I had a feeling it was all in engine, there’s even a few actual gameplay snippets in the trailer.

It looks incredible.

naruga2404d ago

i like a lot the era, the theme and gameplay concept ...i just hope to be as much accurate (and qualitesque) as it was developped by a true Japanese developper

UCForce2404d ago

Sucker Punch are very talented people.

hulk_bash19872404d ago

I'm sure Sucker Punch will do the game justice. They are a top quality game developer.

thekhurg2404d ago

I've wanted an open world samurai/ninja game since I started gaming as a kid.

I really hope this game is amazing.

Pancit_Canton2404d ago

Don't forget they have Japan Studio to help them out, Since Sony is a Japanese company. It's one of the advantages of being the main developers for Sony. Sony developers helped each other out if they need some resources.

Der_Kommandant2404d ago

Samurais speaking English is the only thing that i don't dig in that trailer.

rainslacker2404d ago

I'm sure given they're a Sony developer, they wouldn't be at a loss for input from Japanese developers or experts on the subject. Generally, historical works are either nothing like what really happened, or mostly faithful to the original content....some dramatic license notwithstanding.

starchild2404d ago

@thekhurg

Me too. This game is a dream come true.

And holy hell, it looks amazing. If that is all in engine then WOW!

Liqu1d2403d ago

@Der_Kommandant No Samurai even talked in that trailer.

2403d ago
Goldby2403d ago

@Der_Kommandant

The mongol was speaking english.
This could be for a few reasons. Mongols including the Khans wanted a society where anyone was free to practice their own beliefs, and with that came knowledge from the lands they conquered.
They learned medicine and tactics from the chinese, democracy from the european lands they took.

The samurai never spoke a word, so it is either that they used English so everyone can understand them, or that the mongol knew that samurai understood english. both of which are possible

I'm still picking up pieces of my jaw where it hit the floor.

DanteVFenris6662403d ago

Well good concept but they essentially showed nothing besides the concept.

I’ll need to wait until my jaw drops. I’m glad sucker punch finally announced there project. I was so curious what it was

sinjonezp2403d ago

Bunch of guys on YouTube were arguing with me saying it wasn't in engine , I'm literally pointing out details specific that you can see! This game I should gorgeous! Period

2403d ago
DrumBeat2404d ago

It shows. Game looks beautiful. Can't wait for this one.

IamTylerDurden12403d ago

I love that Sony allows their devs to develop what THEY want without tying them down to only one franchise. It's had beautiful success over the past several years with franchises like TLoU and Horizon.

stupidusername2403d ago

This is really exciting. I love how they talk about there being no waypoint and that you get to explore the world on your own terms like in BoTW. This is how open world games should be. If there is a exciting cenario deep in a forest or by a mysterious house - don't tell the player about it via icons or waypoints on the map (like every other open world game), let the player find it himself and be surprised by what's there.

DarkOcelet2404d ago

I am glad Sucker Punch decided to make a new IP. Ghost of Tsushima looks amazing.

Gazondaily2404d ago

It does look very impressive! (Good enough guys?! 😁)

At the start I was kinda praying it was Onimusha

Eiyuuou2404d ago

@Septic

"Good enough guys?! 😁"

You haven't posted a pic of a shrine dedicated to this game yet.

So no.

gangsta_red2404d ago

Just *impressive* septic...keep trying!

fenome2404d ago

@Septic

When the trailer first started I was thinking Onimusha and then when it showed him in the field I was thinking Bushido Blade. It looks freaking great, can't wait to see it in action.

rainslacker2404d ago

Happy a lot of Sony's great developers are branching out to be better recognized. SSM is a top tier developer and one of the best in the business themselves, and they're the only one's working on an ongoing IP, but they reinvented it enough to make it stand out from the originals to give them more status among the user base. Sony is killing it this gen, and if they keep it up, they're going to keep growing in popularity....particularly since a lot of the 3rd party stuff this gen hasn't been as game changing as it has been in the last couple generations.

PhoenixUp2404d ago

Explains why Sucker Punch has been completely silent for the past 3 years

TheVetOfGaming2404d ago

I'm sure that 3 years will give is a great quality game. Can't wait to see more of this. Playstation just won't slow down with its wide array of exclusive games.

