Capcom Announces Resident Evil Village and Pragmata for Xbox Series X - Xbox Wire

Capcom has been on quite a roll over the last few years, particularly with its critically acclaimed Resident Evil series. By updating classic titles like Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 for the modern era, Capcom gave old fans a great reason to dive back in while welcoming new fans with two of the best remakes of the generation. Today, they announced that they’ll be jumping back into the Resident Evil pool, this time with a brand-new title built for Xbox Series X. What’s more, they also teased their first brand-new IP in four years: an action-adventure game called Pragmata.

Nice, plus a new IP coming to next gen.

solideagle1431d ago

When I was watching Pragmata, I thought that's Big Daddy and little sister as I just finished Bioshock: Collection on PS4 :)

Sayai jin1430d ago

I wish the would make a true bioshock remake for next gen.

ElementX1432d ago (Edited 1432d ago )

I'm looking forward to it

xX-oldboy-Xx1431d ago

They announced it for xbox 2 days ago at the PS5 event. Much like every 3rd party game revealed at the ms 'gameplay' event will be on PS5.

See what ms double-speak does - it confuses their consumers.

StarLink1431d ago

That drivel are you talking about? Double speak? That same day of the event MS was quick to say which of those games shown on the event were coming to Xbox.

hulk_bash19871431d ago

Capcom has been a multiplatform developer for so long its pretty much a given.

Imortus_san1430d ago

Deep Down you know that's not true.

rdgneoz31430d ago

@Imortus Deep Down, we'll believe it when we see it...

hulk_bash19871430d ago

Haha Deep Down was a pipedream. Vaporware that never saw the light of day.

NeoGamer2321431d ago

If you look at the article date, you will notice it is in fact from two days ago.

Not really sure how posting the press announcement the same day as Capcom announced it is double-speak or confusing.

SLiSH831431d ago

Oh no a 3rd party developer announces a game.......for both consoles and not just the reverse Oreo router 5000

1Victor1431d ago

Oh look a under the fridge troll that think he’s funny

Kiwi661431d ago

Why does it bother you when there is some positive xbox related news, its almost like you only want this site to have ps news only

xX-oldboy-Xx1431d ago

Its not even news - it was known the moment it was shown at the PS5 event.

Neither of them gave any illusion of being PS5 exclusive.

I didn't read the article, nor the date it was originally posted.

Surely I'm not the first to do that.

I should apologise, xbox fans need anything to be excited about.

itsmebryan1431d ago

Only confusion comes from Sony not being clear on which games they showed were exclusive. Now you see most of the games they showed were multi platform.

xX-oldboy-Xx1431d ago

I thought they were very clear about which games were PlayStation exclusive.

They had that PlayStation Studios logo before the trailer.

Pretty much ANY 3rd party title will be going to PC, xbox or both.

SCW19821431d ago

Sorry but most of the games they showed actually aren’t multi platform.

rainslacker1430d ago (Edited 1430d ago )

I thought it was pretty safe to assume that any game they didn't specifically say was exclusive, and not published by them, was probably multi-plat. That's what I do with Xbox titles when they do the same thing.

Kiwi661431d ago

It may not be news to you but it is for xbox gamers or those who didn't know

xX-oldboy-Xx1431d ago

Fair enough - but its quite easy to put 2 and 2 together, a little tip going forward for the slow ones at the back.

PRAGMATA - June 2023 Trailer

Watch the trailer for Pragmata, shown during Capcom Showcase in June 2023.

sparky77337d ago

Wow delayed in definitely seems like Deep Down 2.0, I wonder if it's because Sony cut funds again.

Seems like there is a trend of games being announced at Sony presentations then disappearing like Abandoned, Deep Down, that GaaS game with all the layoff, KOTOR and the old favourite Agent.

VersusDMC337d ago

It's coming out on Xbox so why would Sony be giving them money to make it?
Do we blame Microsoft if exoprimal and path of the goddess are shit because they are on gamepass?

Nice try trying to build up towards your conspiracy again.

Good job looking foolish once again.

KwietStorm_BLM337d ago

I thought it was a PlayStation exclusive, so whatever I guess

Yui_Suzumiya336d ago

He mentioned that because it premiered 3 years ago at the Playstation 5 reveal event and nothing has been shown since.

Chevalier337d ago (Edited 337d ago )

"When it does arrive, Pragmata will come to PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X."

Yeah its Playstations fault?! Lol. I know it's really hard to type, read and find things like this article here. Oh wait it took 2 seconds to prove your idiocy wrong.

