Twinfinite writes "E3 2019 wasn't the best of years for the long-running tradeshow, which was compounded by several high profile no-shows that we're still disappointed about."
They don't make games like this anymore.
Too dated in my book. The AI is way too unpredictable to be acceptable today. It's definitely a game of its time.
I had a good time with the game. It is a product of its time. But when it came out it was a must have game for a lot of people. I wish Ubisoft would make another game in the series or at least a reboot.
Due to the lack of modern stealth games, and me constantly playing the MGS series, I've been looking for alternative stealth games to play, and went back and re-played the SC series recently. I wouldn't call SC1 or SC:PT masterpieces, there are AI issues, they're very much trial-and-error games, and that can lead to a lot of frustration. I also found the stories in this series to be boring, uninteresting, and just sloppily told. Cinematics are also of poor quality for both in-game scenes and CG cut-scenes, the soundtrack didn't leave any impression on me either.
Chaos Theory is better, but there was still a lot of room for improvement, and Double Agent (old gen ver.) was a sloppy mess that ended up a regression from CT. But still, at least they tried back then, these days Ubi-junk doesn't even try to make good games!
Other nominees include games like SimCity & Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
There are some good nominees in this list that are deserving to be inducted also, but I feel Metroid has had the most impact on the industry out of all of these. Look how Metroid influenced the evolution of the Castlevania games, and the "Metroidvania" subgenre of games have become a prevailing force in gaming today. Especially now, Metroidvanias are bigger than ever.
I can very much see Resident Evil being added later too, bc it really did popularize and define the survival horror genre. I would say that one is next in line.
If any Metroid game should get the honor it should be Super Metroid , it's perfection in my eyes . 30 years later and I still feel it's the most epic shit ever .
The GBA remake deserves it or Super Metroid, the original was a very sloppy and rushed game programmed in 3 months and it shows.
If you've never played the remake, it's absolutely a must play, fixes basically every flaw in the game. Check out ExoParadigmGamer's comparison video.
Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Mirage appears to be adopting a key Splinter Cell mechanic, which is great news for the characterization of Basim on PS5 and Xbox.
Apart from Nintendo’s showing, E3 was pretty mediocre imho.
Oh jesus the Last Night, I completely forgot that game existed lol. Though that's the fate of indie exclusive Xbox games this gen they either are forgotten about entirely or are released to very little fanfare.
On a side note glad to see you guys are sticking to one page articles.
WiLD has been a no-show so long it didn't even make it on a list of no-shows lol. The hell that game must be going through for an indie title to have just gone MIA for so long.
Its not that we can't get over its people that get these rumors going I thought there was going to be more games shown from Microsoft I was hoping for a new Conker or Banjo game not to mention a Perfect Dark game being announced.
Wish Ubisoft ended the show with Splinter Cell and have a nod to MGS with a "Kept you waiting huh"
