Ninja Gaiden Sigma & Virtua Tennis on US PSN Today

Without warning, like the shadowy figures known only through whispers in the night, Ninja Gaiden Sigma has made its presence known on the PlayStation Store. The demo will be available today in the US, one day prior to its Japanese release, alongside a demo for Virtua Tennis.

Also coming out today are trailers for Gauntlet II, The Wheelman, John Woo's Stranglehold and The Godfather. The full version of Ninja Gaiden Sigma is set for a June release (on disc).

**Update**
It is the 27th in Japan, which happens to be the 26 in the states, so by paper it is 1 day gap.

:D

Torch6228d ago

until I confirmed that the demos were actually available online.

Sadly, I went to the store, to discover that they're not. Hopefully any time soon, though...

_____________________________

Just thought I'd share an unrelated, but positive sidenote:

What HAS been just released, is the new Folding@Home update, version (1.1).

After visiting the store, I re-entered the Folding program, and was immediately prompted to download the new update. A recently-related story was talking about improved calculating abilities. What an UNDERSTATEMENT that was!!!...

After the update, my PS3 is now crunching numbers at a staggering .035 seconds per frame - compared to a pre-V.1.1 processing time of .07 spf...That's an incredible 100% improvement. It's estimating a requirement of a measly four hours for completing a total unit comprised of a half-million frames. In comparison, my PC is currently crunching at 54 seconds per frame (over 1,500 times slower!!!)

Sorry, but my enthusiasm forced me to share that unrelated tidbit of good news.

Snake_Doctor6228d ago

That sounds great...
FOLDATHON 2 - MAKE IT SO.
mine will be on Sunday night anyway, but double the processing should be matched with some increased attention.

SIX6228d ago

1. New eye toy
2. EyeVio
3. Ninja Gaiden
and now an update for folding at home.....

Wow! Just wow!

Answer: Sega.

You could change the name of the game in the title that was awesome in its day, could still be around today because of its fun factor with a remake, remaster or sequel, that's in their huge back catalog, that's no longer being produced as a franchise. And the answer would still be the same: Sega.

As much as I love their games and their spunky attitude. That Sega no longer exists that I grew up with. The current company is a mere shadow of its former self with only a few moments of grandeur. Which is why owning their previous consoles like Dreamcast, is a necessary thing if you want to continue playing games like Virtua Tennis. The reason why I have two of them just in case one stops working. And of course emulation on the go. Wink. Dreams do come in red.

Terry_B553d ago

Virtua Tennis 3 and 4 didnt sell well. Thats all.

senorfartcushion553d ago

Both Virtua Tennis and Top Spin have gone. It’s annoying for tennis game players.

CBaoth553d ago (Edited 553d ago )

Yeah....all 5 of them. Obviously, game budgets now outweigh profit for what essentially boils down to Pong. I'm not talking about coders but licensing costs. Boxing, golf, etc...all fall in this category where real life athletes far supersede their worth in video games. Same thing occurred to Sony's Playstation All-stars. Sony spent 2 generations helping to cultivate all these 3rd party mascots into recognizable assets but when it came to license them for a game, they didn't want to pay the exorbitant fee. That game's 1 million sales didn't warrant a sequel and I very much doubt ANY tennis game could reach that sales plateau

senorfartcushion553d ago

It’s funny how you’re over the age of 3 and don’t know how to read properly 😅😅 Why the bizarre response?

Yi-Long553d ago

I couldn’t care less about licensing in a tennis or golf game. I don't need real-life players or locations/tournaments.

Just give me some fun cool characters, some courts/courses in varied gorgeous locations, and use the Virtua Tennis or Everybody’s Golf gameplay. That’s it.

ActualEngineer553d ago

I used to play tennis IRL and in videogames. My 2-cents is that a boring game that was simulating an extremely boring sport, was thrown under the rug, now that the devs can produce more complex and interesting games.

It's like the tetris-like games and games like space-invaders, that stopped being produced ... it is because they were good and simple to make in the early days of commercial videogame development but they are just not as interesting as, let's say, an open-world coop arpg ...

They need to make a true sequel to Ninja Gaiden 2, that was the most satisfying combat I've experienced in a hack n slash game.

micdagoat191604d ago

been playing 1&2 on and off since they were released. I usually will play until I get frustrated then take another year off lol. Nver tried 3 or the 4th one even though they are in my backlog.

Domestupidname1603d ago

I tried to go back to Sigma but good god those controls are just insufferable. Couldn't do it.

Is PS Now fairly consistent with a good internet connection? Do the games offer trophy support?

SamPao3326d ago (Edited 3326d ago )

yes and yes. Go read on forums, you only hear good things once your connection is good enough. (and you don't need a very fast one)
Trophy support is there.

did you even watch the vid?
on 20 seconds they tell you about trophy support :P

JoGam3326d ago (Edited 3326d ago )

They need to bring Socom II

NeonEnigma3326d ago

No, i was mainly concerned with hearing a users opinion of the service so i just commented. But I will be giving this a try tonight

morganfell3326d ago

Yes it works and works very well. Trophy Support is there as well as cloud saves for any game progression.

bouzebbal3325d ago

Doesn anyone know if PS Now supports 3D gaming?
U3 and Stardust were good in 3D.

morganfell3325d ago (Edited 3325d ago )

@abzdiine,

As of January, no 3D support. Now is not set up to properly detect your 3D display and manual choice is off since 3D requires a massive amount of bandwidth. Frame packing doesn't work well of bandwidth that currently supports smooth play in standard mode.

