No matter how you might personally feel about Halo, its hard to argue its on a downfall when Halo3 sold 10mil, and the spinoff ODST is among the best selling games of the year. Halo Reach is likely going to be the biggest games in 2010, the cinematic was awesome, but personally Alan Wake is my most anticipated game of the year, followed closely by ME2, and there are so many other great games this year, we're being spoiled with games.

Nope its not. If anything its on a RISE. Halo Reach looks to be a VERY different Halo and if it's the first game to use Natal support..MAN the casuals are gunna freak lol. As far as the hardcore crowd is concenered COD already destroyed Halo's community.

I've played all the Halos (except Wars, I don't like RTS), and it's obvious the Combat Evolve is still at the top. Yes, Halo 3's online is a lot of fun, but the campaign is, imo, weak. ODST is just.. laughable (again, my opinion).
Since Reach is based on the novel (or at least, I think it is), I think the campaign this time around is gonna be both longer and better. Not to mention the fact the Bungie is probably going to perfect their multiplayer formula. Like I've said before I'm really looking forward to Reach.

I felt like that with Resistance 2, I was let down a somewhat compared to the first one, hopefully R3 will be better for my personal taste. But there is such a thing as a sequal being better, Killzone 2/Uncharted 2 took me by suprise, so Halo Reach might give you the same experience as I have gone through. Good thing you are thinking on the up & up(positive thoughts).

Reach will either rejuv. Halo (since ODST was at total ripoff and failure), or put a nail in the franchise. I think Reach will push Halo to another level..

you make a good point bro, DVD9 is outdated, for the people that still struggle with this issue, just think about CDs vs DVDs. But forget all that, Halo is so big now, Bungie doesn't have do anything but place a Halo stamp on a game and will sell like crazy. Halo Reach should push the Xbox 360 on every level, story, graphics, etc. But it's probably not, because Bungie and Microsoft know they're going to make a butt load of money off it, because of people like bungie. That's what's upsetting to me, because the fans of the series should want more and shouldn't settle for less.

We know DVD9 is too small. But it is what comes with the 360 and has not caused any problems with game quality so far. The developer, especially in the west, have done a great job of working around its limitations. I think M$ did what they had to insure they have full control of the cost associated with 360. Had they put HD-DVD or Blu-Ray in the 360, they would not have full control of the cost. Sony or Toshiba would try to get as mush as they could out of M$. That would be bad for 360 owners and for M$. This is why 360 owners defend DVD (they didn't have to pay $600 for a 360).

Halo franchise, to downfall?
The next iteration of Halo will be the best one yet. And it will DEFINITELY be the best selling. The graphics surpassed anything the PS3 has put out to date, and their starting to get nervous about the implications of the biggest franchise of this generation being the best LOOKING also. That is a frightening thought. It could be an atomic bomb of massive proportions. Now the Killzone, Resistance, and Final Fantasy Franchises are on the downward slide. Hopefully, they'll discuss those soon too.

Is the DVD 9 outdated?
No. Does Microsoft wish they had more storage capabilities? Yes. "Outdated" is a buzz word that PS3 Supporters use to make themselves feel better about the BluRay installed in the PS3. Truth is, the XBOX720 will still use DVD, but a variation of it that will allow them the storage space needed for gaming. BluRay is too slow a format to use for gaming development, and Microsoft will pass. Question also is... "Is the Cell outdated?" It had hampered gaming development for almost four years, and Sony won't use it in the PS4, therefore, it must be outdated also. That's using the same logic.

Playstation Home A Savior for PS3?

Xbox360 Sales Predictions
Microsoft believes that XBOX360 will be outsold by the PS3 in alternating months in 2010. They'll bounce back and forth depending on the exclusive releases of each console. But come Holiday Season 2010, the game is over. The "lead" will hover around 5 million consoles and Microsoft will begin to stretch the lead once again around that time. Project Natal and Halo: Reach will guarantee that fact. And there's NOTHING PS3 Fans can do about it.

