Bethesda has announced that The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is currently available for free on its launcher. This free offer will only last for one day and once you acquire your free copy, you will be able to keep your game in your library forever.

Only played Skyrim, is this any good? :/

When you start skyrim you feel like you are in a beautiful world of endless possibilities, but it only feels more shallow as time goes on. With Morrowind you start in an ugly town with a slow weak character, but as the game opens up it becomes an incredible and deep experience. Easily a top 10 game for me, and I played it after Oblivion and Skyrim.

when it released it was amazing, which was like 17 years ago now? Haven't played it again since so I'm not sure how well it aged, but I doubt has been kind to it. Give it a try though, it did do a lot of things right which you saw in a lot of games that were released after.

There are mods like the Morrowind Overhaul that help it bring up to modern standards visually

It's far less streamlined than Skyrim. If you thought that Skyrim needed to be deeper or was too east and/or simplified, then you'll like it. They've kinda dumbed down the series as it's went on.

Change the my expectations for what anRPG should be. Nothing has lived up to those expectations to this day. I doubt we will ever see a game with this level of emersion ever again.

I didn’t just play Morrowind, I lived in that world for about a year. I played it until I could find anything else to do in it. Happily Bought all the expansions....... first game I ever bought content for.
