Why the Wii needs a price cut now

With both Sony and Microsoft dropping the price of the PS3 and the Xbox 360 Elite, the Wii is beginning to look like an overpriced console. There a few reasons why Nintendo needs to drop at least $50 off the company's best-selling home console and fast.

It's in a league of its own. Take that how you will but the fact remains that the Wii has left Sony and MS so far behind that it really can't be said to be competing with them. It's audience is, by and large, not the same audience MS and Sony are targeting. 360 has been available at a sku cheaper than Wii for almost a year and still hasn't outsold the Wii nor made a dent in its sales.

I guess you didn't read my entire post but that's essentially what I was saying. Sales are still much higher than the other two consoles so there's no real need to drop the price. BTW I didn't disagree with you.

It's funny trashie because the 360 is also outselling the BluRayStation, I'm guessing there isn't much bluray out there, but hey maybe when G.I. Joe gets released on BluRay we might see a tiny boost in consoles.

We all know that the wii is not in the same market as 360/ps3 yes its a console but the amount of gamers that have one?
I think they can and will keep the price up till they start seeing rapid decreases in sales because.The majority of people who want a wii are not really ''gamers''.Says who? the figure differences between wii fit and ea sports active vs other games.
Untill freedom wand/natal/and sony's motion sensors hit stores does the wii have to worry about price cuts cause then the over console are offering the wii x100(motion control,better graphics,online services, etc) 4 a few more pounds...plus that vitality sensors makes me think nintendo are going out off the console market full stop

They dont need to drop it further right now IMO. Even if they did,I dont think a $199 Wii would sell all that many more anyway.

Wii for $99. Same as PS2. They could easily do this and convince the 12 people that don't already have a Wii to buy one.

Wii don't need a price cut. Their the #1 game console out in the market. With their new Motion Plus for Wii Sports Resorts 2, and upcoming games for Motion Plus. I don't think that Nintendo will ever cut their price to 249.00$, when their in first place.

I think the price drop is dramatically overdue even as a nintendo fan. I would almost guess that nintendo is waiting for something... some sort of release that they could package with the system. I am unsure.. it's the curse of following a company dead set on zigging when you expect them to zag.