I would think it could be done without a hit but they would have to substantially increase the intial cache size during the game launch on the resident system (PS4, PS3, Vita, PS TV, or Sony TV) that is running Now.

S2Killinit3326d ago

yeah. I have never tried it with a fighting game yet. But the games I've tried worked just fine. Never tried multiplayer either though. I didn't eve know you could also play multiplayer games on PS NOW.

Scatpants3326d ago

It works great on my vita. My internet connection is fairly good, but not the best.

Bobby Kotex3326d ago

When I beta tested it, I had a crappy DSL connection and it worked flawlessly.

Skate-AK3326d ago

I have 18mb/s download and it worked pretty well for me. The game I played was a simple hunting one though.

NeonEnigma3326d ago

Thanks everybody for feedback, i was pretty intent on believing that streaming a game to my ps4 would work like crap, but after streaming shadow of the colossus to my ps4 im actually pretty excited about it. Its definately going to help me knock out some of my backlog!

Jedislayer3326d ago (Edited 3326d ago )

I love ps now, think about 100 + ps3 games streamed right away to your tv. Don't have to wait for gamefly, don't need to get up and go to the store. Instantly streamed to you from an internet connection. Think about it. gamefly two disc plan runs you 22.00 a month for two disc and sometimes you have to wait. 2-4 days for a game. $44.00 for 3 months gets you unlimited access to ps3 games and soon ps2 and ps1. If you are an mmo player you pay 15.00 a month just to play that one game. i think the value is perfect. Even when psn goes down. Think about mmo's when they go down or go down for maintenance you still pay 15.00 a month for that one game. Not trying to fanboy here but ps now will be a good investment. Think about it you don't have to hook up your old console just to play a game.

freshslicepizza3326d ago

it will be a good investment (for me) once they have ps4 games.

andresegr3326d ago

Playstation Now won't include Playstation 4 titles while the Ps4 remains on the market, it doesn't make any sense.

Death3326d ago

Sony has already said they will release PS4 games for the PS4 on the service.

freshslicepizza3326d ago

@andresegr,
"Playstation Now won't include Playstation 4 titles while the Ps4 remains on the market, it doesn't make any sense."

why not? sony already mentioned this along with ps1 and ps2 games.

http://www.gamespot.com/art...

rental outlets are becoming harder and harder to find. they may not see much value adding it to the pay by the month plan since they have the plus service and it's monthly free give-aways but it could be a great option to rent games.

_-EDMIX-_3325d ago (Edited 3325d ago )

"Playstation Now won't include Playstation 4 titles while the Ps4 remains on the market, it doesn't make any sense"

Not sure what you mean. PS now has PS3 titles on PS3...

Not sure why you wouldn't have PS4 titles on PS4. I say this based on with PS4 you have buttons, features etc that make more sense to only be streamed from another PS4.

I very much see them streaming PS4 games in the future as I see no reason not to.

I'm not trolling either, but what would make you think the couldn't or wouldn't?

WelkinCole3325d ago

As a core gamer. Would you consider it going forward even though you might already own a PS1,PS2 and PS3?.

I am actually surprised that its getting good reviews from core gamers.

xer03325d ago

I'm looking forward to playing, Siren: Bloodcurse again! :)

Deadlead3326d ago (Edited 3326d ago )

I tried PS Now for a month and am now really intrigued by the games on demand model, the convenience of such a massive catalogue at your fingertips is awesome. But I have ps3 so the value just isn't there at the moment. Also I couldn't help but wonder why there aren't more Sony exclusives featured on Now?

SoapShoes3326d ago

Yeah every Sony published game should be there! It is great on PS Vita!

StormLegend3326d ago

I love PS now, it just needs more AAA games.

WickedLester3326d ago (Edited 3326d ago )

Agreed. That and games from previous generations besides PS3. Where are all the PS1/PS2 classics?

Death3326d ago

Initial focus is on the PS3 with PS/PS2/PS4 games to be added later.

KryptoniteTail3326d ago

The best games to play on PSNow would be RPGs, Card Games, Board Games, pretty much anything turn-based or non-reflex related. On the opposite side, Fighting games, for example, are absolute trash on PSNow because if you're even half serious about them you don't want any interference, period. Normal online tends to be bad enough as it is for serious players.

I would also stay from anything like 1001 Spikes or Shmups.

Also, when is the price going to drop to a reasonable $10 per month/$100 per year?

Simco8763325d ago

Yeah $44 for 3 months is kind of trash.

Joe9133325d ago

You can tell by your comment you either never really tried PSnow or your internet sucks.
