over this generation. I'm holding out hope that FFXIII is going to be that game that brings me back into the Square fanboy group which I once belonged to.

iamtehpwn5327d ago

Final Fantasy XIII purchased DAY 1 confirmed by this trailer. WOW.

SupaPlaya5327d ago (Edited 5327d ago )

the beginning portion with Snow and lightning 's sister looked like CG, especially when you compared to the cut scene in the middle of the trailer (the part where they start having subtitle for the voice actor/actress).

If it's not CG in the beginning, that first part has higher quality hair and more polygons than the cut scene in the middle of that trailer.

SE, please add English sub or add Japanese VO for the American version. Thanks.

Sigh5327d ago

was that a spoiler at the end of that trailer? Snow gonna be very mad...

AKNAA5327d ago

I just can't get over that girl with snow in the first scene... She looks like she's 12 yrs. old?!?! it just looks soooo wrong man...

WildArmed5327d ago

I refuse to give FF more hype than it already has.
Dont want to be disappointed when it arrives just coz it was overhyped

Noct5327d ago

Up on GT if it's lagging for ppl on the official site.

I busted a nut...twice.

Awesome trailer. I'm still really considering importing this even though it'll be over 100.00 to have at it.

Pika-pie5327d ago

The CG stuff looks awesome but the ingame just looks mediocre at best. I really hope this game does not disappoint me, iv been looking forward to it for years!

Bonsai12145327d ago

you can definitely tell where the cg stops and the in game begins, but the in game is looking very nice too. i'm a sucker for a good dramatic story, so this should be up my alley.

i'm also hoping for some VS news too, but that's probably wishful thinking.

na2ru15327d ago

All of it was REAL-TIME around before half way.

I am pretty overwhelmed.

christian hour5327d ago

Thats exactly what I came in here to comment on. haha. WTF?! KIDDY FIDDLER!

I fell out with square the day I played ff12. Waited so long for that game and when it finally hit Europe I was so disappointed, had to be one of the worst ff's in a long time. The characters weren't likable or memorable at all in my opinion and as the first proper FF game since FFX (X-2 not included) it was a huge dissapointment. Since then I've avoided Square like the plague. Lost Odyssey to me was more Final Fantasy than FF12.

Anyways, I'll probably pick this up on ps3 once its out, although I must say I'm more intereted in ff13 versus. Dunno why it just seems more final fantasy to me than ff13, although ff13 is still lookin good, I was planning on avoiding ff13 but it does look pretty good, gameplay looks like alot of fun too.

ThanatosDMC5327d ago (Edited 5327d ago )

Hmmm... i doubt they'll put both English and Japanese VO for the NA release. Mainly because that would put the 360 version in such a bad position. How many more disks would they need for that?

Unless SE doesnt care about MS then they might put it in the PS3 version... but i highly doubt that.

I dont understand why we couldnt fight on the same plane where we met the enemy but instead we have to fight load elsewhere. FF12 made fighting and exploring so hassle free. It also looks like they intended to make the game play like FF12 but changed the idea for some odd reason.

I really hope Versus would have a Kingdom Hearts type fighting gameplay. It'll be like Final Fantasy meets Devil May Cry... if only. Then all those trailers would make sense.

On a side note: Damn! That girl is tiny compared to the guy! He'll break her open in pain. Lolita?

prowiew5326d ago

Woah!. Awesome trailer!. Hated the song, though

chaosatom5326d ago

The story looks to be interesting, lots of CGI.

The combat also looks fast-paced and pretty deep.

jav09185326d ago

thank god I bought a ps3 slim!

foxtheory5326d ago

In the opening scene, I'm positive that that's Lighting and Snow, who are obviously in love. That leads me to believe that Sarah could be their daughter (POSSIBLY people, not 100% sure). There are other obvious things that are shown, like Sazh's summon. But toward the end, there is a lady with the same mark as Snow, and I'm pretty sure that that's the mark for l'Cies, so that would mean that she's like the rest of the group.

Again, this is all speculation, but could be possible.

Christopher5326d ago

Wish the Japanese release also included English subs so we could import :(

thesummerofgeorge5326d ago

I just hope they come out with an awesome Final Fantasy experience. I'm pissed about them selling out and sacrificing the quality of the game, but as long as the damage is minimal I can let it go. I miss the excitement of beginning a new FF and loving every minute of it, FFX was too pg13 for me, no grit, no harsh language or mature themes, nothing risky about it, it was too commercialized. FFXI, didn't play it for obvious reasons. FFXII had it's charms, but I had little to no emotional attachment to anyone in the game. I need me some FF, hopefully XIII delivers. The trailer certainly looked intriguing.

FACTUAL evidence5326d ago (Edited 5326d ago )

But honestly, the world in FF13 looks like some disgusting jurassic park/starwars bit....and to me that's horrible..but i'm a final fantasy fan...not going to let this stop me from purchasing..still can be a lovely game overall.

Namikaze_Minato5327d ago

Who's downgraded now? One of the best looking games ever made.

Crystal Tools FTW!

thewhoopimen5326d ago

Cg filler... downgraded gameplay graphics.

