Activision boss quits

CEO and president of Activision Publishing, Mike Griffith, has resigned from both positions.

Griffith will, however, continue to serve as vice chairman of Activision Blizzard, which will see him take an active part in board and internal strategy meetings.

Hardly. Him quitting is like seeing the CEO of Engineering at Ford Motor Company quit. It does nothing more than force a small restructure that will take place within 30 days. Now, if Bobby Kotick were to quit, then you could see some changes take place but this guy just resigned his working position, not his status as Vice Chairmen on the board of Activisions share holders.

The infinity ward stuff is about the only thing I've looked into, but is this only Kotick's doing, or more of an Activision as a whole's doing? Also, I'm not convinced we public know all of the details of that whole thing. I mean, if those dudes were actually doing something that broke their contract, I can kind of see why they got fired. But we don't know for sure either way. Right now it's kind of "he said, she said" until it's settled in court.

I think I do remember hearing something about him wanting to charge more for externals. I'm sure this is the thought of almost any higher up in a company like that though. He didn't attend the meeting "What not to say in front of your customers."

C'mon, with so many people commenting their hate for the guy, there has to be some juicy stuff about the guy that I don't know!

i figured it was his openness about milking every franchise to death with yearly updates. this was the hole EA dug for itself a while back, but has since pursued more interesting/creative products. Activision doesnt even try to hide the fact that they don't really care about the games industry, just the money they make from it. the company would employ more non-gamers than gamers, because they care less about the industry.

Activision are the dairy farmers of the gaming industry and he is their vocal leader. so personally i hate the whole damned company
