSense, but I can't see Sony choosing such a lame name as RumbleAxis.

Rumblaxis is Dumblaxis. I don't think Sony will let it street without a catchy name. I like SixSense, but DualShock 3 would be more of an homage to the old school. Who knows. I'm sure they'll come up with something. Regardless of what it is, it will have its fans and detractors alike.

Maybe "rumble" *is* last generation. Don't forget this new TouchSense technology involves "positional rumble" -- eg. hits on your character's left side could be represented by vibration on the left-side of the controller.

That's what the hoopla is about with this new technology.

is a french toilet, you know the kind that shoot up and clean you with toilet water =X lol, j/k, i know alot of people want rumble, i personally dont, so to me a controller without rumble, is like a car with no steering wheel, i cant steer with the analog stick for crap =X, but i have yet to really see its full use in a shooting genre, i think the sixaxis would be cool for like crouching, jumping, and leaning in a game, and pushing it forward for a rifle butt, pulling it back like if youre behind someone and you have a knife at their throat >:D cut their throat like that, it'd be cool, but rumble was more of an annoyance rather than a fun feature to me :(

So will the controller look like the sixaxis or will it look entirely different??? The article sez that it will have a immersion logo - does this mean it'll just b a third party controller - which wil look nothing nothing like th sixaxis. Will it have a PS button :) or an immersion button :(

Well its coming in september, and im guessing it will come with the new PS3's then, it'll prolly say Immersion "RUMBLAXIS"(not real name, hopefully, the sixsense idea earlier was perfect :)) but it will say immersion on it somewhere, still have the ps button etc but just have immersion in the name, that or it'll just be on the parts on the inside and on the boxes
