Ive played Uncharted 1 at my mates place and i gotta say i dont understand it at all, to me all it has going for it, is its graphics. Uncharted is the male equivalent to Tomb Raider minus the boobs. But interms of graphics its by far the best looking CONSOLE game ever made, and i as the 360 fanboy can admit that. However the game has nothing to offer me, since i never enjoyed the first 1, i dont see how the sequel can make up for it.

for me to get into a franchise and enjoy it it has to have mee sold on the first game. if i like the first game in a series i gunna get the sequel. although i dont own a PS3, Uncharted 2 doesnt make me want to buy a PS3 for the game..... im more interested in Grand Turismo 5.

But i can see alot of people seem to really enjoy the Uncharted franchise, so it must have something that aint catching me.

I just hope the hype around this game doesnt build it up to a Halo level and leave all PS3 gamers a little disappointed, because the last thing you want is for the game to be hyped to such a ridiculous level that it becomes nothing that you expect.

But Im glad the PS3 has found its Halo equivalent, to a console pusher.

There never has been another console gen where a single console, the PS3, has so totally annihilated its competition, the 360, graphically.

Last gen the PS2,GameCube, and Xbox were all very close in graphical power. Roughly the same poly counts in games, the PS2 and 360 had the same disc format size. The PS2 was better at framebuffer effects and floating point(animation,lighting,etc calcs) for example while the Xbox was better at multipass rendering(teh shiny).

But this gen the PS3 completely destroys the 360 across the board:

* Materials
* Animation
* Lighting
* World sizes
* Number of objects on screen at once

Not trying to belittle the achievment, but thats not such a hard thing to do... But anyway, this brings me to pose my question: Why don't we, as PS3 owners but lots of one specific game? Very few games have sold really large amounts, even the most hyped games only sell into the low millions.

I would be very surprised, but by no means dissapointed, if this game sells more than 2.5 Million copies over its life, which the reviews to date would suggest is plainly unfair.

Amazing at the beginning of the year people were saying it would be year of the PS3 and people were calling them idiots and fools.. Guess they were right.. It seems Sony have really turned it around this last month or two.

Seems to me Sony used the old Ali vs Foreman rope-a-dope trick.

Microsoft (Foreman) came out early swinging hard and landing some big heavy blows to Sony (Ali) while Sony just appeared to lay back against the ropes and take it, not really throwing anything major back.

This has continued for the last couple of years with MS throwing everything they've got in the hope of KO'ing Sony early and, to most spectators (the general public and media),it appeared MS was winning by a big margin and that "The Greatest" was going to go down. These guys were already writing this off as a MS win before the fight had even really got going.

By throwing everything hard and fast early MS have burned themselves out and appear to have very little left in the tank. It looks like Sony have just made it to the end of the 7th round and now know the time is right to start throwing those big shots back.

I think 2010 could well be the 8th round for Sony.....I think i smell a KO coming.

Ummm...no, not by a long shot. The PS3 can't access any more RAM than the 360, so world size and poly counts go out the window there. Fill rate is higher on the 360 and the rest is debatable.

This is almost as good as when you claimed that the difference between Wii and 360 was as big as the the one between PS3 and 360.

you've obviously not heard of streaming. It's a great way to get around memory constraints. Once you get around memory constraints its about power and the PS3 is simply much more powerful. Not bad for a system that supposed to be hard to develop for. Sony should be proud of themselves they have created another amazing franchise to add to their arsenal of already proven exclusives.

The only people who went out and bought Uncharted 1 the first week it came out (me included) knew that sony had something special in theire hands. And i'm glad that people who experienced it first spread the news by word of mouth of this hidden gem.

Because Lord knows that Sony is not going to do it with a big budget advertisement, They would rather invest that money on future i.p. or sequals. during the time I was playing Uncharted1, I honestly asked myself 1 question over and over again. How in the hell can Naughty Dog make this game look any prettier and play any better.

Drake's Fortune is overlooked my many and goes unmentioned way too much. The reviews it got were way shy of what it deserved.

It's my all time favourite game and the closest thing to "perfection" that exists. I've had more fun with it than any other game by far.

I hope the sequel is as good, but it loks to be even better!

exactly the same scenario happened with me. played uncharted 1 demo, liked it but kinda "meh". then much later i borrowed it from a friend because i had finished all my other games and i was looking for some trophies. i ended up beating the game with a big smile on my face and thinking uncharted is the best new franchise this gen. i actually bought the game for my cousin because i felt he had to play it.

knowing how talented Naughty Dogs are, i was sure uncharted 2 would be one of the best game this gen. one month before release, looks like its gonna be even better than i thought.

i hope they will anounce uncharted 3 sometime in the next month. :)

MS just announced their new flagship game. Its called Halo Sales. But instead of shooting things you have to look at websites and see who can post the fastest about how well the game is selling. The more sites you infest and the more crap you sling gets you higher scores and more achievements. However in order to fully utilize this game you now have to pay 100 dollars for their new Live Sales service*.

If you have a decent gaming PC, you might find that you would have trouble finding games for the 360 you don't want more for the PC. I upgraded my PC considerably and am in this exact situation. There's still a boatload of stuff for the PS3 to play, though. Sony makes their own exclusive titles, so they don't come out for PC or any other system. I mostly play Gears 1 and 2 on my 360 and that's about it. I will buy games like Left 4 Dead 2, Mass Effect 2, or Half-Life 2: Episode 3 for the PC. Isn't the next Splinter Cell game also coming to PC? Maybe Alan Wake as well.

