Not going to imply that Nintendo Norway didn't just change it, but Bayonetta 3 and Metroid 4 are not lited in the source.

Both games in 2018 should clinch another successful year for the Switch

indyman77772342d ago

Wow and Nintendo talking about how easy it is to develop for, 2017 says it must be. And now this? It must be easy to develop for. Nice.

GottaBjimmyb2342d ago (Edited 2342d ago )

Man, so
-Bayonetta 1/2 remaster
-Bayonetta 3
-Yoshi
-Metroid prime
-Kirby
-Octopath
-and maybe a mario party or mario sport game?

Then 2019, probably an interim mario game, new mario kart or smash bro, and who knows what else. Going to be a pretty sweet next couple years for switch. Though really curious what happens in 2020 when they basically are to the point of rehashing their successful IP, as they will have all their major franchise covered between 2017, 18 and 19.

That-Guy2342d ago

I don't know about a new proper 3D Mario game, Mario Kart or Smash. I'd be quite surprised.
I think they might re-release Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD, especially if they're doing Skyward Sword HD.
But a variation of the last Smash, as Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch, seems plausible even this year.

>Wow and Nintendo talking about how easy it is to develop for,

Tooling is easy, cutting production time. It's still hard work though.

indyman77772341d ago

@ChickeyCantor I extremely AGREE! It is still Hard! Coding is always hard. People think that if they can understand a high level concept that the coding is therefor as easy as that. WRONG! I hope I did not give you the idea that I thought it was easy.

I am a business programmer so I know this from experience.

That's what people said about Xenoblade 2.
Look where we are now.

SCW19822343d ago

Both game reveals were just title splashes, temper your expectations.

indyman77772342d ago

speaking of which, that's also what people where saying about Mario qoute no way it comes out in the next few years especially with Zelda just launching!

vergilxx32342d ago

It should have been pushed back to 2018 , in handheld mode the game is just ugly
and english voice acting is just bad , thank god there is Japanese too

SCW19822342d ago

@indyman
no one was saying that about Mario, as a matter of fact most people that were informed knew that the game was almost complete and they were holding it back for the holiday release window.

Strafe2342d ago

Lol, is that vergilxx3 bellend still here? I would have thought he knew no one gives a shit what he says.

Would would have thought that Mario. Zelda, and Xenoblade would launch in the same year, just a few months apart? So this still would be possible as well.

ZeekQuattro2343d ago

if Nintendo expects to sell an additional 20 million Switch by March 2019 then they will need to continue having a steady flow of heavy hitters like they did in 2017. It can't just be a potential Pokemon game and little else. I expect to see Bayo 3 or Metroid Prime 4 this year as well as other surprises. Plus it would be a nice one-two punch for the Bayo franchise. Bayo 1 and 2 ports in February and then top it off with Bayo 3 over the Summer.

Uken122342d ago

I wouldn't say they had a steady flow. Just enough to keep selling out of Switches. Zelda being amazing really helped.
Mario rounding it up did also. Mario was good but not great in my opinion. The rest are rentable titles.

I am a Nintendo fan but I don't think software wise that it was a great year. NO Virtual Console, at all. Some crappy mess of a selection of random games mixed in with the Indies. I think this year they need more than 4 titles. (Zelda, ARMS, Splatoon, Mario.) Especially after not making any games for pretty much 2 years (Wii U....RIP).

Ideally they would have Bayo 3, Metroid Prime 4, Pikmin 4, Smash 4 rerelease and new stuff. Also their side scrollers are terrible as of late. New Super Mario Bros sucked, Yoshi Wooly World sucked, Kirby clay world was awful and I really think Donkey Kong Country should be 3d or not be made. Nintendo side scrollers are shadows of their past selves, leave side scrollers for the Indie Devs.

Nintendo also needs companies like From Software on the Switch. Imagine a Dark Souls remake with a Zelda DLC pack. But a Dark Souls version, I mean Dark Souls is the spiritual successor to Ocarina of Time anyways.

marloc_x2342d ago

Looking forward to the new Nintendo subscription service... VC is gonna ramp up.

CorndogBurglar2342d ago

I would like a remaster of the previous Metroid Primes. I never got to play 2 & 3.

Scroticus2342d ago

Oh, my. You poor soul. They were amazing, so I hope for your sake they get ported over on the eshop.

CorndogBurglar2342d ago

Yeah I know. Metroid and Zelda are my two favorite Nintendo franchises. I just havent had a Nintendi console since N64 and now the Switch. Old roommate had a Gamecube but I moved out many moons ago.

I don't think it would be crazy to hope they would port them over. Nintendo is kind of known for doing that with their older games. 3DS has pretty much every Zelda, Mario, and Metroid on their shop. So fingers crossed.

Sirk7x2342d ago

Prime 2 was notoriously difficult on the Gamecube, so much so that they made it easier on the Trilogy release on Wii. It was a fantastic game.

Five Big Games Still Lingering Somewhere in Development Hell

This year promises to be a big year for gaming, and it will definitely be one of the greatest if any of these big MIA projects finally made it into gamers' hands.

Pretty sure Silk Song and Dragon Age are going smoothly. The other 2 can be assumed to be quietly cancelled knowing their publishers and Metroid will most likely be shown off this year.

Michiel1989143d ago

Dragon Age going smoothly??? Directors leaving, people leaving in general, terrible working conditions....not sure how you define smoothly.

VincentVanBro45d ago

lol Dragon Age development has been anything but smooth

Chocoburger144d ago

I remember in 2017 when Nintendo showed off the Metroid Prime 4 logo, and some Nintendo defenders claimed "Just because they only showed a logo, doesn't mean that's all they've worked on for the game."

As history has proven, they were wrong. Nintendo showed off a logo back in 2017 because that's literally all they had.

-Foxtrot143d ago

I think Beyond Good and Evil 2 can stay there unless they are going to just rename it to a new IP

DOMination-143d ago

Pretty sure BG&E2 is dead at this point - along with the other game Ancel was working on before he left - I think it was called WILD. Anyone remember that from a PS conference years ago?

Dreadwolf isn't in development hell anymore and is finally getting its reveal in the summer - since 2016 the game has been scrapped and restarted three times but its been going pretty well since the last reboot when EA finally allowed BioWare to just get on with making a single player game.

I'm not sure Perfect Dark is in development hell either - like it could be but we haven't really heard much to suggest either way - imo they just showed the trailer off when the game was still in pre-production. Xbox were desperate for anything and this is all they had at the time. And the reason we haven't heard anything since is just because it's in normal development and games take 5 years to make. The help from a support studio was typically overblown on N4G because nearly every game has this.

Bayonetta 3's Director Was Worried Hideki Kamiya Would Interfere

PlatinumGames has released the first of a four-part documentary examining the development of Bayonetta 3. It's jam-packed with fascinating anecdotes from the team, including a rather surprising revelation from the game's director, Yusuke Miyata.

Miyata confirmed that Hideki Kamiya, creator of the Bayonetta franchise, approached him directly to offer up the role of the sequel's director. However, instead of jumping at the opportunity, Miyata was initially hesitant and was worried that Kamiya himself would interfere in the project too much.
