I Bought Your Game, Let me Play it!

Negative Gamer writes:

Microsoft's money-grabbing antics are starting to irk me and have prompted this rant. It's gotten to the point where I'm expected to pay through the teeth just to be able to play the game to its fullest extent.

i agree with you man
i mean personally im not a fan of the halo series at all its boring at least story wise anyways my friend convinced me to buy it and its real fun to play online

i just hate the fact that i have to buy some of the DLC just to play some of the better game modes online
not being able to play everything i get bored of it kinda fast since i end up playing the same bomb arming thing all the time

sunil5418d ago

You have paid for the game and its online components. You get to play the game and its online components (not all but atleast some).

Expansions are being charged. I dont see the problem here :)

HarukoHex5418d ago (Edited 5418d ago )

Umm >.> seeing how you it would be unfair to the people who actually paid. Cod does that. WoW does it as well. everygame does it now that I think of it. if it has DLC its usually required to play certain game modes. I wonder why. IDK maybe because its something that adds to the game.

*below*

IDK the fact I don't have to use skype to comunicate withsome one, the fact that (on a personal level) I have less lag on my live then i do on PSN, The fact its just so much easier to talk with and communicate with people to make friends as well. to hold custom partys because you can go to your recent players list and just invite people. there are loads of reasons why, the only reason you don't know and insult it is because you don't have a live account. get one actually try it and you will see why so many people pay that bit of money every month.

its the same reason why would someone pay for cable when they get channels threw the air. BECAUSE ITS BETTER.

It's just crazy how anyone supports MS. I just don't get it.

So PS3 gamer gets CoD4: Can play SP and MP online all year round and paid $60 for game.

360 gamer gets CoD4 but has silver service: Still pays the same 60bucks but can only have access to half of the game. To get all game he/she paid for, an additional 50bucks has to be charged (more if they like the game to play it for years)

... WHY DO YOU SUPPORT THIS?! No, I'm serious here. I'd really like to understand the rational behind having a 360 as your primary gaming entertainment console and having silver service.

Blaze9295418d ago

Why is Microsoft the one at question here? Activision does this, hell EA has been doing this for YEARS when they deactivate servers for online games.

AhemZasan5418d ago

Let me lay it out for you from my perspective.

I enjoy video games and I'm willing to pay for whatever experience I wish to enjoy. If the PSN weren't free I'd pay for it too. If I had to pay $50 for every single game I play over XBL I'd probably be a little less inclined to support MS, but $50 a year is not the financial rape that so many people attempt to make it out to be. Good lord, look at WOW's monthly charges for example, and that's just for one single game. Oh yeah, I forgot, the PC is the greatest gaming system of all time so I shouldn't be making such statements. My bad.

It's pretty simple really, if I want it I buy it. I apologize if it irritates you, it's just how I am. That's why I'm willing to spend $60 on some games on day 1, while others would say I'm an idiot because they want to wait a few months for the price to drop.

Rather than hating on business models maybe you should just count your blessings and enjoy gaming the way you choose.

1. Because all my friends are on Xbox

2. All I do is ask for a 1-year supscription every christmas from my family. BAM, problem solved for me.

3. Say what you want about PS3 being better (I have one) but Xbox also has a lot of great features , just like PS3. $50, not the end of the world.

I don't support paying for it, but hell, I don't care so much that it changes my purchase. By purchasing it, we don't support it- we never said we did (well, the fanboys, but not all of us are fanboys, don't stereotype). But we're able to put up with it, because the Xbox is FUN. Saying it sucks is an opinion, nothing more. I have fun with it, that's all that matters to me. I love all 3 consoles, and no angry nerds typing in all caps in an internet forum will change that.

I know everyone is gonna just spam "Disagree", but hey, you asked, I gave my reason without being a fanboy.

--joshua--5418d ago (Edited 5418d ago )

you said you don't support paying for it, i guess because your family pays for it as a chrismas present. If they didn't, would you pay for it yourself? Those statements just seemed odd to me.
I agree $50 isn't the end of the world, it might hurt you at first but say 4 months down the road one wouldn't miss that $50 and then you would still have another 8 months to go. That's how I look at it anyway.

edit: just read your comment a little deeper, and just wanted to add that if I didn't support something, I just wouldn't buy it. Anything. You stated you don't support paying the fee, but you put up with it anyway, because it's FUN. And maybe also because there is no choice in the matter and you don't actually pay for it out of your own pocket. Well that's my view of it. I must respectfully disagree. No spamming involved ;)

danthaman155418d ago

I support what Xbox Live is, I don't support what you must do to access it= pay. But I respect your disagree. At least you're intelligent and don't rush to "Disagree" as soon as you see "Xbox" and "like" in the same sentence.

I don't play that often, but it really sucks when I want to play some Halo, only to find half the fun game types have become unavailable because I don't want to pay even more.

Trebius5418d ago

But I agree they're much more blatant and severe with the way they overcharge...

But to be honest they've been overcharging from the beginning with their crap peripherals...Hard drives, HDMI, battery chargers (wtf), online gaming, so on so forth...

No matter what though people out there will buy and continue to feed this dirty habit. Im one of the few that dont support DLC or hard drives that sell for 150 bucks when they should be just 50.