've sorted my rig out continuallyover the past few months and years but I'm starting to doubt that we'll see all the 360 games coming like we once did-in fact I re entered 360 ownership because Gears2 won't ever be coming to PC, Fanle2 won't and I VERY muc doubt AW will either. I think the "well I'll just play the better PC version" attitude isn't lost on MS who know they can make more from games as console exclusives-it makes people buy consoles for one thiung, secondly PC games are way easier, even than 360s, to pirate.

The days of practically every 360 exclusive coming to PC could well be coming to an end. Sure Valve and Viowar will still make PC games but I don't see the franchises above releasing another installment on PC and I'll be surprised if, when it's released Halo:Reach does either-I honestly think this is going to be a growing trend from now on in.

There will still be tons of multiplatform games coming to PC. The only key games that interest me on the 360 that I can't get on the PC are the Gears games and Crackdown 2. Maybe Forza 3 and Halo Reach as well. I'm definitely going to get Crysis 2, Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, Rage, Half-Life 2: Ep 3, Left 4 Dead 2, ect. for PC, but I still have tons of PS3 games to get like The Last Guardian, Heavy Rain, God of War III, Uncharted 2, MAG, Ratchet, ect. Most of the 360's lineup HEAVILY overlaps with the PC. I wish this wasn't the case, as I own a 360, but I don't see this trend changing anytime soon even if they do lock up a few franchises like Alan Wake and prevent me from getting a PC version.

I actually liked this article from him. But I must say to anyone who didnt see this coming, what dark ages have you been living in? Sony has been doing so much to hold on to and grab more 1st and 2nd party studios to insure that the PS3 would have a big influx of great exclusive titles. It just took time for all the projects they have been backing to come to fruition. MS made a big mistake in trying to rely on third party titles going multiplat, DLC, and the few 3rd party titles that are exclusive but then make the jump to the PS3 later. They would have been much smarter trying to get more 1st party studios instead of closing them. Anyway Sony has always been on the right track. Its just now everyone else is starting to see that.

Considering HHGs previously pro 360 articles, im looking forward to seeing how many fanboys change their opinion of the site now. Unfortunately a game that isnt worth 60 dollars will sell just because of the Halo name alone. But I guess thats good news for some of you out there because MS certainly seems set to support that over anything else. Im glad to know Sony is doing more to push some new IPs and Ideas out there. Anyway you guys can have your sales. Ill take some great quality games any day.

No. No I'm not. I'm looking at technical prowess, quality and playability. The writing, acting, dialogue, character depth, narrative all go in the pot too-sales NEVER comes into the equation for me as a gamer. Animayions, control schemes, ecerything before sales-just everything.

If it did my Okami loving world would fall apart or should I really be going round telling everyone that Wii Sports "outperforms" MGS4 and Halo3 combined? IMO sales only come into it when you start caing less about the quality of the game and more about profits and gamers should look for the best gaming experiences no matter what they sell, surely?

It would be amazingly good if real quality indicated what sells the best but, as in the music biz it just isn't the case and most of the best stuff is just off the most well beaten track so as long as ND and Modest Mouse make enough back to pay for their next game/LP why should I really care? It's all about the quality-always has been.

EDIT: Soda-you know full well what people mean so don't be a pedant. Is the curent best seller likely to be a better read than Catch22 or The Idiot or Catcher In The Rye? I doubt it. SAles aren't any guide to quality and much as I despise it Meta is even a better judgement tool than NPD data when we talk quality as it's supposedly fairly compiled by collecting expert opinion. Sure it could be done better but sales say very, very little about the quality of anything. Certain genres also sell better or worse and you can't shout a game's quality down just because it's from a more niche genre, can you?

Fact is we gamers, if we're honest, can generally tell what's quality and what isn't but our kind of gamer isn't the norm and most just buy the brands and franchises they know. They're largely ignorant of new things and what's best as they don't read up on the subject yet they represent most sales just as most people don't search for great music and just buy what they hear on mainstream commercial radio playlists-pop chart pap mainly-it's all the same thing to me and is the reason that average, non demandiong fluff rules the sales world in pretty much every entertainment field. Two words-Benny Hill. The most successfil English comic in the US ever-and easily among the very worst we ever produced-damn sales and damn popularity as any guide to quality.

In fact HHG thrives on titles that play off one console against the other - it's guaranteed responses (this is my first time replying to a HHG article)

I didagree. Becuase its a good looking game dont mean i prefer other games first. I really like racing games , so games like forza, nfs, dirt and GT5(if it comes out this year) which outperform uncharted 2. You get what i mean? BUt i still really like shooters but racing games are better for me.

Ok I went and pre-ordered uncharted 2 to see what the fuss is all about so I could try the beta...

First off the controls suck, the animation is horrible besides the jumping which is cool as hell...

The gameplay is horrendous and the graphics are mediocre, def. not game of the year material...

But this is just multiplayer im pretty sure the single player will be good and the graphics will be upped, but goin by the beta no way does this game receive game of the year...

It will either be Left for Dead 2, ODST, or Modern Warfare 2...

I want to add it also has certain similarities to Gear like the 3rd view and the cover system. If you like gears then you will like Uncharted.

Also if Uncharted 2 bores you to tears then you have no pulse then every action movie ever made probably bores you to tears also cause it's way more fun than any movie!

i get what your saying but it doesnt make sense espcially with new ip which uncharted was. the first game is always the ice breaker into the market. its never as good as it could be and never is going to appeal to everyone.
still the next game is usually the big one. halo, resistance, killzone, not so much gears, but you get what im saying. games enter into the market and try to make something out of nothing.

however i dont see how you can seea building falling apart while you can control you character and not get excited when it looks like cg. fan boy or not you go to be kidding me. either way all games arent for everyone.
