this could be the nfs we've all been waiting for

although I wish it was hot pursuit

cLiCK_sLiCK95245d ago

Does anyone know what engine they will be using? Its Criterion we are talking about. Im pretty sure they might use their Burnout engine instead. I dont see why.

WildArmed5245d ago (Edited 5245d ago )

lol the NFS that we all had been waiting for was released a long time ago.
It's been down hill ever since imo
But I did love Burnout paradise VERY VERY VERY much.. (best racing game i've played)
So i'll put my faith in good hands, go get em Criterion

morkendo5245d ago (Edited 5245d ago )

yeah, this look promising. just hope its not like mostwanted..sucks

THIS LOOK LIKE A POSSIBLE HOTPURSUIT 3

joydestroy5245d ago

yeah the NFS franchise was basically handed to them last year i remember reading. this is what i've been waiting for.

Those pics look kind of fake, but hopefully it's true. Criterion is win. It sounds like it could be a worthy sequel to Need for Speed Underground 2 which it needed police chases.

tdrules5245d ago

wow this is great to hear, as long as the dlc roadmaps is Criterion's and not EA (Dragon Age anyone?)

delicia5245d ago

Lets see if turns out good like before, hopefully this is a comeback for the series

STK0265245d ago

from what I read, Shift was a great game, shouldn't that be the comeback? Or am I missing something here?

cLiCK_sLiCK95245d ago (Edited 5245d ago )

NFS Shift wasn't open world. Other than that, I thought it was a decent game..

delicia5245d ago

Yeah, Shift was really good, but it was very different than the others NFS ya know? I mean, good but similar to the other games like Underground and MW

TheIneffableBob5245d ago

Well, the original Need for Speeds weren't open world. Need for Speed: Shift is the closest thing to the original games in a long time as it features no open world and exotic cars.

delicia5245d ago

Hmm, I see your point... well, since Shift worked, I think this game can work too, hopefully they don't make some mistakes fans didn't like from past games

NCAzrael5245d ago

I wasn't a big fan of shift. It tried really hard to be Gran Turismo, and while I'm all for some GT style racing, it's not what I have come to expect from NFS.

I realize that NFS started out as a "closed course" style racer with arcade and realistic elements combined, but I've grown to love the open world illegal street racing. Underground 2 is probably my favorite in the series, with Most Wanted coming in at a very close second. It's like The Fast and The Furious without the (arguably) crappy acting. Carbon was a let down thanks to the teammate thing, and I didn't even try Undercover after reading every single review that talked about how poorly they messed that up. I had no desire to play Pro Street when I found out they were making it a legit street racer, though I did end up buying Shift on a whim after reading some nice reviews that I now think are kind of misleading. Oh well, that's what I get for not taking advantage of my Gamefly account.

Honestly, I am excited to have the series go back to an open world setting. And having Criterion just makes it that much better. Burnout Paradise was awesome, and I can't wait to see what they do with the series.

Out of the law is a bit of a weird title but I guess I was so happy to hear Criterion was working on it that I didn't realize that it could be fake. Although I feel that this year's Need for Speed is going to be a good one, hopefully (for the series' sake).