Sparky not too bright.

blackblades337d ago

Sparky has blown a fuse here folks.

justsomeoffdude336d ago

good lord the level of delusion in this statement is ridiculous.. there are people that think capcom actually requires funding from sony to make a game???

ebotj337d ago

This trailer did show the first bits of game play that I've seen thus far, Which I thought looked pretty cool! I think it's going to be a very unique game when it does finally release. I'm digging the vibe!

blackblades337d ago (Edited 337d ago )

Yeah, it looked interesting like a vanquish type without the spd boost but with a kid sidekick with powers. I'll say its not your typical shooter which I'm down with those generic military shooter got old long time ago. To bad it got delayed but they know they need more work on it for a better quality and experience unlike other games we know of.

RaidenBlack337d ago

Was not expecting any Pragmata news ... but glad we got glimpses of gameplay

Flawlessmic337d ago

So glad this game is still alive!!

I thought it was vapourware for sure, thank you capcom for showing me this!!

FallenAngel1984419d ago

We’re gonna get Deep Down anyday now 😂

SullysCigar419d ago (Edited 419d ago )

Sony's gonna shadow drop Agent at the next State of Play, I betcha! /S

bloop419d ago

What was the game shown a few years ago with the knight fighting the dragon in the ruins?? What the hell happened to that game??

SullysCigar419d ago

^ I think that was Deep Down, @bloop.

That's if you mean the one with the knight walking down the corridor and then having to shield himself from (as I recall) amazing dragon flames! They also showed some abilities like freezing time, I think. It was quite Demon's Souls, looking back on it.

bloop419d ago (Edited 419d ago )

I'm familiar with Deep Down but this was another game. It looked like a single player action game playing as a knight in silver armour making his way through the ruins of a castle. The demo ended with this crazy fight with a dragon outside in a large opening. It looked incredible but haven't heard anything about it since.

Edit: I just found it; Project Awakening.

rlow1419d ago

The question I always had about Deep Down, was it a game or a tech demo? But if the game exists then it will be very exciting if they do end up announcing something on it.

darthv72419d ago

Capcom already paid that debt off with SFV.

DVAcme419d ago

Deep Down was never released, but look at the old demos and the movement and camera work. The engine used in Deep Down is what eventually became the REngine. You can see the similarities between it and REmake 2, 3 and 4. So while Deep Down was never released, it wasn't wasted work, since it gave us an excellent game engine Capcom's using to make fantastic games.

Christopher419d ago (Edited 419d ago )

Everybody forgot about Agent. It's just hanging out there in the limbo-ist of limbos.

P_Bomb419d ago

I was just about to say Agent, LOL!

Bathyj419d ago

I don't really care about any of those. Where's Little Devil inside?

NecrumOddBoy419d ago

Yeah, the game should’ have never gotten a two-year delay just because some people are a little butt hurt over the tribal enemies.

It looks both charming and adventurous so I hope it’s not in dev hell.

Bathyj419d ago

This world has gotten ridiculous. Why do we listen to the dumbest people?

KeeseToast419d ago

Do you have any source on that? The game was first announced ans funded as a Kickstarter as early as 2015 and has been stuck in development hell ever since. From searching the web I found no indication at all that the most recent delay has anything to do with them replacing the tribal enemies.

BrainSyphoned419d ago

https://www.kotaku.com.au/2...

Here is your delay Keese. Redesigning all the enemies and zones they resided in to be.....whatever is safe to be an enemy these days.

KeeseToast419d ago

@Brain
LOL as if changing one type of enemy design is the cause for a 2 year delay. Thanks @all for the disagrees people here have no idea how game development works but are happy to jump on any opportunity to call out the „woke agenda“

Terry_B419d ago

Did not even know about any of them ^^ But where is hellblade II?

Terry_B419d ago

Lol..guess the devs read my comment ;)

But seriously, I hope the game will be good actually and we see some gameplay.

ModsDoBetter419d ago

Deep Down please. 😂
One day, I’m holding out hope.
Hard to think that it’s been 10 years since it was announced.

Last update was Shawn Layden saying in 2021 that it may be picked up by someone else within Capcom following Ono’s departure.

senorfartcushion419d ago (Edited 419d ago )

We’ve had 17 thousand Dark Souls clones come out. We’ve had more Deep Down than a pornstar on coke.

TheLigX419d ago

Basically every Microsoft game.