Final Fantasy 13 Release In Japan
Let's see if they have a podcast discussing the FFXIII release in the West when it releases. It'll be about 60/40 in the PS3's favor. That won't be much to write home about. Therefore, they'll ignore it. Watch. :-)

So again XBOX360 Fans, enjoy the next few months as the PS3 Supporters continue to be TERRIFIED about what's coming. The PS3 Slim is going to look like the Atari 2600 when Holiday 2010 rolls around.

DVD 9 on the PC is not the same as DVD9 on the 360.

DVD9 games on the PC are made to install on all PC where games on the 360 are not. Not everyone has a hard drive for their 360. Also 2 gigs on every 360 game is not used.

Also when usually when a Dev makes a multiplatform game on the PS3/36-/PC they take into account the lowest common denominator which is the 360 due to not having a hard drive in every system and using multiple discs regardless. This may mean content cut, no HD adio and no language options, design compromises and overall lessening of the scope of a game.

Next GTA game for example must be much bigger if they want to match San Andreas to satisfy their fans. The only way to do this will be for a PS3/PC release as the 360 would have to be split onto multiple discs because of the arcade sku, which will no longer make it a sanbox game but 2-3 big levels. So either the Dev make an inferior 360 version (like 360 FF13 version) or split the game into large levels for all platforms.

About FF13; The PS3 version will have better textures and HD sound all on one disc. I'm sure SE could have fit Japanese audio as well. Also, even though the PS3 version will be the better version it is unknown if content and over all scale has been cut meaning it could have been that much better.

There are also other games that may have been compromised due to 360 DVD9. Games like Rage and Alan Wake come to mind.

So basically DVD9 for the 360 will continue to compromise multiplatform games. So expect inferior versions (360 FF13) or the other option where everyone gets a compromised game.

If the developers can make the game better on PS3 they do. The biggest problem with quality is actually the extra time that is needed just to get PS3 to match the 360 games. It is a very long and expensive process to get games to run properly on the PS3. They have just this year started to get engines and developers working properly with the cell (Outside of the Sony camp). PS3 low quality game have nothing to do with 360. If you haven't noticed, the PS3 game that start the same time always finish last. Your reasoning is full of holes and is an excuse to try and blame 360 for what Sony did by putting architecture out there before they even knew how it worked. Games most likely have been compromised or will be so in the future. Sure there are planty of games where multiple discs are fine but even then each extra disc for the 360 is an extra cost to the Dev so even then compromises may be made.

PS3 has been delivering good to great games from the start. Sure multiplatform Devs had a hard time at first but not now. Besides I'm talking scope and scale of a game not how difficult programming for The Cell was.

360 fanatics will never understand how MS business practices hurt everyone on the long run.

First they rushed out a defective product and gave a 3yr warranty and the 360 gamers screamed with joy. Guess every other manufacturer of goods will try out this lame fix in the future. Well at least to a rabid demographic with little to no consumer conscience.

Second, MS charged money to play their games online and 360 fans didn't complain unlike PS gamers. Hopefully this unnecessary fee is not included in future consoles as mandatory to play games on-line.

Third going with DVD9, I'm sure MS pressures most multiplatform Devs to release games that are equal across all platforms, to the detriment of other platform gamers. I'm sure DLC which could have been included on Blu-ray is made to come out as DLC for all platforms.

You may not mind any of the 360 negatives. You may be totally satisfied with our console of choice but a negative is a negative. Let's not act like it isn't. Blu-Ray>DVD9>CD.

It seems quite a few non-xbox or multiplatform sites are starting to go for the ride on Halo's back.. With most artciles being based on a simple trailer that ses the in-game engine..

Citing how the graphics will not live up to the trailer, gameplay will be eh.. vehicles and blah blah..

