Control Will Run At 1440p/30 With Ray-Tracing On PS5/XSX, Supports DualSense Features

Remedy's Control will be launch as part of the Ultimate Edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X in addition to Series S. Here are the details on this release.

1440/60 for performance mode is nice. 1220p sounds really odd for quality mode. 1440/30 I can understand but 1220?

To be honest, I'm more interested in that DualSense goodness. This game would benefit greatly from more tactile feedback, I feel, what with the combination of shooting and telekinesis.

I’ll be sticking with 1440p/60. No way I’m going back to 30fps. Even 60fps games feel a bit sluggish after playing Cold War at 120fps for so long.

It's because there are certain areas of that game where the raytracing can tank framerates, and because AMD's RT solution isn't as good as NVIDIA's offering, also no DLSS yet, so weird resolution for consistency it is lol.

I already beat it and all the DLC but I will try it out on the PS5 to see how good the ray tracing is and to experience the Dualsense implementation.

Control is an extremely well-optimised game on PC, and the most well-optimised ray traced game on the market currently. If he has a 2070 I'd believe him if he said he could play it at 60fps with ray tracing and DLSS on a lot or some of the time. I get 80+ fps with ray tracing and DLSS with a 3070.

I've tried ray-tracing on PC, it's not worth it. The game looked slightly different, but nothing felt massively improved at all. Nothing made me think "wow what an improvement". Not worth playing at 30fps because of it.

It's very resource intensive. Physics & particle effects are top notch and the game is filled with reflective surfaces everywhere.

Ryzen 7 3700X and RTX 2070 Super on my PC - 1220p30 seems pretty fair for these consoles without anything like DLSS.

DLSS 2.0 is the golden advantage for PC with this game. It looks better than native if anything because the anti aliasing works so well!

I know high settings, high ray tracing, DLSS 'quality' enabled and you're looking at 60 creamy frames per second.

Without it's more like 35.

Started this with TUF 3080, sold it due to coil whine, and bought gaming x trio 3070 to finish it, including both DLCs. Less coil whine, but still very audible, so I put a serious undervolt in place at 775v. Ran it at 4K DLSS all ultra and rendering at 1080p. Ran mostly above 60, sometimes dropped to 45 at worst, typical drops to low/mid 50s, but nothing that hindered the experience really. Decent game, too simple upgrade system, and very forgettable audio experience except for the cutscenes and one specific scene.

That's some heavy cut for ray tracing and exactly why DLSS on Nvidia GPUs is so critical with ray tracing enabled.

Here you are halving framerate AND reducing resolution. If we assume 2176 x 1224 as the closest native 16:9 resolution. That is only about 2/3 the resolution of 2560 x 1440.

Ray tracing more than halves the performance in other words. Considerably more than halves.

I'm also concerned about the framerate. 'Targets XXFPS'. Targets? Don't you mean 'locked? Not exactly giving me confidence about a solid framerate!

This game does not have the best history on consoles. https://www.youtube.com/wat... It suffered hugely in terms of poor performance especially on the base last gen systems. Digital Foundry found it was a real struggle on every machine except the One X.

The ray tracing on it is very complex and looks beautiful, but the hit is so vast even on these new consoles then we'll have to see how it actually looks and runs.

the destruction part is interesting, i would prefer the weapons doing that damage rather then her using force powers, another generic character choice, movement seems janky, outside of some destruction this game has generic written all over it, but well see

Not surprised to be honest, Its a game that's optimized for Nvidia cards. Even then the performance tanks when you switch ray tracing on. DLSS saves the day.

LOL 30fps. Played the game on PC, did not like it too much, uninstalled it. Running on my 3070 all settings ultra @ 1080p with ray tracing on, over 100fps. Now why don't they just target 1080p on PS5 and increase the fps with all settings on? I'm sure it can go above 30fps, even 60fps on the console would be better, me I can't go below 100 really, even sometimes 80fps bothers me.

Well honestly it’s more having to start all the way over, I spent a ton of time on my character and did almost all of the quests. They should atleast allow save imports... I’ll download it it’s a shame that I won’t do anything with it other than eventually check out the next gen upgrade.

Yah great deals for the services this feb, this is the way to play control ue if you don’t want to support 505s terrible next gen scheme. (If you haven’t played it before). Some of the side quests are really cool and the story and themes are really well told with a lot of depth to the story keeps you thinking. In the dlc the swift cart quest was one of my favorites.

Na it won’t hold it back one bit. Once devs better utilize the series s it will start to perform much better. Especially once amd releases their version of dlls super resolution on consoles. From the looks of hitman 3 super resolution will help the ps5 as well.

Really dont understand the fuss with 60, i barely norice the difference and when i switch modes just to ask my casual gamer freinds they just reply bro what are u talking about it looks the same.

I mean if devs can do it great if not a locked 30 is fine with me or this case give gamers the option for fidelity or oetformance which is what they did, win win for every one.

I always select fidelity mode cause like i said i cant see the difference but thats just me.

Control is a good looking game with RT and has nice damage. It isn't really doing much else. No draw distance, nothing major going on. I did enjoy it.

It's the RT on the PS5 and series x that would be taking the power, DLSS is needed for PC RTX mode @4k.
