Demigod: Day 1 Status Report

Demigod developer Stardock: "The system works pretty well if you have a few thousand people online at once. The system works…less well if there are tens of thousands of people online at once. And if there are over 100,000 people, well, you get horrific results such as the game being incredibly unresponsive due to simple web service calls that were considered pretty benign during the beta that suddenly start to bring down firewalls and such due to the sheer massive number of calls that are being made."

Coupled with the Gamestop fiasco of releasing this game early, I'd be interested to see how this develops. Stardock is pretty much the new Valve on PC as far as quality and product support goes, so I hate to see them get shafted out of their well-deserved money.

cupogoodness5508d ago

Yeah, they've dealt with a bunch of bullshit for this game's launch thus far.

DevilVergilX5507d ago

I bought their game so I am supporting them.

Acidicpack5507d ago

This is why developers don't want to drop games out on the PC anymore ><

This is sad

cupogoodness5507d ago

Actually I found the info on the Stardock forums.

Wow, that's pretty messed up. This is when pirating is taken a bit too far. I honestly feel sorry for Stardock.

I won't lie: when CoD4 first came out, I immediately pirated it for the PC. I had a blast with the single player, yet still felt pretty guilty. As soon as I got a PS3, CoD4 was one of my first game purchases. I made 100% sure to support Infinity Ward. I couldn't allow a great dev team to loose profit from my initial selfishness.

It's no different with this case.
Play the game, love the game, buy the game! SUPPORT THE DEVS!!!

make sure you are buying a new copy and def not at gamestop(bastards)

crazy-eyez-killah5507d ago

skip2mylou5507d ago

That's a lot of RTS games... time I just don't have! Like I need my backlog to get any bigger!

GrapesOfRaf3155d ago

I wonder if we're over the hump now or if this is the next Call of Duty.

darkronin2293543d ago

I still haven't found a MOBA I can get into. Did LoL for awhile, but it was such a slow grind in terms of ranking up and getting money. DOTA 2 just scares me. Infinite Crisis was alright, but I lost interest in it pretty quickly.

Chaoticmoon3543d ago

Why does Dota 2 scare you? Just wondering because imo its a fairly accessible game especially if you get some friends together to play with you. Also if you are just scared of sucking dont be, just have fun and ignore those who flame because if they are flaming then they probably suck too and are just trying to blame you for any of their mistakes. So just download it AND HAVE FUN!

Great article it is nice that someone documented the history of MOBA's.

midnightambler3543d ago

Interesting stuff, especially for a noob like me.

qwerty6763543d ago (Edited 3543d ago )

"From mod to sensation" to over-saturation.

i dont like how all these companys are now trying to make mobas, the markets already been taken by lol and dota.

they should come up with something new instead of just copying.