Most of these articles are all talk and no context.. Moment I read the title of this story i knew either 1 was another site trying to get some hits or 2 HipHopGamer and BAM! I was right on both fronts :D

Is the Halo franchise on it's downfall? Where on earth does this come from? What doo they talk about in the podcast about this? If anything the game is on a rise and only when Industry 343 develops the next Halo game will we see if the game will continue to rise or begin it's downfall.

Yes it does, look at FF13/Tekken/GTA4 and many other multiplats.

They use not a engine that use the PS3 power, instead they use a multi engine and that's bad for the PS3 architecture, multi engine use more power from a PC or 360 not the PS3 because it has a different architecture, sure the PS3 support the PC architecture, than the engine use not the fully power from the PS3 and that's is the problem and why the PS3 version always holding back status.

It is you will not understand between the different from two architectures, Multi engine ia always better on PC architecture NOT CELL architecture. So it is the fault from developers and the 360 is holding back the game development.

Most developers are going to follow the path of least resistance and just flow downhill that much is true, But there are developers that will ring out evey once of juice a platform has. these are the developer that are like that mircle in the nile river where it actually runs uphill and in the opposite direction of all others. They do whats best and not what comes easy.

But my pointe is that it's they developers not the platform in most cases the ps3 and x360 are closely mathced when it comes to power.

I.E, ps3 was better cpu in the cell
X360 has a better gpu.

1. M$oft has really opened up development and added tools for developers , Like starting this year developers will be able to require the hard drive for x360 games. You will also see more multiple disc games negating the data capacity advantage for blu -ray. Beside the only games that can’t be done on multiple discs are sandbox games.
2. Also you guys mentioned M$oft being finished in japan I agree to a certain point but You’re fanboys because you fail to give credit to M$oft for having a 300 % increase in sales over the original xbox I.E. 450,000 systems sold in japan vs. 1.2 million x360 sold, and counting. And Lost Odessy, Blue Dragon, and Star Ocean all sold hundreds of thousands of copies on a system that at the time didn’t have a 600k user base. I

You say that M$osft is finished in Europe because they love their driving games and you fail to mention that M$oft has not 1 but 2 big names 1 we now is in development by the same team of forza, And every time they’ve made a new interation they get better and better, I.E PGR a European born racer will sell a ton and took awesome!

I’ll give you all a couple of examples. Another article came out a while ago covering UC2 the best looking game CURRENTLY.

and thats the point when everyone says that the nvidia gpu in the ps3 is weak. The cell has to do all of the work typically done by the gpu just so the nvidia gpu can concentrate on it's rendering resposibility's. Thats why you hears xbots saying the x360 has a more powerful gpu, it does, its actually the main proccessor in the x360 not it's cpu. Does that make the x360 more powerful than the ps3, NO. What it does mean is that the ps3 has a far more advanced cpu to aid it's average gpu, and the x360 has a more advanced gpu and an average cpu. At the end of the day none of it matters, its about the games and currently the ps3 has the best looking games, that doesn't mean that x360 games don't look good, but the best of the x360 RIGHT NOW don't look as good as the best of the ps3. That doesn't mean that it will stay like this, already developers are starting to let little slips of the tongue tell us stuff add this to some common sense digging and heres an idea of how I see the future of both consoles.

1. At E3 m$oft begin handing out new debug kits and new rules for x360 game development.

The new 1gb kit allows developers to utilize 64-128mb of memory that had been locked away from developers because the original debug kits only had 512mb worth of ram,"problem how are you supposed to run the debug program on top of your game if it maxes out the 512mb of memory? so most developers set aside 64-128mb of memory out of the game to run it.

2. The xeon gpu in the x360 was originally developed on the directx9 platform but had elements of directx10 and beyond.

Problem was many of these elements were locked to developers until the release of directx11 i.e. hardware based "tessellation", but with the release of directx11 and the new debug kits many of the gpu's hidden potential can only now be released.

