Full Length Video of Leaked Halo 3 Footage

The leaked video shows more footage than seen before in the one released earlier today. The level they are playing appears to be Zanzibar redone, named "Last Resort"

Personally i don't think it looks anything near Halo 2 graphics. They have done a good job and considering this is only a beta i feel they are on a good track to make this game look outstanding. I really love the redone map as well, though gameplay on it will be completely different from the original.

I'm a beta tester for Shadowrun for the Xbox 360 and the graphics for Halo 3 'BETA' look absolutely amazing in comparison. From what I know, they dial down the graphics way down, for 1) to make the download size small. There's going to be a lot of gamers downloading Halo 3 beta on May 17th ;-) so the size has to be dialed down. The only way to do that is dial down the graphics. 2) they want you to test the physics of the game and the game play, give feedback on changes you would make to the game, and to report bugs, not critic how the graphics look.

I do like the updated map of Zanzibar but I would have brought that out after the game was released and add this map to a map pack along with many new maps. Hopefully this is the only map they redid and are working on a ton of new maps or they should label this as Halo 2.5.

I wish there was a timer on there but i'll do my best to explain. Right after the player dies the first time he spawns near where the Invisability is on the current map. It's a gun that has a square retinal and he never fires it. What gun is that? the outline looks like it has a blade on the front and pistol handle on the back. Any ideas?

The framerate didn't have any issues. It was smooth as butter. What you guys are seeing is either the result of an underpowered PC, or poor encoding.

I made a version which is 100MB, deinterlaced (makes it much smoother, gets rid of the framerate problems, and eliminates all of those annoying lines), re-encoded, and without the audio. It looks a thousand times better than the version above. Here's the link:

Its not all ways about graphics in a game that may or may not sell the game. Back when Xbox had better graphics then PS2 in ever game. (just like the PS3 will have on the 360) at Game stop we still sold more PS2 games then we did for the Xbox. What most gamers have to ask them self. Is the PS3 worth $200 more for these better graphics? In third party games (like most of EA sports games) NO its not worth spending $200 more for a PS3, so the only time you really see the FULL power of PS3 is in First and Second party games. I'm an avid Halo 2 player and I don't know if I seen anything that is mind blowing or very "next-gen" about Halo 3. Maybe the defense grenade but that's it.

When my friends and I thought of Halo 3 on the 360 we were thinking "Man, that's probably going to have killer graphics and have you doing extreme stuff with crazy weapons!"

As far as I've seen its really looks like incremental improvements over the last version. It's not leaps and bounds better visually or in the appearance of gameplay.

It looks fun but Halo 2 is fun still. I guess I was expecting more from the MS flagship game but maybe it has some surprises in store.

Things I want from the finished version once the spit an polish has been applied.

No ragdoll physics: Very last gen, hope they use some more sophisticated physics for this.

Vehicles: I want the vehicles to leave tire track trails behind in the sand, also the water animation when the vehicles drive through it could do with being brought up to date.

Better Textures: There is a point in the first quarter of the demo when the player ducks behind some of the crates in the housed engine room, they looked awfully muddy and pixelated.

Slightly less lurid colours: The battle worn master chief of the first ever Halo 3 trailer was a very promising visual step forward. Dowsing the game world in more grime and making it look more used would certrainly give this game a bit more of a gritty appeal. I like the Halo signiture visual style but just now it still looks a bit toy like and I am sure bungie could give it an added edge of realism were the levels to be a bit less colourful.

Destructable environments: Ok out of all the things I want this is the least likely to happen but the part when the player is grenading a barrier and it stays put, left a bad taste in my mouth. Let us put holes in the buildings walls, let us cause roofs to tumble on the heads of unsuspecting spartans.

Does look good though and I am sure that at least half of the things I have suggested are already on the cards for the finished version.

Here's hoping, and bungie, if you are listening and it's not too late, please DESTRUCTABLE BUILDINGS pleeeeeeeease.

I'm not saying Halo3 is ugly, just that what we are looking at is probably a good indication of what the final product will look like. If this kind of thinking is true I can't wait to see what Crysis looks like, and thats only at the Alpha stage. Graphics was never really Halo's strongest point. It's just the most solid console shooter to date, with the most played multiplayer of any console game. They're getting it from the fact that this bild of the game is basically a snapshot of the game's development, taken month's ago an turned into a working beta multiplayer test. The reason Bungie would've done this is simple: graphics and content take up a larger portion of dev time than most things, and all they are looking to test here is the multiplayer game itself. How does it play, not how does it look. Adding in all the higher definition conent and window dressings would've meant that this Beta would be released at nearly the same time as the actual game.
You can't compare the development cycles of Crysis and Halo 3. Crysis were clearly more concerned with making a huge visual impact immediately upon it's unveiling, they went full steam ahead producing vast amounts of content to make full use of the engine. Bungie knows what their fans like most about Halo and that's the gameplay. FarCry is not the predecessor to Crysis and thus that game would have nothing to show BUT graphics, as we have no previous experience with a Crysis series of games to base this one on, so they have chosen to garner interest with visuals. It's simple marketing. Halo 3 is garnering interest by allowing people to test the new mulitplayer tweaks and additions themselves, and have no doubt added a touch of graphical flair to keep people salivating for the finished product.

Obviously, we won't know how it looks till it's done, but it's a fair bet to say that MS isn't going to let the game be referred to as "Halo 2.5," anyone saying otherwise is deluding themselves. I first and foremost expect Halo 3 to be a great GAME both online and offline, and merely would LIKE to see unbelievable jaw-dropping GFX. I mean if you read their dev logs they're always talking about all the foliage, grass, water, FX and things they are adding to all the maps contantly. I loved Halo 1 and Halo 2 (though not as much as 1), I'm sure I will love this one too.

I would hope you're right Light of Darkness but as an avid halo 2 player I didn't see anything in 7 minutes that was largely different from Halo 2 in the realm of gameplay. I'm not saying reinvent the game but what did we see that was new to the gameplay.

Those are some really nice points about halo 3, however it is too early to talk about killzone 2. I also think that ps3 is a much better investment than the 360. Dont get me wrong, i think MS has done a great job with it and it has some great titles. But I have a feeling that ps3 will win in the long term run, meaning in about 5 months, ps3 will have some good titles. starting september, i beleive. My guess, the big hits will be Lair and GTA IV, ninja gaiden sigma maybe.

It not about the graphics its about the gameplay. yes xbots love halo but they have a good reason too, it a social game. Personally i think from the overall stance of comments people cannot grasp why Bungie are going through with this Beta test, they completly overlook that part, then go onto sayin its cr*p and sh*t graphics on a product thats not ready, when the test is basically to try out networking, balancing etc, people go straight to the graphics..... im honestly more interested in how they sort out collision detection since in halo 2 you could fire a shotgun in someones face, but if they shot at u first, ur bullets disappear since ur dead so u dont get the kill..... image that in real life.... ive always been a graphics whore, but for multiplayer im more bothered about gameplay... as long as im blown away by the campaign graphics and cinematics... where ill judge the graphics/experience harshly! My overall opinon.....

Pros: Well its Halo =)! More weapons and more maps, whats not to like? Very good Pysx and enviroment.
Cons: Very poor graphics, reminds me of Halo 2. Although realizing that this is not the real build yet I will not judge the whole games graphics as of yet. But does that mean it will be a bad game? Of course not. Bungie knows what they are doing, I'm sorta expecting Killzone 2 to go platinum and Halo 3 coming in as a Trojan Horse or something Graphical Wise. Or then again it could be Vice Versa , but either way I'd still get this game =)
