It's no shocker to long-time series fans that Namco-Bandai has been releasing Tales of games left and right lately. Five games were released in 2008, with a sixth game that was announced last year just being released.
After sales figures showing Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2, a spin-off, selling more than a main series game, Tales of Hearts, Tales Union looks into how the deluge of Tales of releases might be affecting the series's sales as a whole, and what they can do about it.
Total worldwide shipments for the Tales of series have topped 16 million, Bandai Namco announced.
The Tales of series began in 1995 with the launch of Tales of Phantasia. There have been 17 main entries and the next, Tales of Berseria, is slated to launch for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in Japan next year. If you missed it, watch the latest trailer here. There have also been a number of spin-offs.
16 million sales for 17 games, that's not a lot.
... But if Namco are happy, then keep it up.
Gratz Bamco. If only more people would give "Tales of" series a chance instead of listening to websites that downplay those wonderful games.
I cant wait for Tales of Berseria
Siliconera: While Namco Bandai is giving the Tales series a big push, we missed out on a bunch of games. Speaking with Siliconera, Tales of producer Hideo Baba said Tales of Phantasia was one of the most important games since it started the Tales series.
Siliconera: Namco Bandai hasn’t forgotten about Tales of Hearts. In fact, they took an extra step to protect the title in North America by filing a second trademark for Tales of Hearts on February 17, 2012.
I think it was found that the same thing also applies with Final Fantasy games too.
And PSP still kills it, nintendo needs to quit the gaming business and go third party already they are failing miserably..
wow
And what a wonderful tale of sales it was.
Still waiting for Tales to come to Ps3 come Namco you can do it.
