There's a big reason why there aren't more racing games on the Wii, a big moustachioed reason sat on rocket-powered go-kart. That hasn't put off Archer Maclean. He's one of those gamesmakers now termed an 'industry veteran', so he's seen it all and thrown in a few gems of his own to boot - like the classic karate flavoured beat 'em up IK+. His latest attempt to add more sparkle to his extensive CV comes in the form of Wheelspin, a game he reckons will have gamers "glued to their screens".
GAMElitist.com "The reason for it is obvious stuff. Game does well. Investors see game doing well. Investors clone game. Their game does well. It's the perfect cycle."
Multiplayer.it: From a game designer like Archer MacLean and Bethesda as a publisher, committed to the achievement of a "mature way" for Wii, it was possible to expect great things. The prospect of a cross between a futuristic racer WipEout and F-Zero looked tempting, but when the game was shown to the public are literally rained criticism.
YLG writes: "I like racing games a lot. Some you can get to grips with within seconds, some involve a steep learning curve, while others also allow you to modify your cars as much as you dare.
Wheelspin, for all of its substandard graphics, does not lack a sense of speed.
It does however lack any sort of common sense control system. A sideways controller, twisted one way or the other, makes you steer and the 2 button makes things go blurry."
