Halo 3 multiplayer "really Quake 3 from 1999", console 'depth' MIA

Splash Damage founder Paul Wedgwood has reiterated the PS3 is "more of a challenge" to develop on, compared to the "easier" 360.

He points out in his interview with Edge Online that console gamers crave the greater depth PC games offer. Consoles could be deep "but it isn't there", mainly as PC called it first.

While the article is mostly about console gaming in general, the title of the article is based off of one quote by the guy being interviewed. He also says CoD4 is CounterStrike, but I guess they figured the Halo one would get them more hits. I hope the guy doesn't get flamed for that one quote, though, as he seems like he knows what he's talking about.

Though I disagree with the statements about Halo and Call of Duty 4, I agree that PC games are "more deep" because they are easier to mod and manipulate. I also like his view that console gamers are just as smart as PC gamers.

It also makes sense that they use the PS3 as lead if it is the most challenging, because for multiplatform games it is most likely easier to go from a more challenging platform(PS3) to a less challenging one(360). It makes sense.

no im not a halo fanboy, sold it along time ago, and dont even currently have a 360. But halo 3 and quake 3 arnt that similar at all. Halo 3 has a 2 weapon limit. Halo 3 has recharging health. halo 3 has vehicles. Halo 3 has grenades. Halo 3 is a console shooter, and quake is made for PC. Trust me, I had the dc version, it wasnt made for consoles. If I remember correctly quake 3 was mostly about DM, and team areana was more of a team game like halo(unless your doing straight DM).

I think there both good games but saying halo 3 is like quake 3 is obviously a comment made by a person who doesnt know crap about FPS. Saying halo 3 and quake 3 are the same is like saying goldeneye and duke neukem are the same just because you shoot stuff.

lmfao. all pc games have more depth. why. because you can mod them. but without the mods they are no different so you cant really compair the games on a fair basis. why. you mod your xbox or ps3 and you get banned. mod your pc. theres usually hundred if not thousands of servers there to use. even day of defeat has a sh*t load of servers

But he is right in that so many of it's features have been done before. While halo has been the first to do so many things on the console. It's been there for a while on the PC. Recording has been done, map editors or garry's mod are better than forge. Dual wielding has been done don't know about boarding but it's also been done.

However the guy who said that is missing the point, the thing about Halo is that it combines so many aspects together seamlessly. And boarding in Halo 3 is uber cool. Now I just wan't boarding in crysis...

you know when you can tell a game is the best. when sites and fanboys compare a game that came out a year ago. and everyone still compares every FPS to it. i mean really. if you really don't like halo. why keep mentioning it to every FPS that comes out. do they compare every FPS to Quake,RFOM,R2,UT1-3,ect? no they don't. it's always about halo. i starting to think that these fanboys and sites are so quick to bash halo. care more about it than the actual people that play it and love it.

I feel this is totally unfair to consoles. In PC gaming you can own your own server, set rules and mod it however you want. Game devs themselves give you tool sets to mod their game engine however you like. And you actually have a proper OS on a preatty much open system to write whatever code you want. On top of that you have a tens of millions strong international comunity constantly exposing anything about everything game related, from game cracks to overclocking your cpu-gpu. I know most people think console gaming and PC gaming are on equal footing, or think consoles are now more like PC's then consoles, but PC's and consoles are two totally difrent animals that happen to live in the same jungle. Gaming PC's aren't just consoles that you can upgrade.