Majin-vegeta2404d ago

Im more surprised we didnt hear one peep about their game

rainslacker2404d ago

Always wondered why there weren't more speculative articles about what they might be working on, and I think a lot of that has to do with the fact they didn't let anything be known about it beyond it was a new IP....which was cool enough in it's own right. Been waiting for the last 3 years to hear what it was, and I wasn't disappointed in the end. Can't wait to see more.

TheVetOfGaming2403d ago

True. That was one tight ship.

Concertoine2404d ago

Im really glad this wasn't leaked. I didn't see it coming at all and it gives me a real appreciation for true surprises in the industry. This is honestly one of the few exclusives by Sony this gen that hasn't had a in-depth leak months prior.

TheRealHeisenberg2404d ago

In development for more than 3 years so maybe we will get it next year. Not that I'm rushing because I'd rather have a complete product.

Eiyuuou2404d ago

They do tend to release their games approximately a year after their announcement.

OpenGL2404d ago

I really hope it's ready for 2018, The Last of Us Part II and Death Stranding will probably not be until 2019 (or later). That's not to say 2018 will be weak without it, but man it would be great to get it the same years God of War and Spiderman.

Critic4l_Strik32404d ago

Well, we've got Spiderman,GOW, Detroit and Days Gone so far confirmed for 2018 :D

generic-user-name2404d ago

Honestly, 2018 is looking kinda wedged already.

rainslacker2404d ago (Edited 2404d ago )

I'm guessing early 2019. Sony seems to be happy with one of their big games during that time, and next year is pretty packed with what we do know they're releasing.

On a side note, I think the one game I'm becoming more impressed with with each showing is Detroit. Looks so good and can't wait to see how the whole story comes together. Seems they have a lot of different aspects going on, but I'm sure it's all connected somehow.

UltraNova2403d ago

I have to agree about Detroit. Devs and Publishers who keep making such mature, complex amd ultimately financially risky games deserve all the respect in the world.

They have both my respect and a +1 copy sold.

mopground2404d ago

ya after watching zatoichi the blind swordman and playing red dead redemption i thought feudal japan would be a perfect place for a similar game. I just hope the combat isnt arkham/shadow of war style.

Playing this at a locked 175 fps on an OLED ultra wide at max settings is truly awe inspiring. A great way to replay this classic.

Psychonaut855d ago

Sweet! Glad to see it make the jump. Hopefully the PSN requirement doesn’t put too many people off. I think it’s only if you plan to play the Legends mode. It’s bullshit, but at least you can access the main game without making a PSN profile if that bothers you. I know on PC everyone’s sick of everyone trying to push their own launchers and shit.

Deeeeznuuuts5d ago

It's really not that big of a deal, PC players just love to complain, my friend has quite a few launches and never once complained, really no issues at all 😂😂😂 28514;

Goodguy015d ago (Edited 5d ago )

Indeed. It's for the trophies and online. I just hope Sony doesn't require ps plus subscription at some point for their online games. PC gamers have dealt with 3rd party launchers forever, just a bunch of silly complaints, nothing different.

just_looken5d ago

@dee

Right how dare those 180 countries that had this game listed a month ago but no longer do complain about a forced new regulation that is blocking the sale of the game even in japan.

Then you got the fact many countries need a goverment id to check if your legally a adult.

I have a psn account that is not linked to my steam account as having any form of vpn/antivirus and even something like discord can break there psn TOS. If your psn account gets banned via pc bs then your entire consoles online are bricked as do too them needing real information we all only have one account now.

FinalFantasyFanatic4d ago

I don't mind having a few launchers, just don't make me log into it all the time, it's astounding that some developers still persist with having their own launchers.

just_looken4d ago

Its a greed deal

Alot of them wanted to leave steam so they would not pay that 30% charge but then there overall number of sales dropped opps so now there back but with there launcher as a leach because all these games have attached bullshit like ubi points or capcom rewards/stat tracking even the activation launcher that needs to be a thing for cheaters/stat track i think even trophies to a extent.

Just be glad we do not have a sony launcher as it would no doubt be fighting rockstar for most unsecured worst launcher on pc.

anast5d ago

So we are lovin' PSN now? How fickle the herd is.

