It has promise. The game has a long way to go before being completed. The concept, however, is simply a great JRPG. If anyone has seen those in-game videos, they would know the game looks NOWHERE NEAR THIS BAD.

Level 5 really got the hang of making some breath taking Pre rendered stuff. Game looks great, the in-game stuff looks to be some current gen Rogue Galaxy stuff in HD, can`t wait!

Wow, did some of you click on the one gameplay picture, it is fugly!!! The cutscenes look great, but the actual gameplay photo looks something from an early PS2 game. Hope they do a lot more work on the graphics, cause I couldn't tell if it was a PS2 game.

The actual gameplay graphics looks average at best, and you fanboys can say what you want and try to spin whatever to save grace. But honestly this doesn't looks as good as IU or SO, and if you say well graphics doesn't make gameplay that is correct then WTF did you buy a next gen console for, if graphics mean nothing then stay on your ps2 playing your rpgs. While i am sure the gameplay will be great the graphics are sub par and i hope they can polish them more.

I wouldn't say FUGLY...but pic 2 and 3 do look rather bad....but there is still lots of time for Polishing since its not coming out till next year and polishing is the last step of development.

I agree, Fable 2's graphics are "Decent" at best, definitely nothing special.

These types of games are never graphically masterpieces, nor do I care for these type of games very much. Although Fallout 3 seems to bucking the trend, it is graphically pretty nice.

But that aside, and understanding that these are low res quality pics, that gameplay picture looks horrible.

Ontopic: I can't wait for this game, those in-game screenshots are obviously not in crisp clean resolution. For all we know it could be a off-screen photo that is zoomed to catch only the picture.

Frankly, this is easilyl one of the worst games i have seen, the combat is slow and seems worst even than FF12 which it resembles

Also visuals are like PS2 in HD, how could they make it so much worst looking than Infinite Undiscovery is beyond me

Anyway, i hope they have a Dark Cloud 3 in the making, with real next gen visuals and proper combat, no a MMO-WRPG wanna be like generic RPG that WKC seems to be

the game is looking fantastic, and Level 5 are known to make some of, if not THE best RPGs in the industry, the Dark Cloud series, Dragon Quest VIII, Rogue Galaxy, Jeanne D'Arc, Professor Layton, etc, they KNOW good game design, and their graphics never fail to disappoint either (just look at Rogue Galaxy on the PS2, and Jeanne D'Arc on the PSP; beautiful games, with excellent gameplay as well).

the trolls on this site are really pissing me off. on BOTH sides (MS, Sony, Nintendo, ALL trolls and fanboys are irritating as f*ck).

it's not like we haven't seen the screens i posted above, so i don't get when we see two screens that aren't the best capture, suddenly it's "i hope L5 works on the visuals before release!" it's like gamers have short term memories or something. sheesh.

EDIT - As for the graphical comparisons to IU and SO, graphics are about the ONLY thing Square-Enix has going for them these days, as the quality of their RPGs and games in general, has been on the decline, outside of the Final Fantasy series, which is where they tend to throw most of their best effort.

don't get me wrong, i'm looking forward to SO, and i'll pick up IU eventually, but there is no denying that Square-Enix has been more "miss" than "hit" in the past decade. their heyday was the SNES/PS1 eras, which is why, i'm guessing, they see fit to re-release those games over and over again, to try and remind people of what they USED to be. i don't NEED to play Chrono Trigger on a new console, i've already bought it TWICE, on the SNES, and on the PS1. now, a NEW Chrono Trigger, or a genuine remake of the original on Next Gen platforms (sorry Wii), and i'll be all over it.

Level 5 has proven over the years that they are the new Squaresoft (not Square-Enix; SquareSOFT, the company that brought us the most classic RPGs of our generation, and inspired an industry), and there is a "magic," to their RPGs that Square-Enix has been lacking lately.

Those game play scenes are from the online mode. Go take another look. The single player mode looks a lot better.
