After translating and subbing the most recent Versus XIII trailer one thing became apparent, Tetsuya Nomura's claim that Versus XIII would be more than you'd expect is holding true.

What I am surprised at is that they are showing some of Versus this soon ,where FFX13 hasn't even been released yet! I am guessing a 3-4 month release date between the two in Japan.

Yes, he starts comparing the female role (Stella) to Rinoa from Final Fantasy 8. It seems like the author is just reaching for something to write about. It's all too speculative for me.

However, if FFv13 turns out anything like FF8, then I'll be a happy camper. More like FF8 and less like FF7, and I'll be totally pleased.

this game looks really good. This will be my second final fantasy game that I ever bought. Not really a fan of RPGs but since this is more action oriented (from what I heard) and a PS3 exclusive, this is a must buy for me.

Hopefully it gets me tied in more with the Final Fantasy universe.

I wouldn't say it's too early to start analyzing. Some people think the guessing game is fun, too. :) Anyway I prefer this translation: http://www.gamespot.com/ps3... Noctis probably asks Stella to call him Noct though. In Japanese he probably asks her to stop using honorifics like san or sama, or use his given name.

I believe both of them have their powers when the game starts, they're just lying to each other. It is however an interesting theory that neither have the power at this point. The CG scene where their powers react to the other's thus revealing them as enemies would support that theory, because that doesn't happen when they meet here.

too soon to speculate but i cant knock the author to wonder what the characters are really all about. I like the dark feel its a branch the square enix never really touched before and is bringing something new to the franchise. With this dark and mature look it will probably make the gaming experience a lil more realistic sense as the characters you play.

No, there is nothing negative in the article. He is just stating that with the translation, some assumptions people were apparently having about the two characters weren't accurate. For example, Stella, the girl, is apparently more like Rinoa from FFVIII rather than Aeris from FFVII (meaning she's not shy and seems more outgoing, unlike Aeris). Also, Noctis, the guy from the trailer, is not the usual introvert character like Cloud and Squall like most people assumed.

It's basically just an article that gives the translation and opinion of it. The gameplay cutscene trailer was basically just a scene to help the future players become intrigued by the coming storyline (since at the moment, it's very unclear).

Kingdom Hearts 2 was going to have a dark theme like this game, but we all know how Disney shot down that idea. That why I am so excited for this game because Kingdom Hearts 1 was my favorite RPG last generation.

Nomura intended KH2 to be much darker and more mature but Disney wouldn't allow it since Disney wants their character to be associated to more kid friendly. FFVs.XIII is probably closer to what Nomura had in mind for KH2 than the final product.

Maybe that's the Kingdom Hearts Team went to develop this instead of Kingdom Hearts 3. Maybe this was supposed to be Kingdom Hearts 2, but they switch characters around, upgraded the visuals, switched items and weapons around as well and slapped "Final Fantasy" on it, lol.

I could be wrong, but I believe the the darker version of Kingdom Hearts that you are all talking about is essentially the PSP Kingdom Hearts title, "Birth By Sleep". The teaser ( http://www.youtube.com/watc... ) shows off a very dark overtone in contrast to the prior titles.

I think FFvsXIII is going to be a very unique title though, unlike probably anything we have seen in a long time.I don't really see it as having much relation to the KH games, though I am aware that the KH team is working on it. I look at this as them branching out and trying something different, the same way Naughty Dog went from Jak and Daxter to Uncharted, or Insomniac from Ratchet and Clank to Resistance. It's a chance to create something new and different. I look forward to this game specifically more than many others, because it looks to breathe new life, and a new different direction into the franchise.

From that one scene this guy has uncovered some interesting things. And a guy that has recently mentioned death gods in his comment I think he is spot on. This game, no this experience of playing vs 13 is going to be incredible. I mean the atmosphere that is set in that trailer just from body language and mannerisms. Phenomenal. This game is going to have a twisted storyline... I can see it.

The idea of having a mature rated final fantasy...Priceless.

At the end of the DKS3713 trailer is the line, “There is nothing either good or bad, but only thinking makes it so.” This is a quote from Shakespeare’s famous play, Hamlet, about Prince Hamlet of Denmark whom exacts revenge on his uncle Claudius for the murder of his father. Square-Enix has admitted to the similarities, but aside from the direct quote, what else links FF Versus XIII to Hamlet?

Company representatives stated that FF Versus XIII is to be the darkest Final Fantasy game yet. That’s perfectly in tone with Hamlet’s themes of madness, treachery, revenge, and melancholy - for which the play was adjudged one of the most influential tragedies in the English language.

In Hamlet, a long-standing feud exists between Denmark, the protagonist’s kingdom, and Norway. In Versus, Noctis Lucis Caelum is the last heir to his kingdom where the last crystal in the world is also kept. Against the increasing modernization of other kingdoms, Lucis’s nation battles with another for possession of the crystal.

Fortinbras, despite meaning “strong armed” in French, has a reputation for being associated with light (no thanks to Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams). Lucis is seen fighting a man dressed in a white robe, who seems to utilize spells of light. This could be the opposing Prince in Versus, but most likely, as in the play when Fortinbras brings hope of peace to the Danish, their meeting in a secluded location indicates he may not be the enemy he seems to be.

The heroine of Versus, Stella Nox Fleuret, also seems at odds with Lucis; like Ophelia, the daughter of Polonius (Claudius’ advisor), was with Hamlet. Though courted by him, Ophelia was asked by Claudius to spy on Hamlet. His love and eventual conflict with her corresponds to the relationship between Stella and Lucis. So much so, that Stella’s allegiances are still unclear.

In Hamlet, Ophelia remarked how Hamlet walked into her room and simply stared at her without speaking a word. In Versus, Lucis is shy and timid when talking to Stella - and tries his best to hide it.

Lucis’ relationship with other characters bears resemblance to the characters in Hamlet. In the trailer, an old bearded man in a business suit is seated at a meeting and his eyes are just like Lucis. The chance of their being related is one speculation; that he plays the part of Claudius, Hamlet’s uncle, is a more automatic one. Lucis’ three companions also correspond to Hamlet having two school friends (Rosencrantz and Guildenstern) and one true friend (Horatio). The former two have orders to spy on Hamlet, who feigns madness to hide his revenge plot. Who the spies of the Versus quartet are, is unknown, but it is apt to mention how the two spying friends were killed in Hamlet.

More than anything, Hamlet dies at the end of the play. Will Lucis suffer the same fate? Hamlet and Ophelia never fought each other with magical runes and multiple weapons, so there’s a fair chance that Tetsuya Nomura, director of the project, has contributed his own share of tweaks. As it stands, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, confirmed only for the Playstation 3, is looking to be an epic, surpassing all Final Fantasy games before it. It seems only right that its story should draw upon a classic like Hamlet.

Final Fantasy Versus will finally have it's new name revealed soon and it's new name will be Kingdom Hearts 3! Noctis and Stella are just 2 new characters within the game. Kingdom Hearts 3 will then, still be Playstation 3 exclusives. Fanboys rejoice!

Honestly the story in crisis core was amazing, the only let down for me was the battle system. I was disappointing. I beat the game just by slashing everything in sight lol. I am hoping this game has the story telling of core but battle system of old times I miss those days. To much action style for me. Magics and summons don't do anything anymore where as before you had to bloody use them lol God i love FFVIII and VI
