"GDC 09: Xbox 360 gets nothing new while PS3 gets new MGS and Ratchet game The Game Developers Conference is winding down and all has not been lost as several new games have been announced. The conference for the most part was made up of sessions where developers shared new insight into best practices into game development. Surprisingly Microsoft's camp stayed fairly quiet, while Sony's side was making a bit of ruckus with a tease of a Metal Gear game from Kojima and a new Ratchet & Clank announcement.
I was surprised that Microsoft didn't make much noise during GDC. The Twitter for the Official Xbox Magazine indicated that some cool stuff would be shown day 2 of GDC. However, nothing was really shown during the conference from Microsoft's side. Let me be clear here, just because nothing new was shown at GDC for the Xbox 360 doesn't mean that there isn't anything in the pipeline. I can only assume that the secret good stuff will be saved for E3 later this year. I am looking forward to at least checking out some Alan Wake gameplay. Gamers can now mark their calendars for E3 which takes place in two full months."
Game Rant sits down with developers from Blackbird Interactive to talk about how Homeworld 3 looked to the franchise's main selling points.
Headquartered in Poland, Elsewhere Entertainment — an all-new internal studio at Activision — is working on a new “narrative-based and genre-defining AAA franchise.” Elsewhere includes developers credited on The Last of Us, Uncharted, Destiny, Cyberpunk, and more. Activision’s new studio announcement comes just a week after its parent company, Microsoft, closed three Bethesda studios. It also follows job postings about a new Activision IP.
The game industry confuses, closing down proven studios only open a new studio?
I think this is just a publicity stunt and that this studio never actually produces a game. Someone at Microsoft was like were getting cooked in the media after they closed these studios and they came up with a plan to create some dummy studio someplace outside of the reach of the English speaking presses reach to distract people.
"Oh hey we're not closing studios we're actually creating studios"
And of course what are they working on... the type of game that gets the most popular public perception a narrative driven story based game... ya know not the thing Activision and Microsoft are known for.
GB: "Resident Evil Village is three years old now, and looking back, it’s still a game that fills me with immense joy."
i must have missed something when did they even announce a new metal gear solid game? heck when was it even announced for the ps3?
i did see the ratchet game though
Would love to see a bit more of the Alan wake title. I am really hoping they will give us some news at E3
"I was surprised that Microsoft didn’t make much noise during GDC."

"Gamers can now mark their calendars for E3 which takes place in two full months" ;-P ;-P ;-P Can't wait;)
Hmm...i wonder what Micro$luts will STEAL at E3 2009 tho??? Hmm...holds on to Wallet for dear life...
;-D
guess Ill have to wait until E3 too. I wonder what MS has up their sleeves if much at all. This is the beauty of sony/devs leaking info at times other than shows like gdc, E3 etc. Saves me the frustration of not knowing or 'waiting' as some n4g members used to say.
I dont expect sony or MS to announce a glut of high quality games at e3, both for different reasons but waiting until the year is almost half done before people know what's coming out is a bit of a joke, lets not kid ourselves here.
