The First PlayStation Portal Unboxings And Impressions Are Arriving
The PlayStation Portal, Sony’s new dedicated device geared at PS5 remote play at home or anywhere there’s a Wi-Fi connection, is out in select regions as early as next week and we’re now starting to get the first glimpses of the Portal in the wild thanks to early review units.
The PlayStation Portal has been "exceeding supply for several months" in the US and doing better than it ever was expected to.
I'm laying on my bed with Eve on my Portal and my skama in tha air. 😶🌫️ Chilln. I have been playing it on my big tv though just cause I like to play the main story on there. I do side quests and collecting on my Portal.
Seems like industry advisors and analyst constantly underestimate or straight up talk from their back side
Between the Portal, PSVR2, Edge controller, Pulse headsets, and potentially PS5 Pro Sony customers are going to have a lot of hardware purchase choices this holiday
Want to snag the PlayStation Portal Remote Player? It's finally available at multiple retailers right now.
After a few months with the PlayStation Portal, Digital Trends Giovanni Colantonio is starting to see how the streaming handheld fits into our gaming lives.
I slipped a disc in my back a short while ago and I could barely move for 2 weeks. A spent a near fortnite on my back and the Portal was a god send
I was thinking about getting the Portal but my Logitech G-Cloud remote plays my PS5 games, Series X, retro games fine so will stick with that for now. Good to see the Portal doing well.
So I will be paying close attention attention to reviews but there are two reasons I want this. First I am always gonna prefer a controller over a backbone and... I know I. Not the only one getting older here and I need a large screen like this. My phone screen isn't gonna cut it for me.
Don’t understand the backlash over the Portal.
You are not going to get a Vita 2 from Sony. They’ve been there and done that, and it makes little sense to split limited development resources making cut down games for a separate platform. It made sense back in the PSP days when developer budgets and game expectations were reasonable, but not today when the public expects first party titles to be big budget affairs. Times and lofty expectations have increased too much, and today’s gamers are unwilling to spend more than 1996 level prices for individual games.
The Portal seems like a fantastic dedicated device to play your system remotely with 100% integration and perfect controls. No added Bluetooth lag from wireless controllers, no tiny screen, and no added overhead from translating the experience to a separate non-dedicated device.
The great thing about this is that it is completely optional for the player. No one is forcing you to buy it, and you’re not missing out on a different library of games if you don’t. Additionally, this is a relatively small investment from Sony, so they’re not splitting their assets trying to support two distinct game platforms at once. Win-win for both Sony and the players that this appeals to.
This is enticing but I'm gonna hold out for the inevitable OLED version.
6 more days I’ll have mine
It arrives next week, but I can't have mine until Christmas