Karum5418d ago

Genuine question here. why do you mention HDMI in your list? I mean I agree with the rest of it because I think MS are extortionate with some of their accessories but not sure what you're getting at with the inclusion of HDMI. Do they make their own branded cable that is also ridiculously priced?

Golfcoachh5418d ago (Edited 5418d ago )

like the ps3 one I saw at best buy for 100 bucks?
Edit: That was a sony brand PS3 cable, I would never do that I have all the hdmi I need, but it was a reference to the above statement about msoft charging too much for hdmi. Who would spend that much on a cable.

Godmars2905418d ago (Edited 5418d ago )

Is that a specific Sony brand HDMI cable that only works with the PS3, or is it a third party brand that works on anything that needs one?

If so, could I recommend monoprice.com? You can get cables for $5.

The story is non existent.
Online sucks hard
Reused sounds from other games.
etc etc etc
Only sheep would buy that game.

sack_boi5418d ago (Edited 5418d ago )

So... you've played the game right; coz you seem to know a lot about it?

If not, then you're just as retarded as the people that hate on Killzone without even playing it.

nostalgic_noob5418d ago

Infact I bought it at launch and I have the T-shirt,Key chain and Poster it came with to prove it. My Gamertag is Kavkazip check it out for yourself. well After i Beat the game i returned it because the online sucked. Why do i have to wait 30 minutes to join one match. The community for Halo sucks the gameplay is boring and there is nothing good or fun about it. Maybe my Standards are too high because I come from a backround of old school gaming.

HarukoHex5418d ago (Edited 5418d ago )

no wonder you hated halo, XD you sucked at it.
http://www.bungie.net/stats...
less the a 1.0 KD ratio. rofl.

as well you only beat the game on normal man, just because you suck at a game is no reason to hate it. XD how childish.

but heres what i don't get generic games as you say, are usually really easy because they play like other games.why do you think there generic. XD your just falling and falling. man like i said just because you suck at a game is no reason to hate it. XD as well if your loosing to some kids you really suck, ive yet to run into a kid whos even slightly good at halo.

nostalgic_noob5418d ago

Halos Main Game sucked ass so there was no point in going back to play again.

Second the online was sh1ttastic, you got little kids screaming at you from left to right and the gameplay is so generic and boring that you have no motivation in becoming an expert at it. I really wanted to like that game but it failed on every level possible.

AhemZasan5418d ago

Oh my bad, I was too busy being a sheep and actually playing a game to have fun. Were you saying something about a game that you hate on a system that you hate? Maybe something with absolutely zero objectivity? Yeah, I thought so. Now please share some more irrelevant banter in the form of fan-douchery and haterocity.

AhemZasan5418d ago

"Only sheep would buy that game."

"Infact I bought it at launch"

nostalgic_noob5418d ago

I had a Xbox 360 before the PS3, But after my system RRODd on me twice and Microsoft Customer Support was telling me its my fault cause I played Gears of war for 4 hours straight I had enough. I sold my Xbox they sent me and bought A PS3 and I never looked back. The PS3 made me see how bad the 360 really is. Halo is the worst game this Generation and anyone who thinks its remotly good needs to be banned from Gaming cause its those Xbots that are Killing gaming.

AhemZasan5418d ago

You have just proven your objectivity beyond any shadow of a doubt. My apologies for believing in a world where every console has it's purpose. I will now bow before the altar of fanboyism and choose one specific console as the creator of all fun.

And on top of that you have to pay for live. It's like with Battlefield 1943 it has it's own servers (EA ones) yet your gold free goes to Microsoft.

6 out of 15 is pretty limited I must say but then again people buy it I won't I'll guess I'll have to suffer playing Resistance 2, Battlefield Bad Company and Burnout Paradise... what a shame.

ZEEBO4LIFESTFU5418d ago

Microsoft is the only company who does this , oh that's right,it's n4g that thinks that.

mrv3215418d ago

Last I checked Microsoft are the only console makers to charge for online.

A Matter Of Trust: What The Game Industry Should Do To Win Gamers Back

Skewed and Reviewed have written an Opinion Piece covering issues in the gaming industry, how current issues were issues years ago, and what can be done to help restore consumer trust.

anast5d ago

Nothing. It's up to the gamers to stop consuming content from companies that they don't agree with.

Garethvk4d ago

How do you know if you agree with it or not unless you play it? Which without conventions forces gamers to rely on trailers. Perhaps Demos should be made more frequently. But companies need to do better as well.

anast4d ago

Wait until release. Watch Gameplay. Exercise patience.

Garethvk4d ago

But is that not what they have now? Tons of gameplay or are you talking about watching actual gamers play it versus the trailers and streams? The big issue is that some companies pay streamers and influencers and they create content but for me; that is hardly a fair, unbiased, and factual look at a game.

1nsomniac4d ago

Get rid of the suits in the industry and job done!!

Garethvk4d ago

They usually are attached to the money sadly. It would be nice to have gamers in charge but you have so much money invested that business people are needed. Hence the issue; you need people who know business but are also gamers who know have an eye to the community. It sounds simple in theory that if you give gamers quality games that they want to play; money will be made. But that is not always so.
