The Only Remake We Need Is L.A. Noire

From TheGamer: "Doesn’t it seem like they only remake the games that don’t need remakes? You can play the new Dead Space or The Last of Us, or you can just play the originals, because they’re still great games. We don’t need remakes of games that hold up, we need remakes of games that didn’t live up to their potential, even when the original came out. I’d much rather play a remake of Mirror’s Edge Catalyst or The Quiet Man than Resident Evil 4. Resident Evil 4 doesn’t need a second chance, but a lot of other games do."

Enough of 7th gen game remake wish listing. These games are still serviceable and 'modern'.
And even most 7th gen games are available on 9th gen systems via BC.
Remake older games please. From PS1 and PS2 era and even older if possible.
Like Legend of the Dragoon, Blood Omen, Legacy of Kain, Red Alert 2, Silent Hill 2, Chrono Cross, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale, MGS, Unreal, UT, Deus Ex, RTCW, Saints Row ... to name a few to begin with.
(some games mentioned above might have had some re-releases/remastering done but I am ignoring that including those for full-on Remakes. Kind of similar to FF7 & RE 4 ports and Remakes)

RaidenBlack686d ago (Edited 686d ago )

Already released Perfect Remake choices are : Resident Evil 2&3, FF7R, Mafia, Yakuza Kiwami, Link’s Awakening, Shadow Of The Colossus, Pro Skater 1 + 2, Black Mesa, Ratchet & Clank, Spyro Reignited.
And the upcoming ones are : System Shock, Max Payne duo, KOTOR, Splinter Cell etc ...

Orchard686d ago

Yes to every game you just listed. Konami should follow in Capcom's footsteps and do a high quality remake of SH 1 through 3.

porkChop686d ago

A game shouldn't be remade unless a remake can really build on and improve the original in ways that weren't originally possible. In terms of how mechanics are implemented, and even what mechanics are possible, there's been huge improvements since PS1/PS2. Those gens are ripe for remakes.

It's too early to remake anything from PS3 and forward. At this point all we'd get are tighter controls and prettier visuals, nothing that really transforms the experience.

Gardenia686d ago

Totally agree. A remake of Soul Reaver, Driver, Timesplitters, Syphon Filter 2, Vagrant Story to name a few. So many quality games back then.

TO be fair, LA Noire on PC is still locked to 30FPS and performance still isn't great, it was a poor port. A nice remake or even sequel (wishful thinking) would be welcome.

I absolutely loved L.A. Noire! Only played it once though, and never was interested on going back.

I could careless if they did a complete remake to the game. But I would recommend it to anybody who’s not played it, fantastic experience (while not a masterpiece as some were expecting) still so thrilling and interesting and fun to play.

VivaChe686d ago

I love LA Noire. But if you've already played it, there isn't a whole lot of upside to re-playing it, since it's a mystery so a huge part of the game would be nullified in a second play through. I would love a sequel, though.

Orchard686d ago

How about a sequel instead of a remake? The original still holds up well enough in the gen 8 remaster.

L.A. Noire And Bully — Rockstar's Lost Gems That Deserve A Sequel As Much As GTA

Hanzala from eXputer: "I do appreciate GTA 6, Rockstar, but if I could trade it for a new L.A. Noire or a Bully game, I'd do so in a heartbeat."

How are they lost? You can get L.A. Noire on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch and Bully is on the PS5 and Xbox Series too.

Psychonaut8537d ago

I want a new Manhunt game. But that will never happen.

Demetrius37d ago

Mfs are too sensitive nowadays and would cry instead of being concerned bout real world problems

Demetrius37d ago

Whenever gta 6 launch we won't be getting another rockstar title for another 10 years lol but on the positive side they bou to come back n show how open world supposed to be done 🔥

Skuletor37d ago

I won't expect any singleplayer DLC like IV's The Lost & Damned or The Ballad of Gay Tony after it launches either

12 Years Later, L.A. Noire is Still an Excellent Experience

There was a lot to love about Rockstar and Team Bondi's 2011 open world title.

One I never finished. I've been looking at the ps4 version off Amazon the last few months just never bit

Knightofelemia142d ago

It's worth playing LA Noire is one of my favorite Rockstar games. But I would also check out pawnshops or thrift stores if you want the game dirt cheap. Someone may have been dumb enough to dump the game.

Baffles me when people have these opinions about acclaimed games 😂

RhinoGamer88143d ago

100% agree... not perfect, but an engaging/refreshing experience.

sagapo142d ago

Agree, at time of release those facial expressions were amazing! They still hold strong even today imo.
The game on its own was good. Something fresh, but sidequests were a bit meh after a while.

Nacho_Z142d ago

I picked it up on sale recently, going to play it next summer. I'll get more out of it this time, first time around I treated the open world like it was GTA and goofed about, whereas now I'll play it with more respect. RDR2 has trained me well.

I also hadn't read Raymond Chandler at the time so presumably that'll add another layer of enjoyment too.

1nsomniac142d ago (Edited 142d ago )

Absolutely stunning game. So underrated. Played through it again last year and it still stands up so well. Like many of rockstars games it’s actually a far better experience on PC. I didn’t enjoy it as much on console. Completed it at least 3 times on pc.

The rumours of a sequel are awesome news despite the fact I think Rockstar are now the shell of the company they once were.

SyntheticForm142d ago

Team Bondi made a hell of a game.
