Rebrand it Nintendo Sports though so it could release on current and future hardware.

blawren42327d ago

I think Mii sports could work.

Jasmine__2327d ago

I’m making over $17k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life. This is where i started>>> http://4u.fyi/4h5

FTLmaster2327d ago

I'd be so down for a Wii Sports 3 on Switch!

bluefox7552327d ago (Edited 2327d ago )

Terrible idea. Wii Sports "sold" tons because it was packaged with the Wii, and it's popularity was hinged on the motion control gimmick being trendy. Unless they can somehow reinvent the casual sports game genre, I can't imagine it being successful.

PygmelionHunter2327d ago (Edited 2327d ago )

Except it wasn’t included in all bundles, and not included AT ALL in Japan and South Korea.

It’s still one of the most commercially successful standalone games of the 7th generation of consoles and, believe it or not, it’s still being sold brand new with respectable sales figures in 2017 for an 11 years old “casual” game.

Also, Motion controls were as much a gimmick as thumbsticks, widescreen resolutions, 3D and Virtual Reality.

EDIT: That’s right, press that disagree button when someone replies to you with facts, because you can’t say anything meaningful to defend your claim. Good job.

Go on now. Don’t let me keep you any longer from spamming the Nintendo and Microsoft boards with your pathetic trolling attempts.

Amplitude2327d ago (Edited 2327d ago )

i agree with you that motion controls were pretty huge but you're wrong about them about being "as much a gimmick as thumbsticks, widescreen resolutions, 3D and Virtual Reality"

im just saying, there's a reason nobody is making non-vr games with motion controls these days but theyre still making games that use thumbsticks. I can legitimately say i've never played a game with all motion controls i enjoyed except Dance Central and Fantasia (but i have a hard-on for Harmonix so...)

I gave you an agree anyway cause i dont want you to yell at me

PygmelionHunter2327d ago

“I gave you an agree anyway cause i dont want you to yell at me”

Sorry if I gave you that vibe, but that part of my comment was clearly directed towards bluefox755. You are free to disagree with me, though I truly appreciate the fact to that you took the time to reply!

balance2theforce2327d ago (Edited 2327d ago )

Yu..you do know that it wasn't packed in everywhere, right? People were legit buying Wii Sports all on its own homey. Stop hating all the time, damn. Man, I hope the mods catch up with your constant hating and/or trolling in pretty much any article not related or geared to your fav.

Nintendew2327d ago

Mii Sports.
I like the Mii characters plus love Wii sports.
Bring Mario back as a ref for some sports.

Switch Sports Will Never Live Up To Wii Sports

The Switch just isn't equipped for a killer sports title like the Wii was

A lot of the points made here are true, yet let's give it a chance, because like the author said, the Wii was a motion control console and everyone did view it as such while the switch is not, so the way people view the game determines how much they invested in it, so again let's give it a chance and see

Ratty823d ago

Wii sports was truly atrocious and you're saying Switch Sports will be even worse? It does not bode well for Switch Sports indeed.

Fntastic823d ago

Wii Sports was ok for screwing around, but the games lacked depth. Also I'm not sure why it seems like they decided to stick with the automatic player movement so all you need to do is swing to hit something. Very noob friendly but not as much fun IMO.

CrimsonWing69823d ago (Edited 823d ago )

Wii Sports was THE game for casuals. I don’t feel many casuals own the Switch. I can’t see this doing the numbers Wii Sports did.

Einhander1971823d ago

Course it won't, the Wii was a phenomenon. Something new with the motion tech. A curiosity to almost everyone. Obviously Switch sports won't create the same impact.

Because we all miss accidentally throwing our Wiimotes at the TV, so let's throw some Joy-Cons.

Neonridr854d ago

VR is the same way, wrist straps for a reason.

Neonridr854d ago

I loved the golf from Wii Sports Resort.

Cuzizkool854d ago

I was always confused by Nintendo’s decision to kill the franchise. “Super” stayed with Mario titles even after the Super Nintendo. They can still use the Wii name. Hell it’s been so long that releasing a new one, or even an HD remaster, will tap into that nostalgia market.

DazaMc853d ago

Super Mario launched on the NES not the Super NES.

septemberindecember853d ago

Super was never because of the Super Nintendo. Super Mario Bros launched on the NES. The Super is because it's an indirect sequel to Mario Bros.

They can just call it Nintendo Sports or something, but using the Wii name would be a bit confusing.

Bigman4k853d ago

Yeah i agree but i don't think Nintendo will be bringing wii sports to the Nintendo Switch samething goes for diddykong racing

Missing Spider-Man: Miles Morales for PS5 in this list. Love this game!

Orchard1163d ago

They probably didn't include it (and a bunch of others) because of their criteria for "lasting influence on the industry".

SMMM is a good game, but it doesn't stand out enough to have THAT huge of an impact on the industry as a whole - especially when compared to games like Mario, Halo & Tetris.

Sonic-and-Crash1163d ago (Edited 1163d ago )

i would also add Sonic and Crash (pun intended lol) ...Sonic 1 on MD is a all time classic game that helped MegaDrive to separate itself and explode in sales... also Crash Bandicoot ...while not exactly a launch game..it was pretty close to launch for PS1 (in Europe was almost a launch game as PS1 released later here) and trademarked the start of PS era

Orchard1163d ago

Totally agree - those two games were huge for the industry & direction of platformers.

p.s. love the irony of your name for this post :P

jaymacx1163d ago

Sonic was not a launch game. I keep seeing people say it was, but maybe they were so young it’s when they got the console. Crash bandicoot definitely wasn’t even close to being a launch game . These games are system sellers though.

septemberindecember1163d ago

@Sonic-and-Crash

Neither Sonic nor Crash released anywhere close to the launch of their respective consoles. Crash released a full year after the western launch of the PS1 (and two full years after Japan's launch), and Sonic released two years after Genesis in US, and a year after Mega Drive in PAL regions.

CorndogBurglar1162d ago

I knoe it wasn't a massive influence on the industry, but Condemned: Criminal Origins on Xbox 360 is one of my all time favorite launch games.

Ok you love it, and that's great but I think you are missing the point of the article... In any case to judge something like this I think you need time, currently we can see the tree but not the forest

darthv721163d ago

Soul Calibur... that game still holds up to this day. Such an excellent game.

jgilbert111163d ago

That game has aged like a fine wine. Still go back to it all the time on my Dreamcast.

Minute Man 7211163d ago

I should have never sold my Dreamcast

ZeekQuattro1163d ago

Mitsurugi was seriously wounded but the soul still burns.

Orchard1163d ago

Super Mario 64 + Halo were my favorite launch games - outstanding games.

Shuckylad1163d ago

Super Mario World SNES
Mario 64 N64
Halo Xbox
Motorstorm Ps3
Zelda BOTW switch

The Wood1163d ago

Motor storm. . . Yeah. . Underrated

Jericho13371163d ago

Not a launch title though.

Omegasyde1163d ago

In USA not a launch title but yes in EU etc.

frostypants1163d ago

Super Mario World is still my my favorite of all Mario games and in the discussion for best side scroller ever.
