This game is getting excellent reviews. Curious, both the axe and shield are empowered with abilities but only the axe seems to reside on kratos when not in use. Where does the shield go as i see it pop in and out from time to time. Not a nitpick but just an observation that maybe someone has an answer to.

AmUnRa2252d ago

The shield is kind of magical, Look at the left arm at the bracelet, the shield is popping out of it.

darthv722252d ago

Ahh... that makes sense. thanks.

Hedstrom2252d ago (Edited 2252d ago )

Check that one out, you can see how the shield folds out of the armguard.

darthv722252d ago

thank you, that makes much more sense. I'd never seen that angle.

Truballa112252d ago

This is a trash review. Going into it expecting it to be like the old series is stupidity. Everyone knew it wouldn't be hack and slash like the old games and this reviewer could embrace the concept if change.

darthv722252d ago (Edited 2252d ago )

being a huge fan of the originals I can see where some would be skeptical but this is quality through and through. I know I'm not going to be disappointed.

bigmalky2252d ago

I've been a fan since day one... Not sure why anyone who has been following the series since then would be expecting the exact same GoW.

If it's downmarked for this, the guy is either obsessive or a latch on fan later down the line.

If he has genuine gripes... Fair enough.

TheOpenWorlder2251d ago (Edited 2251d ago )

Actually, whatifgaming said it exactly IS a hack and slash repetitive combat lol xD so this is funny

dp52122252d ago

Sounds like the author did not finish all the side quests and end game material. Some have said some the best fights take place outside the main story. Seems like the author rushed through the game to get the review up. Also he is not impressed by the graphics. Please tell me what graphics do impress you then becuase it looks beautiful to me!

Zeke682252d ago

Every time I read that a reviewer don't get impressed with graphics like this I think two things:
1) Don't play it on a TV from 1998 that is not supporting todays technologies or...
2) Time to get (real thick) glasses?
I love these graphics so I'm a little curious what the reviewer thinks is better than this tbh.?

chronoforce2252d ago

To be fair to the reviewer, they said they were not impressed not that the graphics were not good. Quite frankly, this gen we have been spoiled.

CP_Company2252d ago

people saying that God of War looking best in graphics in any platform. this reviewer is just delusional.

CP_Company2252d ago

at this stage, this looks like a clickbait.

many sites calling this game masterpiece or game of generation, even sites like polygon, ign gave this game 10.

SegaGamer2252d ago

Not everyone is going to have the same opinion, it's about time people on here tried to understand that instead of being so immature about it. Also, it's an 8 out of 10, i wouldn't exactly call that a bad score.

No Way2252d ago

Anything below a 9 is bad for most people on here.. and you're right. 97 percent of users on here feel that only their opinion is the right one.

Prince_TFK2252d ago (Edited 2252d ago )

You are right. What it comes down to is this is just another people’s opinion. A great game is a great game no matter how much score it gets. Time to stop cry about it whenever GOW4 got an 8, because to me an 8 is still a very great score.

TheOpenWorlder2251d ago (Edited 2251d ago )

Didn't polygon have writers that slept with overweight female game devs for higher scores? Yes. Yes it did. #SO TRUSTWORTHY!!

reviewer had to have made a mistake

God of War Needs to Redefine Kratos' Purpose Clearly and Quickly

Whatever form the next God of War game takes, it needs to be clear about what role Kratos is playing, lest the franchise lose direction.

I'm pretty sure it'd be a major mistake having Atreus as the main character in the next GoW. Seems to me like at best people tolerate him and his gameplay sections.

Ideally the story for the next game would be that Atreus has gone missing in Egypt, Kratos gets mad about it, picks up Mimir and goes on a god killing rampage.

Mad_Matt14d ago

If that is an option for the dev team then they need to make it a clean slate. No Atreus, No Mimir. That's what happened when he changed pantheons before. Lets Kratos be in that world. But it will be a difficult task to complete. Kratos and his past demons are getting a bit redundant as far as story telling goes.

Nacho_Z14d ago

Yeah there's not a lot of meat left on the bone story wise. Personally I'd happily accept any goofy reason they could come up with for why Kratos is in Egypt chopping off heads. I'm personally not that bothered about the finer points of the storytelling, although they do it well.

The_Hooligan13d ago

I would still like to have Mimir in the next game. They (devs) can justify it by saying that Mimir wants to gain knowledge about other realms/pantheons. Also, personally I think Alastair Duncan did a great job as Mimir and would love to see the continuation of the small banters Kratos and Mimir had in the past games.

goldwyncq13d ago

The point of Ragnarok's ending is to show that Atreus is his own man now. Having Daddy Kratos save him in Egypt after getting himself into trouble would just undo his entire character development.

Nacho_Z13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

The point was more to do with getting Atreus out of the way rather than him being saved. Let's say he's off on his own adventures then and invent another reason for Kratos to be in Egypt.

Could be that Kratos thinks he's been captured or killed as motivation but at the close of the game it turns out Atreus has been up to his own shady shenanigans.

Lionsguard14d ago

They need to bring back the "God of War" in God of War. I was expecting to unleash hell and fury in Asgard against Thor that they really talked up in the first game but all we got was brooding middle aged dad drunk in a beer hall. Ragnarok was still "good" but I left that game expecting a lot more.

InUrFoxHole14d ago

Tried Rag... just couldn't get into it. Felt like more of the same. I would welcome a Kratos only game again.
