Bandai Namco Will Refocus Game Development on Quality Following Declining Financial Results

Bandai Namco announced its financial results for the third quarter of the fiscal year, related to the period between October and December 2023.

To be fair, they the only ones. Square and other Japanese devs been lacking is quality for a long time and they made up for it in good games.

I've never had a quality issue with BandaiNamco. I have a backlog issue with them.

They didn't have a release as significant as Elden Ring in 2023 so it's no surprise their financials were not as good as the year prior.

I am glad they are refocusing on quality because I can't tell the difference between the new Naruto game and the one prior. What next gen features were added? They should have given it the same treatment as the Dragon ball games.

they can start with some VR2 support. Id love to play point blank, time crisis and other light gun shooters in VR2. They have a whole slate of quality right there they could release.

Correct. Ace Combat 7 should have had full mode on PS VR 2. A Time Crisis game in VR could have been great too. A new Ridge Racer flat and VR support.

They have the skills to bring many quality games to platforms. They just aren't doing it.

I’d say most of their fighting games and then how they continually give us Naruto. Like, I’m actually a fan of the Cyber Connect game, but when I saw it’s basically the same game I’ve been playing I passed it up. But if you want a recent game to look at check out Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash.

There are the Tekken and FromSoft games that stand out, but I’d say a majority of their games feel half-assed.

I did like tales of arise but the was the only game I've quite liked from them for a long time. Although Arise was a tad disappointing for me as well. The fromsoft games I don't know if you could count though lol. Bandai to me has always just been that generic company for a long time, the Ubisoft of Japan maybe? Welp, hope this means they'll do AAA games with more heart to them.

Yep. I don’t get why people aren’t taking advantage of the popularity of anime with high quality anime games. Granblue is one of the best ones so far but there should be so much more.

Who who have thought that releasing countless copy and pasted low effort anime fighting games wouldn't make bank. Hopefully they put more effort into future licensed fighting game projects like they do with their Tekken IP.
