It's Time for a Metal Gear Solid Collection

I would happily pay for a collection of these games. And I mean HAPPILY. I miss these game so much. Wish they were easy to play on PS5...all in one spot...all in one collection. I have a friend that has never played them. Would be a blast to run through them together.

Read my mind. I was just thinking about the MGS franchise and how we need a complete collection of all the games in one package.

Also I would love a MGS1 remake for next gen consoles. Why hasn't this been made already?

Only one I want re-released is MGS4 since I haven't played it. The rest..meh its already been released as a collection. Make a new game.

MGS4 was part of a collection, unless you didn't get the PS3 exclusive collection that also included it.

It's definitely recommended if you want a game that ties up the plot points of the first three MGS games though. On the other hand, my main criticism is it's one of few games that really doesn't rest on its own merits. Like, you have to have at least played MGS1-3 to get what's going on in it whereas even a newcomer could hop into any of the previous games and not feel lost. But, if you've played all those games that shouldn't be an issue for you.

In response to your other comment, ah, yeah that makes sense then. MGS4 was only possible on the PS3 at the time, hence why it never got ported to other systems. There was the regular collection on PS3, 360 and Vita, but then there was one other one released later exclusively on the PS3 that was basically that plus MGS4 in a nice case with a slipcover (I'm not actually sure what that type of case is called, it's not a steelbook).

When I got it I was wondering why there wasn't a similar collection coming to the 360 that just doesn't have MGS4, then when I opened it I realized that's what the regular collection is. There's a disc containing MGS4, and the disc that contains the other games is actually the disc you would get in the other collection.

I agree that these games need to be re-released in some capacity. Konami can release nice collections when they try as they've managed to do with their 8 and 16 bit titles. At this point Capcom has run laps around them many times over. I'd just like to see Konami try in some capacity, whether it's with their old games, or developing new ones, but it's like they just don't care anymore.

MGS is my favorite game series of all time. I've bought multiple copies of almost every game in the series.
I'm currently doing my 14th playthrough of MGS 1 right now actually, and its just as fun as it was during my 1st playthrough back in 1998!

Being an old gamer, I have all my classic consoles hooked up to CRT TVs, the best way to play the earlier Metal Gear titles, but I know that's not something everyone is willing to do. I would love to see the entire franchise get ported to PS5 / Xbox Series X / Switch. There's a lot of money to be made here, but of course Konami doesn't care. :/
