Heroes Over Europe had the potential to be a fun quirky arcade shooter. Unfortunately a combination of repetitive missions, bad in-game GUI, mediocre graphics and a completely barren online environment will cause most gamers to simply move on to other games in a couple hours.
WP writes: "Heroes Over Europe is the sequel to Heroes of the Pacific, the World War II arcade flight sim that pit would-be pilots against the forces of the Empire of Japan. From Pearl Harbor to Iwo Jima, the well-told story underlying its missions was riveting as players saw the war from the eyes of a young pilot who was part of the campaign that pushed the IJN back across the Pacific. I was surprised to see the sequel fall far from the established mark. It's not as bad as what passes for Wing Commander on XBLA nowadays, but one expects a sequel to actually improve on its predecessor."
While the game's barebones plot works without issue, it seems as though the developers have tried to make up for a perceived lack there by adding unnecessary elements like the "Ace Kill" and foolish mission assignments.
Heroes Over Europe is yet another unfinished release, with early customers essentially being unwilling beta testers. Maybe after a patch it will be a regular, halfway decent game, if a bit forgettable. For now, however, it's nothing but a trap. Unless you are a masochist, stay far, far, far away.
