DNF will be coming out alongside the game adaptation of the Jimmy Stewart classic, "Harvey."

/obscure reference

Aquanox5503d ago

Can't believe the guy has the guts to keep talking about DNF development stages.

maxcer5503d ago

so.. DNF=Duke Nukem Forever?
or.. DNF=Did Not Finish?

this vaporware seems like a cruel joke by 3D realms

joemayo765503d ago (Edited 5503d ago )

LOL . . . u made my day :)

IdleLeeSiuLung5503d ago

How fitting that the title of the game contains the word 'forever'

CaseyRyback_CPO5503d ago

I smell an awesome live action movie :)

cupogoodness5503d ago

Yeah, there's really no news here at all.

pixelsword5503d ago

it takes them this long to get any version out; but you never know, because it all relies on the talent in the studio, so who knows.

jadenkorri5503d ago

who really is waiting for this game, by the time it comes out, the graphics will be out of date and noone will buy, oh wait, it prob has happened....

@above
a studio, this games not being made in a studio, if they had one it would a been out already...its someones basement....

lsujester5502d ago

What's going to really suck is that the final task that they have is this:

"Start production on the Duke Nukem Forever "game" instead of Duke Nukem Forever "fake screenshots"."

y0haN5502d ago

'Longest game development cycle ever'?

thesummerofgeorge5502d ago

I guess they finally realized "WHEN IT'S DONE" isn't a fan pleaser.... better late than never. Does anyone still care though? Classic example of a company taking their fans for granted.

y0haN5502d ago

I don't really care anymore no, I got DN3D from XBLA and while it was fun, the humor etc really has been surpassed by much better games now.

Has this game been in development? To reach a major milestone, you have to be ableto say that the engine the game is running on should be able to do sh-t no other engine has been able to do. Do they understand that this game cannot be like any other shooter on the planet. This game has soooo much hype and sucha fanbase behind it, they cannot release some half-assed FPS that we saw 2 years ago. Honestly, I think it would've been nice if they did it in 3rd person so you can actually see Duke, but I am expecting good things. Jace Hall played it and he said we should be excited about it, but that was a year ago. This and Alan Wake better be something spectacular or the critics will have a field day

Sangria5503d ago (Edited 5503d ago )

If i remember well, we've seen a first trailer in E3 1998. So around 11-12 years.

thor5503d ago

It's been started again God knows how many times. So this current iteration has probably only been in production for 5-6 years.

Still, "Chinese Democracy" got released so there's hope for this game yet!

TheBand1t5503d ago (Edited 5503d ago )

In the time it has taken DNF to come out, all the Metal Gear Solids, including 1-4, and all their spinoffs, have come out.

Every Gran Turismo game.

Final Fantasy has had 5 more games, not including spinoffs.

Every Fallout game.

Every version of Counter-Strike was developed.

Valve has released Half-Life 1, 2, and all their expansions and countless mods.

The entire Halo trilogy.

The GameCube and Xbox have been announced and discontinued.

Mario has appeared in 58 games.

Sharpshell5503d ago

WOW! I mean I knew it had been a while in numbers (12) but I never thought about it like that! Thats is one epic list, I sent it to my friend who has been tlaking about DNF for.. forever lol. Bubbles for that!

The full list is towards the bottom of this article.

Tarmgar5503d ago

haha bandit. My favorite one is the one where **2** consoles have been announced and DISCONTINUED and this game still isn't out. If you can't finish a game in the lifespan of a console, good god.

Sprinting removed and faster player movement
Jump height increased
Swim speed is much faster
Player can now hold breath underwater for 45 seconds instead of 15
Weapon rebalance and screen shake when shooting removed
2/4 weapon limit completelly removed
Quicksaves (F5 by default)
Depth of Field removed and new post processing effects
Driving sections are now in first person perspective
yw.

Dandizzle597d ago

God damn Megadeth Duke Nukem anthem is the best.

Snookies12597d ago

It is pretty amazing, I remember being so hyped that they covered the Duke theme back when it happened haha. I still quite enjoyed Forever though personally.

Venoxn4g597d ago

It is great, you should check out Eric Calderone - Duke Nukem meets metal .. thats proper as well

"so wrong yet so right"

Only a few will know what Im talking about lol :D

porkChop639d ago

Wow, that advanced lighting makes a huge difference to the visuals. I get that Gearbox tried to slap everything together and release a finished product. But it seems like they cut out a lot of content that would have made the experience more enjoyable. That's a shame.

Number1TailzFan639d ago

Nerfed due to consoles.. and not the first time it has happened.

-Foxtrot639d ago

Kind of amazing the difference a lighting engine makes

Number1TailzFan639d ago

Same, the AI could be pretty dumb but the bosses were fun. I thought the levels (mostly) got better later in the game too.

XiNatsuDragnel639d ago

Devs nerf a game man best quote I've ever heard.
