Really hope they remake the Spyro the Dragon trilogy

Certainly a great time for 3D platformers

Harkins17212514d ago

Fans wanted Crash remade and that's what we got. Hopefully we can get a CTR, Cash Bash, and Spyro trilogy remake too.

Newmanator2514d ago

I know that's the ONLY original Crash game I didn't like

RommyReigns2514d ago (Edited 2514d ago )

Hopefully if there is a remake, it has new mini games with the old ones. Some of the old mini games would need a revamp like the circle racing and (although I liked the game) the polar bear bash mini game, but some were awesome like Jungle Bash, Ballistix and the Pogo stick colour mini game. Would be awesome to see a remake that is good enough to rival Mario Party.

I loved Crash Bash. That game was so fun for me and friends.

Only platformer I've seen that's still evolving the genre is Odyssey.

We all know how yooka lately turned out. Let's see how Super lucky's tale goes, and re masters are cool but these are 15 year old games With better graphics. I would hardly consider that "evolving the genre".

He didn't say the Crash Trilogy was evolving the genre. Might wanna reread that.

Big_Game_Hunters2514d ago

Does that make my overall point wrong though? That Mario is the only franchise still evolving 3D platformers?

TheUndertaker852514d ago

It actually renders your argument pointless & fanboyish.

Sunny_D2514d ago

Don't know who Perfeft cell is. Does he tell people to brush their teef too?

Really? sometimes simplicity is the key, gameplay counts. It's about enjoying the experience, if that happens then it's a success, if that means going back to go forwards then that's good. It may help people remember what makes a game work and what we enjoy as gamers, therefore enhancing future titles, hence will push the genre forward.
Mario is the prime example, whatever it does it never veers away from that original theses of gameplay, it takes some risks but at its core it holds onto what makes it a success.
Personally, I prefer titles like Ratchet & Clank over Mario but that is a personal opinion. Plus if your a Mario fan you will always believe that the game pushes the genre forward, but for me i just get a sort of meh feeling when I play it, it always feels 'like before' but as I said that's just me. The Mario I enjoyed the most was on the original Gameboy.
It's not really an easy genre to evolve, even with Mario, if you stray to far away from the formula by taking to many risks you will upset the fans. As gamers we want devs to evolve genres but unfortunately we along with gaming journalists are to quick to shoot them down when something new doesn't work, so they just go back to what they know, your damned if you do and damned if you don't

About time the 3D platformer made a return it's been a long time coming, a break from the monotony of FPS. The industry is desperate for more genres.

My top 3 are Mario 3, Mario World and Mario 64. Mario Odyssey is also excellent, and I enjoyed Sunshine but didn't care for the Galaxy series.

The 7 Best Selling Switch Games of All Time

The Nintendo Switch has been an undeniable success for Nintendo, but which games make the best selling chart for the console?

Animal crossing came out the week the entire world shutdown. Yeah I bought it.

kevco3395d ago

Agreed. I think a lot of the AC: H sales have to do with early lockdown players!

I mean, I would've played it anyway. But I guess there's a lot of people who got into it because of the hype and their new found free time!

DivineHand12595d ago

Nintendo made out like bandits with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It's the same game that was on the WiiU except they added 2 item boxes like in double dash.

It's the Capcom method:

1. Add a new word to the end of the title and features that should've been expected first time around.
2. Charge full price for it.
3. Profit.

this is why i always say that Nintendo will always be fine. look at those numbers lol

and those are all first party games.