Rybnik5327d ago

Oh, wow. This looks like it will be a special game after all. In-game hair better than MGS4....facial in-game animation almost as good as cg counterpart. Technically, this game is indeed a masterpiece. The lighting in game is so CG-like. Did you all see the GIANT FREAKING DINOSAUR..IN GAME, OMG!!!

chaosatom5326d ago

The environments and combat are impressive. I agree with that.

But I don't see why you're saying that in-game character models are CGI. There are nothing like that.

Jmlopezbr5327d ago

They have to hype me up so much when there is still months until I can play

The 7 Best Final Fantasy Characters: Unveiling the Legends

While FFVII ranks highly, there's more to the series than one game. Here's Chit Hot's picks for the seven best Final Fantasy characters.

220°

The older it gets, the more I respect Final Fantasy XIII

Alex Donaldson: "Hindsight is a hell of a thing, however, and in the years since Final Fantasy XIII, my respect for the decisions its developers made has skyrocketed. In the two Final Fantasy titles since we see both the brilliance and the folly in alternative approaches - and in Final Fantasy VII Remake, we get a more nuanced understanding of what FF13 was trying to accomplish from many of the same development leads."

Einhander1972128d ago

FFXIII is actually one of the best Final Fantasy games.

I also sort of was disappointed at the time, never as much as the bandwagon. But really all the fantastic 3D rendered cutscenes and I actually liked the characters and the story though convoluted was actually fantastic and the ending was extremely emotional. So much budget and time were put into that game Square had such big plans, I actually have always felt kind of bad for how things played out.

I have been thinking for years how great it would be to get all three games on one disk for PS4 or 5.

Nyxus128d ago

I always liked this game, and I agree, a rerelease for current gen would be nice.

Shane Kim127d ago (Edited 127d ago )

Gotta take off the nostalgia glasses. It's the worst FF. Shiva as a bike, I mean come on.

Elda127d ago

Shiva as a bike is strange but saying FFXIII is the worst FF is not at all a fact, that's simply your opinion.

Terry_B126d ago

*One of the 3 equally bad FF's

DivineHand125127d ago (Edited 127d ago )

When I got my series X a year ago, I bought FF13 for nostalgia reasons but ended up being disappointed. When I first played it around the time it launched, I didn't have a lot of experience with final fantasy games, so I enjoyed it. Fast forward to when I played it again, I found that the game had many unnecessary filler moments instead of just giving us meaningful content.

The game is also very linear and a quote on the article said it best. "It is like a sewage pipe that leads to the ocean until it opens up on Grand Pulse."

The story didn't make much sense either and I believe it is my mistake as I played the FF7 remake on PS5 prior which is a night and day difference in terms of pacing, storytelling and likeable characters even though cloud is aloof.

FinalFantasyFanatic127d ago (Edited 127d ago )

Probably was a mistake to play any of the golden era FFs first (e.g. FF6 through FF10), it makes it harder to enjoy some of the FFs that aren't as good. I think FF12 was where major issues with the series started becoming apparent, and it just got worse from there.

FinalFantasyFanatic127d ago (Edited 127d ago )

I didn't really care for it that much, the only saving grace was that it had a better story than 15 (overall it was better than 15) and possibly 12, and even then, you had to read some of it through primers, like reading a book. Plus the battle system was reasonably fun for what it was, even if it was more the spectacle that was exciting for me (e.g. summoning). And to be fair, the 13 trilogy got better with every games, I still don't like Snow though.

Gamingsince1981126d ago

Ff13 is only good if you haven't played a ff before, or any other games that are decent for that matter.

-Foxtrot126d ago

It is in fact no way the best Final Fantasy game, it's one of the worst

Linear corridors, Cutscene, Fight, Cutscene...rinse and repeat

Dialogue and characters are pretty bad, especially Lightning as the main FF hero, they literally said they tried to make a "Female Cloud" and they failed.

Story was pretty awful

I could go on

I think the only alright thing that came from the game was the music.

Elda126d ago

That's not a fact that's your personal opinion. The game sold 11 million copies between its 2009 release up until 2014 including critically reviewed as an 8 out of 10 or an 80 out of 100. The game does have some issues but it's not at all a fact as one of the worst FF games.

-Foxtrot126d ago

Elda

Not just mine mate

A large majority

So….

Traecy126d ago

N4G commenters such as yourself aren't the majority. The game was well received.

i liked the game alot but i didnt like how they handled the terminology.

i dont mind reading data logs but it had soo many.

but i always loved the music and how it looked. the battle system wasnt too bad either.

but i like 13-2 more :)

i still dont understand why we never got a remaster of the trilogy

Eonjay126d ago

Xbox kinda did. Besides the video files of course which are still best on PS3 due to bluray.

Snookies12128d ago

XIII is a pretty solid game, but XIII-2 is WAY better. XIII-2 was one of the few games I decided to go for a Platinum trophy in, early on. Had so much fun the entire way through getting it too!

Eonjay126d ago

Totally agree. FF 13 was okay but 13-2 is my favorite FF game ever.

shinoff2183128d ago (Edited 128d ago )

I hated this to when it released. I haven't much liked a ff game since ff10 as much , aside from ff7remake. I decided to give it another shot on my series x since it's not on a current ps and was liking it quite a bit(just takes me some time to get over things ) until star ocean 2 remake came out I was all over that.

Square should definitely remaster it or something for ps4 ps5

KillerB127d ago

my favorite jrpg trilogy ever
