Super Mario Kart, one of the very, very few Nintendo games I could waste hours of my life playing. Such fun games.

I can remember setting a record for myself on Rainbow Road in the original Mario Kart for SNES. I couldn't top it, neither could anyone else I knew at the time. I remember setting it with Mario.

Nintendo has more than a few addicting games, on their 5+ systems... and mario was a scrub mid-tier character, it's all about TOAD!

Certain classics fare better in updates. I have no desire to play 16 bit Mario Kart at this point. I love Retro, but some franchises benefit from their progress.

My list:

1) Demon’s Souls - set a trend for Souls games
2) Amnesia - set trend for survival horror
3) Doom - set trend for arcade FPS’
4) Arkham Asylum - set trend for OW combat
5) Hitman 2 - set standards for sandbox levels
6) MGS1 - set trend for stealth mechanics
7) LoU - set trend for games not necessarily being “fun”, and for (trying to) eliminating ludonarrative dissonance from the violence in a game’s story.
8) Death Stranding: likely to be the only game in the “strand” genre ever. I love it, especially with the Dualsense, but it’s hella niche.

Review - A Boy and His Blob (Switch) | WayTooManyGames

WTMG's Heidi Hawes: "I really enjoyed my time with A Boy and His Blob. I definitely understand now why this adorable little game won the hearts of so many. It might not being the most challenging game on the market, but it’s still a lot of fun. The levels are all very brief, which makes it an ideal game for the Switch. It’s the perfect game to pick up and play on-the-go."
