Windows Central: Cyberpunk 2077 absolutely blew us away — here's why

Windows Central: We saw Cyberpunk 2077 at Gamescom 2018, and if the company nails everything we were shown, it's pretty clear it'll raise the standard for the entire medium.

Oh great another one of these “CyberPunk is so amazing” articles...

Getting tired of reading it and not seeing it.

DarkVoyager2117d ago

Exactly. If this game looks so amazing why didn’t they just show it to the public?

roadkillers2117d ago

:) Smart developers.. Marketing-wise anyways. Just like Rockstar did with GTA4, they let the hype push the articles until the hype dies or gets stagnant. It is a form of free publicity. They always say any publicity is good publicity.. as a fan of Dues Ex, I am pretty HYPED!

-Foxtrot2117d ago

I know what you mean. How can you have so many of these articles and CD Projekt Red showing so many people behind closed doors yet they won't show us anything.

If it's so "amazing" then you'd want us to watch it ourselves...and I don't mean well put together trailer I mean actual gameplay.

--bienio--2117d ago Show
-Foxtrot2117d ago

I wouldn't say flop but these journalists are overhyping it like they have with so many games so when we finally do play it, despite being good it won't be as good as the "image" websites have built up in our minds.

HeyNavi2117d ago

I think it might be a strategy being implemented by CD Projekt Red to build up hype. If so, mission accomplished.

sampsonon2117d ago

it's turning me off of the game to tell the truth.

annoyedgamer2117d ago

Its making me mad at a company that once appeared to uphold a standard.

goldwyncq2116d ago

If so, then it's having the opposite effect. I'm not nearly as hyped for the game now as I once was. Seriously, nobody wants their first impression of the gamepay to be from reading articles. Imagine if they did that with the God of War reveal two years ago.

sampsonon2117d ago

we should boycott, not joking ether.

xenz2117d ago

Boycott for what exactly?

Imalwaysright2117d ago (Edited 2117d ago )

xenz

Because according to various publications, it was the best game at E3 and that pissed some people off.

Strafe2117d ago

@sampsonon

Wow, you really are a pathetic little individual.

sampsonon2117d ago

"Boycott for what exactly?"

their arrogance.

starchild2117d ago

In some cases people are just really anxious to see it because they're really looking forward to it, but for other people like you there's actually a different motivation. You hate that it's getting so much positive feedback and you want them to release gameplay footage so you can downplay it and nitpick it. You can't really tear it apart without having actually seen it and that annoys the hell out of people like you. That's why you're in nearly every article about the game and being extremely negative about it.

sampsonon2116d ago

@starchild: "In some cases people are just really anxious to see it because they're really looking forward to it, but for other people like you there's actually a different motivation"

actually i want it to be as good as they're saying, but I'm frustrated that a game that was announced in 2012 has yet to be shown to the public. all we hear is "it's amazing" how "blown away i am" blah blah blah!!

a game shouldn't be mentioned in the "game of e3" category when it wasn't shown to the public because t is an insult to other devs that showed game play of their games.
I'm tired of CDPR getting a pass when every other company would be called out for their arrogance in that teasing the general public with half a$$ articles by writers that seem to be gloating about being one of a few to actually see the game behind a curtain.

sorry, but i think that stinks and it s a practice that shouldn't be followed by other devs.

looking forward to it? well yes! dicck move by CDPR? Big TIME.

Imalwaysright2116d ago

Hah I knew it.

"a game shouldn't be mentioned in the "game of e3" category when it wasn't shown to the public"

The game was at E3 and they saw it. Saying that other game was better when they thought it wasn't would be a disservice to their readers. It would be lying to their readers.

Also I got to say that you, sampsonon, are the one that is being arrogant. You seem to think that you have the right to watch gameplay footage of Cyberpunk. You don't. You'll watch it when CDPR wants you to just like you'll watch or watched gameplay footage of any game when its respective dev wants or wanted you to see it.

sampsonon2116d ago (Edited 2116d ago )

@Imalwaysright:

"You seem to think that you have the right to watch gameplay footage of Cyberpunk. You don't. You'll watch it when CDPR wants you to just like you'll watch or watched gameplay footage of any game when its respective dev wants or wanted you to see it."

that's a good boy.

no, a game doesn't deserve to get best game of e3 when the game play wasn't shown.

kinda like a movie winning an Oscar when only the critics have seen it.

you want to suck their buts be my guessed, but i think that the consumer matters more than a few devs and some ball licking game journalist.
I'm not the only one that's getting tired of seeing all these media people gushing over a game that may or may not be as good as they say.

stop being a fan boy and clear the sleep from your eyes.

you're right, they owe me nothing. but the amount of people I'm starting to see saying they are sick of hearing about it second hand is growing and when the people go against them they better watch it because other companies have had the masses go against them and they've never fully recovered from it.

but hey, i don't think you can even understand because it's CDPR and they are your god.

Imalwaysright2116d ago (Edited 2116d ago )

Don't be a hypocrite. If the consumer matters, than the people that saw the game shouldn't lie to their consumers and it's not their fault that CDPR doesn't want you to see their game until they're ready to show it.

Yes, it does deserve the award because they were there and saw it. It's not your award to give. It's theirs and since they saw the game and felt it was the best game at E3, then the game deserves to be considered the best. They don't have an obligation to other studios as you seem to think... what am I saying? Let's cut the crap shall we? They don't have an to obligation Naughty Dog as you would like them to have. They have an obligation to their readers. Their consumers. Again, don't be a hypocrite.

Calling me a fanboy for what? You'll only see Ferrari's next car when Ferrari wants you to. You'll only see the PS5 when Sony wants you to. If you ever create something, other people will only see it when you want them to. That's how things are in the real world. Coming to the internet throwing a tantrum won't change anything. Grow up.

People don't want to read, journalists praising the game? Don't read their articles. Problem solved.

stupid move on their part, cause the more people DON'T see the game the more they lose interest in it. I don't care how awesome someone tells you it is, I want to be convinced with my own eyes, it's part of human nature to confirm with sight. Most gamers don't really care about CDproject Red affiliation with Witcher 3 so by not showing gameplay they are going to shoot themselves in the foot

Blu3_Berry2117d ago

I wish I could be blown away by it, but you know how that goes.

Honestly though, I am getting sick of thse kinds of articles. Yeah its great to hear impressions, but I do not see why they still yet shown anything to the public.

Jon615862117d ago

I'm curious if the CD project red is just paying people to say it is amazing to build up hype

Imalwaysright2117d ago (Edited 2117d ago )

That doesn't sound at all like something that CDPR would do and I say this not because of what they say but because of their actions since they entered the industry.

JaXion52117d ago

These articles are becoming redundant now...

staticall2117d ago

Kind of tired from this "Oh it's so amazing" articles. Overhyping is bad for any game.

As a customer, i still don't know how the game looks/feels, yet a lot of random game journalists are constantly repeating how amazing it is, it "builds" unreachable expectations (maybe just for me). And especially when same game journalists tell us how new Fifa or Call of Duty is so much better that a previous version and rate it 9/10.

"It’s incredibly difficult to figure out a way where New Game Plus could be done in a way that doesn’t completely break the way the game is constructed,"

Yet in 2020 i had this mode via a mod they are actually saying that your powers can screw up v's infection for those unaware pre the big update so it might not be a thing anymore but if you maxed out v with save editor your character would get sick see johnny all that but still would be in the first part.

Here is a very old vid of mine you can see how it can screw up the game
https://youtu.be/fCdo_Bowle...

So they could do it if they did not spend years making a mess of everything then last minute toss a game out half done.