3. Motion controls, while I actually think sony's wand will be more accurate, it has been publicly stated that it will require the use of some system resources and be dependent on the ps3 cpu the cell for its proccessing.

What difference do the motion controls make? A bunch M$oft said natal will be launched like a new console, epic let slip that they plan on shipping it with all x360's starting late 2010 and that M$oft plans on selling it to everyone else. The key here is that M$oft also let slip that natal will be using it's own custom designed proccessor, i.e. it won't use system recourses like the wand but will actually add to the x360's power, Now there were reports that the x360 would be redesigned and upgraded when natal came out, heres where m$oft learned something from sony, we all knew that the blu-ray drive in the ps3 was a trojan horse and it worked beautifully, mission accomplished it killed off hd-dvd. So I believe that mSoft won't be selling a upgrade that you can see, you see, natal IS a TROJAN HORSE, they confirmed that it will use it's own custom cpu, it stands to reason that it'll have it's own memory then too. And just how would you connect the natal to the x360, well usb of course. So and that to the fact that I looked up the specs for the x360 and it doesn't have normal usb ports instead they can be used as high speed transit port to the main cpu and memory. Hmmmmm.... so if what many sites reported immediately after the E3 unveiling of natal were in with the excitement of the developers and what we now know the x360 is getting an upgrade it just won't be done obviously. Some of those rumored specs were a six core chip, similar to the one in the x360 now double it's current memory (adding 1gb more worth of memory) and 4gb to 120gb flash memory or hdd space. M$oft no longer wants just a 5yr cycle and their reps have been quoted saying that natal will allow them to reach a 10yr cycle this gen...? Why is that? SIMPLY PUT NATAL IS A TROJAN HORSE DESIGNED TO UPGRADE THE X360'S CAPABILITIES, NOT JUST ADD MOTION CONTROL. More evidence is that almost universally developers journalist anybody in the know are concerned with its price, No ones concerned about sony's price even though you need the wand and a Playstation eye to make it work,(50...for eye+ 20-50 for a wand) and no ones concerned....? Now I did some research and assuming there using basic components the natal unit if it wasn't a trojan horse would be similar in price to the wand+eye combo, (it really only adds, if its not a trojan horse an additional camera and ir unit).

Already games like Halo Reach are showing us that the x360 still has legs and the freeing up of these new resources will give great games, and Natal way more than meets the eye.

4. ps3 will continue to improve and break new thresholds with its current configuration while M$oft upgrades the x360 through natal and we'll see some truly amazing games on it not thought possible before, even if it's cheating a little to do a mid-generation upgrade disguised as something else.

Have you even played the Halo Games? It is a FPS with multiplayer. They same game that revolutionized FPS on the console with part 1 then did it again with part 2 and its multiplayer, then agian with the forge on part 3. It is the very definition of non-linear. It does stuff with mutliplayer that were still waiting to see in other shooters. If you don't like Halo for whatever reason thats ok it's your opinion but don't lie about what it is. So for those of you talking about the re-buys on the x360 the original buys for the fisrt 28 million can’t even buy 3 million of the ps3’s best game. The RSX is tested on the PC architecture not the Cell architecture.

The RSX is develop for the Cell architecture not like the PC architecture where they been tested and compare to the one GPU (Xenos) who is develop for the PC architecture.

The RSX GPU works different than a Xenos GPU, the grafichs on the PS3 is far better than the Grafichs from the 360, so where is the power of the Xenos GPU?

The RSX beats in raw power than Xenos and the RSX is cable of 74.8 billion shader operations per second vs 48 billion. But the Xenos is effienter than a RSX in use, that's why the Cell came in ;)

I can't understant why 360 users think that the RSX is weak? i don't get it, becouse of the Cell? The RSX is made for the Cell architecture.

But i think that halo has such a big fanbase that they can release anything with it´s name and it would sell like butter melt´s in the sunshine. And i wouldnt say that is a good thing because is means the developers dont have to put that much efforts in the game.