Aloymetal5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

Some people love to complain but if it wasn't for Sony themselves they wouldn't be playing these amazing 1st party games on their PeeZees.

3d ago
HankHill5d ago

Cry more while your precious plastic box keeps losing exclusives.

anast5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

As long as your not serious, welcome to the party.

This is fun. My turn.

Yeah, all 10 people that can actually afford a decent PC isn't much. This is why they are drip feeding PC gamers because they'll eat up 10 year old games like they're new, and that's all 10 of them. Consoles gamers already wore that shoe, you all are getting leftovers.

Your turn

Number1TailzFan5d ago

@ anast uhh, looks like the video is showing last gen (soon to be 2 gen old) GPUs running it pretty well to me? I mean if you can't keep your PC decently current then that's hardly the devs fault now is it?

Shiore2u5d ago

@anast

You really need to stop trying so hard, it's getting downright embarrassing. Brand loyalty is a stupid endeavor, accept it, learn from it and move on.

FinalFantasyFanatic4d ago

@anast,
A 7-year-old GPU can trade blows with a PS5 in performance, I don't think it's going to be that hard to match/beat the PS5, especially if you look at the second hand market for parts.

here and most of the internet will never go against sony or play station there like the apple logo.

InUrFoxHole4d ago

I guess the ps5 was holding this game back.

Has Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut PC sales earned around £18 Million in its first week on Steam?

CG writes: The question we’re asking is, has Sucker Punch’s just released stealth-action game Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on PC earned over £18 million in revenue on release week via the Steam platform alone (also available via the Epic Games Store)?

"also available via the Epic Games Store"

I'm pretty sure Epic Games Store is available in over 190 countries and 30 territories. So anyone that said that this game was not available in them was just lying.

I'm so shocked by games journalists and fauxragers lying. Really shocked. I do pity them though. I can't imagine going through life with such anger... at everything.

bunt-custardly6d ago

Hehe, you do know how much PC players whine about having multiple store platforms when really all they want is Steam to run a monopoly. Thank ye heavens for Gog and Epic.

Giblet_Head5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

When Steam is one of the very few actually trying with it's feature set it's a hard sell to get people to want something on a storefront that could care less about improving it's service. GoG is another exception, but Epic, which is still missing many features that have been on Steam for years like every other publisher just half-ass it, so they've earned and continue to maintain their poor reception and presumably act confused come every quarterly report for failure to understand the market they're in. Who really wants to invest in something that actively instills little faith?

bunt-custardly5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

Interesting answer from co-pilot when asked what are the differences between EGS and Steam.

Copilot
The Epic Game Store (EGS) and Steam are both digital distribution platforms for PC games, but they have some key differences:

Game Selection: Steam has a larger selection of games, including both indie and AAA titles, and has been established longer, since 20031. EGS, while newer, offers a curated selection of games, including timed exclusives and titles not available on other platforms1.

Revenue Split: EGS offers a more favorable revenue split for developers, taking only a 12% cut compared to Steam’s 20-30%, which can be a big draw for game publishers1.

Free Games: EGS is known for its regular giveaways of free games, which has been a major feature since its launch in December 20181. Steam also offers free games, but less frequently1.

User Interface: Steam provides a more feature-rich experience with user reviews, community discussions, game streaming, and non-gaming software. EGS has a more streamlined interface, focusing on a simpler user experience1.

Social Features: Both platforms offer social features like friends lists and chat functionality, but Steam’s community features are more extensive, including groups, forums, and user profiles1.

Exclusivity: EGS has secured exclusive deals for certain games, making them available only on their platform for a limited time before they can be purchased elsewhere1.

These are some of the main differences that set the two stores apart. Each platform has its own strengths and caters to different preferences and needs.

Co-Pilot forgot to mention: Both offer software, but Steam is very much more in-tune with VR with its Steam VR integration.

@bunt-custardly
I wouldn't take AI as gospel, especially a corporate one that ends most every answer with meaningless neutral ambiguity. You're better off actually talking to humans that use either and have something to lose, be it time, energy or financial investment. Personal experiences AI can't relate to.
