LBP deserves this award. I can't say the same about any other game I played this year. Not even the masterful MGS4.

I can agree with LBP as GOTY as it was truly an innovative game and changed the way you could simply play games. I would definitely have put Gears 2 before GTAIV; it was such a let down(GTAIV). But how was Metal Gear not considered? The story was epic and captivating. It really brought you into the game/experience and connected the gamer to the characters. Perhaps the journalist or reviewers did not enjoy as much as I did but that was just some food for thought. Resistance is pretty good as well.

... such a gorgeous city, such great controls, such fantastic characters and a mature story, such good voice-acting and a huge and fun soundtrack, and such an immersive world.

Yeah, it isnt as 'fun' as some other sandbox games, but it doesnt have to be. GTA4 isnt trying to do that. It offers a different kind of experience in the sandbox-genre, a new one, and it does a great job at it. Amazing achievement.

LBP is a close 2nd for me. I love it a whole lot, but it's slightly let down by some small issues, like the floaty control of Sackboy with difficult jumps, the too short story-mode, and some other small stuff ...
Great great game though, and an instant classic.

wheres all the xbox 360 exclusive games in this list. most of these games that got the #1 post were mostly ps3 or multi-platform games maybe 1 or 2 360 exclusive. comes to show you not everything is sale base for greatness i guess

Pretty good list. But I really wish they'd put Prince Of Persia into the top 3 design of the year. I mean, LBP made it into 5 of the categories. 4 of which were 1st place... Would it kill them to put Prince of Persia in there, or did they rush the list and finish it before PoP was even released? And WTF is up with Braid? I know it's a pretty kewl game, but I don't think it deserves a place in the top 3 games of the year. Why not make a list of XBLA or downloadable games of the year instead..?

Otherwise, a pretty decent round up of the best 2008 has had to offer us hungry gamers.

Only one of them has been played the most and that would be LBP. I could not agree more with this sites view of GOTY. Kudos to MM for a great experience that my whole family is enjoying.
