UK: Xbox 360 rises 131%, while DS sales rise by 196% in one year

UKResistance has published some hardcore statistics relating to the sales of videogame hardware in the UK. The figures show the immense growth that the UK games industry has experienced, but interestingly the Xbox 360 clearly leads the home console market this year with 3.14 million units sold in comparison to 1.57 million for the Wii (limited by supply perhaps) and 930,000 for the PS3.

Consoles sold in 2007
40% Nintendo = 516,000
39% Sony = 503,100
21% Microsoft = 270,900

Sony and Nintendo beat Microsoft in every category.
The only one where the the 360 won over the PS3/Wii was in game sales. But it still get an asskicking by the PS2.

yo masterg I agree with you that in 2007 (Q1 and Q2) overall more ps3 ans WII were sold. But don't forget that in or close to 2007 the WII and Ps3 where launched which explains why the overall number for these consoles is higher in Q1+2 in 2007.

The 3 year year warranty, the open letter from Peter Moore saying that they should of been doing a better job and apologizing for the whole fiasco, reimbursing players who paid for the ring of death fix, Virtual Fighter 5 Online with the 360; the list is endless.

And no matter what people say about MS atleast they stepped up and said My Bag, cause I sure don't ever recall Sony apologizing to any gamers for the Massive Amounts of PS2 failures.

i have friends and work mates who have bought a 360 about 11... and ps3 about er 1 .. 3 360's have failed mine included and alll 3 of them got repaired for free. my girlfriends sister says xbox is selling well the ps3 not so good and the wii is selling good too.

I live in the UK & own all 3 of the 'next gen'. And its the opposite with me. All of my friends are exited by the PS3 & could not care less about the 360. I think its seeing how bad pro evo 6 was on it.

Also you should know then how much more space in HMV is ocupied with SONY products then MS. It's just how it is here in the UK. The PS3 in the UK will win out in the long run.

Which means that the 360 is selling more than 3 times the volume of software than the PS3 is.

And we all know that the money is in the software.

I just find it funny how when they mention hardware they don't show numbers and only %. 360 is doing very poorly in Europe and this article trys to make it seem like that's not the case.

At KewlKat007: How is it not doing poorly. In 2006 it only sold 1.92 million consoles... those numbers are pathetic to say the least. Sony has said they will ship 4 million consoles to Europe this year more then double what Microsoft sold last year.

At Morbius: PS3 has plenty of games out now and plenty more in the pipeline, more exclusives then 360... bigger and better exclusives then 360, there is no denying that. What I speak is the truth not fanboy babble.

360 failures in the uk are very big there ain,t no sending back to microsoft a replacement plan is easier for retail oulets in the uk but it also creates higher sales numbers and there aint no console been made worse than the 360 hence on paper figures look good but the realitity is so much different

you are a pr*ck never mind me been a pr*tt if a console fails in the uk you take it back like any think electrical and by law you are entitled to a replacement with in six months of purchase no questions asked even if its over a year if you have had prolems before with the unit you can still get a replacement or repair free of charge its called fit for the purpose hey d*ck head ask trading standards to see what they have to say
oh and when you go to the counter to get a replacement what do they do yes they swipe it so the company knows where its gone hence it goes on the sales receipt
